We canceled a year ago. Someone reached out to us convincing us to stay and that the bill would only be $40 a month. Well. One year later it was over $80 again. I called to fix it and the person told me there would be a $30 credit every month. Of course when the next month's bill came it was still over $80. When you call these people all you get is out sourced morons who don't understand the language and just keep repeating themselves. Whenever they 'transfer' you to a supervisor they disconnect the call. The only thing worse than direct tv's billing is their customer service. Stay far far away!!!!!! So now that Directv is owned by ATT I guess that there is no customer service. I have been a customer since 1997, over 20 years. No HD no fancy dish, just one receiver and TV. I called Wednesday, 14 March and talked to a representative for an hour. We troubleshoot the problem and it is determined that the box is defective. I am to get a shipment overnight of the same D10 box. So no box on Thursday, no box on Friday. I call again Friday night. I talk to someone else. They tell me that the box will be delivered on Saturday. So now it is Sunday, no box. I call again. I talk to a woman and get transferred several times. I am on the phone for almost an hour. Finally they tell me that no order has been placed for a replacement AND they want to go through the same troubleshooting BS that I did on Wednesday. I am DONE. Chose direct tv solely to receive the nfl sunday ticket included with the"choice" package, I verified this with apparently a totally incompetent customer service rep...I was knew to direct tv but what we expressed REPEATEDLY was we wanted the Sunday ticket..we were given the"Entertainment" package which doesn't include the Sunday ticket. First off, as soon as you call to order service they put a hard inquiry on your credit report and will not remove. So, had a 2 year contract and all of a sudden the bill almost doubles. My contract still has 6 months left on it, I called and they told me the promotions I was receiving aren't in effect anymore. All of my correspondents were done via their chat, the link was there to send me a email copy of what was said, it's unreadable with a provision they put in they reserve the right to do it. The boxes were sent back, they won't take the antenna so I'm stuck with it. It took 3 times asking how to get the boxes returned. You take them to the UPS store and they send them back if I could save someone some aggravation, at their expense also. Never again! read more

Installation service by Matt was perfect. Right on time, quick install, very helpful with showing me how to navigate, and even helped me out with the botched DSL installation that AT&T messed up. So far the picture quality looks great, navigation is an improvement over xfinity, and the price is way better than comcast. Really fantastic service so far from DirecTV. read more

If I could choose less than one star I would. I have been with att for about 19-20 years and was convinced by a smooth talking southern girl (Brandi) that I would do better on my data plan if I went with Direct TV. However, after only a few days I started experiencing problems with the service. Customer service was so horrible that it took 3 days before I got to talk with someone (could also be because it was the weekend) - No excuse for that. The next day I realized that there was problems with another tv. That evening it took half an hour before I got to speak with someone. He was very polite and we troubleshoot until service came back on. At that point I asked him to hold the line while I checked the other boxes. I had 1 main hub/ genie and 4 mini. (I had to pay extra to get the fifth box) when I turned them all on, one didn't come on and gave a error message that said too many boxes were running. That's when the customer service rep told me that the service only allows for 4 boxes to run at the same time. If the sales rep had told me this I would not have given them money for another box. He transferred me after I asked for a supervisor, but I got someone who said she was some sort of quality control person. While I was complaining she hung up on me. I called them to disconnect the service 2 days later and was told they didn't charge for the box, but to set it up (I had to pay the sales rep $52 dollars before we could move forward with the sales that day). The service rep for disconnecting also said I had to pay $400-500 for early cancellation after only 1 week of lousy service. Att Direct TV is a total ripoff. They are trying to bite off more than they can chew. They are only good for a small household. read more

DirecTV dont stand by they're referral program I referred my parents to them and they told me that I was getting $100 referral credit its been 3 months and nothing i called two months ago and they told me i would get it well guess what I didn't get it so i called again about it just now they don't have no information about it and it ended 12/2016 so she said basically I'm out of luck thanks alot direcTV for your great customer service!!!!!! 2/2017 will be my last payment with this place. I used to have Directv and hated the two years I was with them due to lousy reception during bad weather, poor customer service, etc. I forgot how much I hated Directv until I recently signed back up with them. I didn't realize they would be putting holes in my roof to install the dish! Don't let them do that!!!! I can't believe I even allowed them to do it, knowing I would be responsible for eventually removing the dish & repairing the holes. That WILL be a problem for you sooner or later, one way or another. You Will be lucky not to have leaks and you will have to plug those holes when YOU remove the dish because they won't. That aside, the signal is lost every time there is a rain cloud or a snow flake in the sky. I just went outside my 3-mo warranty period and discovered my antenna was not aligned properly. Of course, they wanted to still charge me the $50 service fee. Customer service was rude and arrogant but relented after making me beg for a one-time complimentary service call. Lastly, you'll be shocked to discover how many infomercials you are paying to watch. I called to have them blocked but they won't. You'll have do a custom channel setup to exclude them. Only 3 1/2 months into my new 2-year contract, I'm reminded of how much I really do hate Directv. I will suffer with them thru the end of my contract term but never again! I will warn anyone who will listen; stay away from Directv!!!! I will be firing Directv after my term ends and all the cable companies and instead, go to a digital antenna for local channels and the internet to watch TV instead! read more

I remember seeing on a commercial that there are no wires, but then I noticed at the bottom of the screen it said "Requires one wire," which means your going to expect you can hang it up high on wall and there will be no wires, but then they'll say "You need to put a wire here," and just like that, your dream living room dies. I don't have DirectTV so I don't know what else they did wrong, but I know enough to give them a two. This is third time to contact Directv to tell them about problems that myself and probably a couple of millions subscribers experience every day. This year the summer has been quite stormy with storms coming one after the other like a train. Every time a storm hits Lehigh Valley, we have no TV. 10 min, 15 min even 20 min. And this is going on ALL SUMMER LONG 3 to 4 times a week. On top of that there are these pixlelated moments, no sound moments, freezed picture moments when we expect to hear something important, and then everything crush! This company called me one evening and offered 30 days of "free" Showtime for being a "good & long standing customer". When I examined my bill, they had charged me for the "free" Showtime. Of course I called to correct the obvious mistake and was assured by the CSR I spoke to that the charge would be removed from my acct. I filed a complaint with the state atty. general, consumer affairs about the incident. They now claim that I ordered the channel. They've offered this promotion many times over the years I've been a customer, with no problems. They tell you if you want too keep it after the promotion period, charges will apply. Since they've been acquired by AT&T their business practices are fraudulous. It's clear that they called me and not I. I' am disabled and on a fixed income and wouldn't order something a can't afford. They should be sanctioned for the "deception". I want to hear the "recording for quality purposes" with me verbalizing my order of a premium channel. I "bundle" with Verizon and the $19.96 continues to appear on my bill. read more

Terrible experience. In Philly, DirecTV partnered with Verizon, but Verizon doesn't offer FIOS, and the existing infrastructure isn't sufficient to deliver the various services they promote and aggressively advertise while they're chasing your business. After a cuople of months of not getting anything but basic streaming TV, I finally got them to confess what they probably knew all along, that they could not deliver the services. However, they did not agree to terminate the contract because, they said, I was technically only paying for basic TV and that the other services were all complimentary add-ons, and therefore they weren't obliged to provide them. No reasonable person would pay those rates for basic TV, but talking to them was as effective as trying to use their services -- an exercise in frustration. They charged the early termination fee and even though I disputed it they reported it to the Credit Bureau, and now I'm dealing with a mess trying to straighten it out. read more

At the beginning of signing Directv is a 5 Star all the way! Knew I was getting a $200 rebate. NO WHERE did anyone tell me about how to get it. ALL told me I would receive the $200 VISA card in 2 weeks after signing up for Directv. Not true! I found out after 2 weeks waiting and VISA card did not come, I called Directv and someone KNEW! You have to fill out a rebate form online and you need to wait 4 to 6 weeks for $200 VISA card. Wanted to take this on vacation. Hope it comes in time. Also tried to hook up my Verizon internet to my Directv for additional savings. Verizon is on strike and they were unable to assist me at this time. Talked to Directv and Verizon 6 times to tried to coordinate the hook up of bills but this has not happened. I changed from DISH because fees have gone up but by the time I get all the changes I am entitled too, I think I will break even or be in the hole with this change in companies. OK, so my services were interrupted. I had ran into a problem financially and contacted Direct TV, with whom I have an account that has been opened for many years. I first explained that I have developed a condition that requires me to have to TV on in order to fall asleep each night and then stated that I would be making a full payment in a week, when I get my next paycheck. I requested an extension to get my services restored, so I could sleep at night. The representative put me on hold for over 30 minutes and then came back on the line to say that she had granted the extension, so my services would be restored within an hour and as long as I kept the agreement to make the payment on the 9th of Dec. I would be fine. I got home and checked the TV but my services had not been restored, so I called Direct TV back. This time I was told that my services were not going to be restored and that I never should have been told that. This representative said that due to the fact that I called on my scheduled interruption date, they could not grant an extension. I argued that simply because I had previously been told otherwise, the extension should be granted and my services restored. They were not willing to make good on the verbal contract that their Rep. had made, even though a verbal contract is binding in a court of law.
