Metronet

Metronet

This review is based on 6 months of contact with them, but still with no resolution. Although they…read morehave several locations, I am reviewing this based on my total experience, which includes both HQ and the local Lafayette, IN office. I first contacted MetroNet in June for commercial TV service, after dropping Comcast for terrible customer service. I asked for a proposal for a 30 room business. The sales rep, Natalie, was very friendly and prompt to get me some numbers, and even came to the place of business in person on a Saturday. MetroNet was one of three companies from which I requested a proposal. After some in depth analysis of all three options, my Board of Directors voted to go with MetroNet. They seemed perfect. Good price, no external equipment to mount, fiber optic, good channel lineup, and (apparently) good customer service. I stayed in touch with Natalie over the next couple of months. When we decided to sign the contract in August, Natalie said they should have final installation by the end of August, as it would take about 2 weeks (sounds like the movie, "The Money Pit"). She then informed me that although she thought the service was already in our immediate area, it appeared they were not. She said it should be by early September, though. We agreed to sign the contract based on that. As the September deadline approached, nothing. I called to find out what was going on, and now they say October 17th. I cringe, but say ok. October 17th comes and goes, and nothing. Now they say early December. Now I am getting pissed off. I ask when it will be installed. They say January. I decide it's time to escalate the matter to a senior person. The person who heads commercial sales is Steve Jones. You can not call him directly, but must be forwarded to his cell phone via dispatch. I have done that 4 times over the past month or so. Not once has he returned my calls. Here is a quote from the Career page of their website: "Metronet is made up of a team of professionals who are proud to show they care about our customers and each other." Here is one from their About page: "Metronet is a customer-focused company..." The responses/excuses I have gotten from various personnel along the way are, "They are having trouble getting permits from the university.", "They are having trouble getting approval from the utility companies.", "They are backed up.", "I personally spoke with the head of the engineering team, and he assured me they have started working in your area", twice I've been told by HQ, "I don't even see any installation work or deadlines in the system.", and my personal favorite, "I really just don't think that the engineering wants to do the work." I have been in sales most of my working career, and am flabbergasted at this. They are worse than Comcast - the company that was voted "Worst Customer Service in America". I even had to get the BBB involved just to fire them. Looks like I will be doing the same here. I have been talking with MetroNet since June, been contracted since August, been given 5 different dates of installation, had the head of commercial sales blow me off 4 times, been given no less than 6 responses when asked about installation of my service. Not ONCE in 6 months has anyone on the sales team proactively called me to give me an update, or check in with me. I have had to initiate ALL of the correspondence. They are in sales??? They are "customer-focused"? If they don't want my business, or can't do it, just say so. Don't waste my time.

I cancelled service on 06/24/2019 due to a move. I was told my refund would come in 2 to 4 weeks…read more As of September 7, 2019 I still have not received it. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I keep getting the run around on when I will get my refund. Horrible business practice.

I am resigned to switching every 2 years now to get an introductory deal as all cable services here are simply shysters. Switched to DirecTV and now get unlimited streaming on my mobile devices through AT&T. I'm sure these companies realize their time is limited as streaming and al-a-carte options become available. For me, all I need is Fox News, fox business news, discovery and a couple others...look forward to the day where I can order exactly what I want and not the garbage (CNN, oxygen, bet, music) channels I don't even consider watching. Now I am getting internet alone through WOW for $47 (including modem rental) and 2 years of DIRECTV (with more functionality than with WOW) for $57/month...so $104 is certainly less than $155 with WOW Update 3-2018: charged $63/month for WOW internet. Called to downgrade to 10 mbps but was told the price was for new customers only. Sad. Terrible Update 6-2018: no reply from customer service. I had slow download speeds. Speedtests (with all WiFi connections disabled) was about 15 mbps. I called customer service. They said I am paying for 30 mbps but the modem (that they provided years ago and I lease monthly from them) only supports 15 mbps! Will trade in to WOW this week and expect prorated charges since the hardware does not support what I've been paying. Terrible. Update 7-2018: I replied to customer service with my account information after the last review at their request. This was weeks ago. No reply. ABSOLUTELY NO customer service.

I had an idea of the brand of phone that I wanted, Samsung, but I had no idea which one would fit my lifestyle. After explaining my needs, Norman asked me what price point I was looking for and I quoted a number that I could afford monthly. Having this information, Norman then showed me a couple of different Samsung phones and did a comparison of what they offered. Norman found the perfect phone for me and it was not the most expensive one they offered. Now, this is a big deal because as a senior, I have found that some sales associates will try to take advantage of me and my lack of knowledge. Norman spent time explaining the phone, the free plan and we chatted about working in retail while he transferred my data from the old to new phone. I had worked 25+ years in retail Management and I would have loved working with Norman. I would like to also note that all of the Spectrum associates that I passed greeted me as well. I hope that Spectrum recoginizes this store for it's great customer service and really notices Norman for the outstanding job he is doing. Thanks Norman for making the transaction of buying a new phone so enjoyable! Laura

I selected the in-store pickup option for equipment. When I arrived at the store in Henderson, I was greeted by "Billy" (William Miller) who called unprofessionally called me the "lady of the hour." I told him why I was there. Instead of simply giving me the equipment, he kept repeating that he wished I had come to see him instead of enrolling online because he "could have given" me "like, six coupons." Then he pretended to look me up in the computer and told me that "they" (Spectrum online?) had me down for the lowest speed internet, the least amount of television channels, and the lowest of everything. I told him that was very confusing considering I had just called to confirm my order and my pricing, and that I had never signed up for anything besides internet to begin with. He screwed with the computer for a minute and then said he "changed it back for me." Liar. I still had to ask more than once that they just please hand over the equipment I was there to pick up. Little Billy was obviously just trying to get a commission, I guess. I called into Spectrum again and spoke with Marvin, who again confirmed my original online services and while he remained very professional the entire time, also confirmed and apologized that Billy from the store was indeed trying to take advantage of me. Good job, Marvin, for caring about customers and not being a condescending and incompetent little twerp like William Miller from Spectrum on Barrett Blvd. in Henderson, KY.

On top of having middle of the road service, AT&T Directv is now canceling OANN & NewsMax channels…read morewhen these channels have an extensive following and DO TELL THE TRUTH. I have caught mainstream media in lie after lie. At least 80% of us know that mainstream media lies. Everybody I know is canceling service with AT&T phones & tv because they are dropping OANN & NewsMax. I don't want any connection with a company that stands for getting rid of the people's freedoms and our constitution because this is the truth AT&T is now showing us. NOT GOOD... By the way, mandating a vaccine that is experimental is criminal. In my circle of friends, I know of 9 young people that have either died or been seriously & permanently damaged by the vaccines. I don't need any news channel to tell me the truth of what is going on, I see the truth all around and so does everybody else I discuss this with... Any TV carrier that takes away my favorite news channels for their own political views has horribly gone wrong... This is what they are doing, trying to curb our political views into their mainstream media lies.

In reality, I've been highly disappointed after having the service for year. No local channels in our area and the customer service is terrible! Cancelling services has been a complete nightmare. We are pregnant, and need to save money. Cancelling services at first seemed easy, but returning our equipment has been a disaster! We were told we would receive a mailer to return the equipment, after 16 days we had received no such mailer (might I add mail runs faithfully in our community. Two days ago I called to request another mailer. After speaking a completely incompotent representative, I hung up and dialed again. The next gentleman I spoke to was able to submit the request for the mailer and escalated my call to a technical support supervisor so we could discuss removal of the dish (the first representative told me I would need to climb on a ladder and remove it myself - while being 6 months pregnant). The supervisor told me Directv typically doesn't pickup their equipment, they're only interested in the cards inside their boxes, but given the difficulty we had experienced with disconnection they would send a technician out to remove the satellite. We paid and paid installation fee to have it installed and a disconnection fee to have services ended AND the satellite was very poorly installed to begin with, so this seemed fair. We were told a technician would be out the following Monday between 8a-12pm. At 11:45 no one had show , so we called again. The first representative was rude and unhelpful. So again, I dialed again. The next representative told me no notes had been made of my 31 minute call two days before. No technician was coming to our house and no appointment had ever been made. So now... we've paid an installation fee, a disconnection fee, been lied to about a removal appointment, and missed a half day of work. Directv doesn't seem to care that their representatives are inconsistent and blatantly lie to customers wasting everyone's time. I would never recommend this company to anyone!!!!!

I am a paralyzed veterans and that is the date that I received my disability payment. So, on August 25th I paid my bill. I discovered, however that earlier that day while I was out (paying bills), Sparklight came to my house and physically disconnected my service! They gave me until August 25th to pay my bill. But, disconnected my service because I didn't pay it earlier. I spoke with two different representatives, asking them to reconnect my internet because I paid it on the date that was reflected on my account as the due date. As if scripted, both representatives dug in their heels and refused to reconnect without me without paying extra money (being penalized). They both stated that they sent me a letter a month ago, which I'm sure is sitting at the bottom of a pile of mail that I received throughout the month. They said that the letter required that I pay earlier than what was reflected on my account online. I'm sorry, but who memorizes due dates on a letter. But, it turns out there actually wasn't a due date. You have to calculate 30 days out from a particular date that's on the letter and memorize that. I didn't do that. I based the due date off of the date that's reflected on my account that I accessed through the internet on the site that they maintain. It's a gotcha game! They send you a letter with one due date. But, then mislead you to believe that your actual due date is what you see on your account when you access it on their website. This is unethical, and they know it! My account, on their website, that they maintain, said that I had until August 25th to pay my bill. I paid my bill on August 25th. They disconnected my service anyhow and refuse to reconnect it without penalizing me first! I had been a good customer of theirs for over 6 years. And yet they refuse to treat their customers right. They also script their employees to justify their unethical practices!

I have never met a more dedicated and professional technician, in ANY trade, in my 65 years. I was thoroughly impressed with him hauling a 28 foot ladder under a playhouse and around the backside of a shed next to a fence to get up a pole. Carrying the huge spool of wire from truck to backyard made me think this guy is worth everything he gets paid, PLUS some more.
