My buddy and I rolled into town on a motorcycle trip. Wasn't expecting much but to our surprise, their lattes were awesome! It was the best coffee we've had on this trip so far. Is this a restaurant? Me thinks it's a lifestyle. Fabulous seating with couches and cushioned chairs, a little used counter with stools that have no counter space to eat at. Probably the best coffee I've had since I left Boston. In the rear spaces there's a lap pool, exercise bikes and classes. Upstairs, now, there's a massage business. If you go early in the day, you can eavesdrop on a group of locals discussing local issues (and they'll even let you join the converstion). I can't think of a friendlier group than these "locals", they make the place feel like 'hometown usa'. read more

Dirt is for the bikes they rent and sell, Bean is for best coffee and excellent food in Marlinton. I highly recommend you stop in for any of three daily meals offered with very affordable prices. A little hard to find but it's right across from City National Bank. read more

I worked at an independent coffee shop for a couple years and loved every second of it. The Dirtbean Cafe has that same feel. From the mismatched chairs to the local art on the walls, this place has everything for people who enjoy buying things made by humans instead of machines. The food was so good at dinner time we came back to check out breakfast. For dinner I had the fist tacos and my boyfriend had the Hawaiian pizza. We had bagel sandwiches for breakfast. Nourishing, real food made with care and delicious coffee. My boyfriend got a cappuccino that looked perfect and my iced almond milk latte was delicious too. Was in town visiting family like I had done so many times before looking for something to do and stumbled upon this place. Would have never expected a place like this in this area. Menu has great food option and many drink options including wine and draft beers. This will definitely be a stop from now on when I am in town. Hopefully more people will take notice and turn this town into something great like it could be. read more

Surprising gem of a place in Marlinton, just off the bike trail and next to the Opera House. The coffee and espresso drinks are excellent and strong. The food is fresh and delicious: no frozen or canned veggies here. Even commendable beer and wine options. It is a fun, funky, welcoming space with comfortable couches, eclectic tables and chairs, plants, art and plenty of board games if you are inclined to linger. Our whole family loves it. We eat at least 2 meals there every time we are in town. read more

Both a bike shop and a spacious café, Dirtbean Hale combines the best of the Greenbrier River Trail with a café that looks and feels like what college students just about anywhere crave. It reminded me of my local coffee shop and all of its eclectic charms. Local artists here have paintings and sculptures on display inside. The café itself has a lot to offer: specialty coffee, cream sodas, even beer and wine. There are delicious-looking baked goods, even gluten free ones, too. They even serve lunch- I had a veggie quesadilla after a bike ride and it was very good. Staff is friendly. Nice place to relax on any kind of day. read more

There are few options in Marlinton to eat. Dirtbean was a terrific find. Bike shop, coffee shop & cafe rolled into one. Fresh ingredients, service with a smile and phenomenal food. There's not a whole lot of choices in this town, so I was ready to be underwhelmed, but this place was a great surprise! Ahi tuna tacos were awesome! Red pepper with Gouda soup was good as well. I have to say it was a relief to find a place with real food. I was not in the mood for Subway or pizza. It's our vacation so we went all out and got a blueberry scone, cheese Danish, and white choc raspberry latte as well. Those were tasty too! read more
