Cheated my sister, ordered to fill in a large hole with a set volume. Even ordered extra to handle any smoothing out afterwards. 3 loads and the hole was 2/3 full. When you know the exact cubic feet needed, it is obvious that you are shorted. read more

Last April our landscaper ordered a truckload of Seminole Chip from Dirt Cheap to put the finishing touch on a major landscaping project at our home in The Villages. The rock delivered at that time was of high quality and the load was delivered at the specified time by a very courteous driver. Six months later, purely for cosmetic reasons, we wanted to add some more rock to fill in some areas that had settled and other areas where the original rock was spread a little thin. I first checked out Dirt Cheap's website and found it to be very complete and informative. It also stressed that they are there to help and open to the public, (unlike a few other rock yards in the area that only deal wholesale with contractors.) I visited the yard in person yesterday and I was greeted at the reception counter by a gentleman who, just like the website was friendly, helpful, and customer focused. I regret not asking his name so I could post it here. I brought a small sample of the rock we wanted to match. I was interested in the smallest amount that they would be willing to deliver. After a quick discussion about our coverage needs, I agreed to the minimum one ton load which was just a tad more than we needed. I was flexible on the delivery date and time, but I was pressed to state a time that was convenient for me. I said how about tomorrow morning as early as possible. A quick check of their delivery calendar and I was set up for 8 AM. 30 minutes before the delivery the driver called to make sure we're ready and he was there on time, friendly, and helpful. He dropped the load exactly where I wanted it placed. I was extremely pleased with the $60 delivery charge to the southern end of The Villages. Of course your delivery charge may be different depending on your location. They took my credit card with a smile. This is an old school, customer focused business. I highly recommend you check them out if you are a do it yourselfer before you make any hardscaping decisions. read more

This is the place to go near The Villages for landscape materials. We removed all of the sod around our house. Didn't want to water it or mow it! Dirt Cheap had a nice selection of rocks -- different sizes and colors -- for very reasonable prices. They delivered on schedule and did an expert job of placing the stones where we wanted them so it would minimize moving them around. We will definitely go back when we need landscape materials.
