Highly recommended Direct Performance. I injured myself training for a half marathon and was worried I would not be able to run most of it. Direct Performance was able to see me quickly thankfully. Dr. Rud was able to get me back on track in just a matter of a week with exercises and dry needling. I was able complete the half marathon with minimal residual pain. He provided further care afterwards and now my hip feels as good as new. Everyone is very professional and nice, and the care is affordable. The facilities have everything needed. You are in great hands with Direct Performance! read more

Could I be more thankful for Direct Performance? I started running 5 years ago and have visited Direct Performance for small group training, physical therapy, and massage therapy. My most recent visit was for massage therapy, right before the stay at home order was issued. Even before things were mandated, DP started enforcing new policies to best protect their staff and visitors. My massage was with Rachel K. This is not the person who is going to massage you to sleep and put you in a relaxed state of mind. This is the person who is going to give your exhausted and worked muscles the attention they need. It's a true sports massage and a real treat for your body. My experience with physical therapy here was great! Brian helped me through an issue with my calf using a combination of dry needling and physical therapy. They are now offering telehealth appointments which is great in our current situation. Thanks for everything Direct Performance! read more

Direct Performance is the finest physical therapy group in Hampton Roads. Problem: Posterior tibial tendon dysfunctionor PPTD (Fallen Arch) caused by running. I had excruciating pain in the arches after running, especially long-distances. After reading and hearing countless testimonials, I decided to give Direct Performance a try. Called and obtained an appointment (rapidly) and teamed with Matty Matheson. He performed a very thorough assessment to for a proper diagnosis and provided detailed education on the condition. He presented many exercises and assigned homework to get me back to 100%. From his assessment, he found that I had weak hips, glutes, calves, and valgus knee which exacerbated my arches. Each visit had an assessment to check progress. After 2x week of 4-6 weeks, my conditions improved and I was able to return to running pain free with glutes, hips, and calves tougher than an overdone steak! *Matty is a very knowledgeable therapist and extremely friendly making every session enjoyable. Also, he did not push me past my limitations ensuring recovery was executed perfectly. The thing with Direct Performance that separates them from the competition: YOU WORK WITH A PHYSICAL THERAPIST THE WHOLE TIME. No physical therapy assistants or physical therapy aides. The Physical Therapist (Doctorate of Physical Therapy) works 1:1 with the client the entire time. Therefore, I had an expert overseeing everything the entire time. This is very important since other companies will pair clients with staff lacking proper education or work with 3 other patients while seeing you. I truly believe this is a company that seeks performance results not your wallet. I will only go to Direct Performance from now on for Physical Therapy and guess where I came when my hamstring tore during a sprint workout. read more

Just giving a huge shout out to Steven and Kylie and Rachel at Direct Performance PT on Great Neck! They have kept me from getting 2 surgeries... knee and back...!! Also helped my daughter with her feet / soccer related issues!! Awesome staff and definitely a 5 star! read more

Great experience with physical therapy and rehabilitating my knee. After a knee injury didn't get better on its own, I was recommended Direct Performance. I worked primarily with Dr. Rachel Buechler, and also once with Dr. Stephen McKenzie (due to an accommodating reschedule). Both were friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful in both diagnosing the issue and providing solutions in the form of stretches, exercises, etc. Will be going back if any future issues arise. read more

Came to the OneLife location and Nate was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Can't thank him enough for getting my shoulder back to normal and teaching me more about the human body and how it works (and I've taken anatomy three different times in my life, and i'm in med school). My workouts run so much more smoothly now because of it. Thanks guys! read more

I was going to another physical therapy practice/therapist for a severely fractured ankle, that involved pins, screws, metal plates, and some nerve issues. At the previous PT practice, they were ready to release me after about 12 weeks, stating that because I was "walking better", their goal was to make sure my ankle was functioning, regardless if I was as near to full flexion or not. I decided to give Direct Performance a shot because as an active person, who frequently ran and participated in HIIT and Crossfit, I wasn't thrilled that my lack of flexion was hindering my workouts. I should have gone to Direct Performance to begin with. They were knowledgeable and explained the process, and my ankle progressed 100% more within a few weeks than what I experienced at my other PT practice. For the past 3 years, whenever there's an issue unless I know I ruptured, tore, or fractured something, my first call is to Direct Performance before seeing a doctor who will probably prescribe some pain meds and tell me to rest for 10 days without addressing the underlying issues. Direct Performance is able to get me back in form with exercises, stretches, and "homework" that even after seeing them I can do as part of my daily routine or pre-workout stretch or mobility. My most recent issue involved what felt like impingement in both shoulders. After a few sessions that involved dry needling and exercises, I was back with the barbell, with no issue, and was near my max weights on my Oly lifts. read more

Awesome staff of professionals that go above and beyond their responsibilities. Dr Brian Maher was able to diagnose & solution the chronic foot pain that had been preventing me from regular cardio exercise. I initially went to an orthopedist that misdiagnosed my ailment as they did not conduct a comprehensive exam of the area experiencing pain. My suggestion would be to skip the ortho & head straight to Direct Performance. read more

I researched many options and physical therapy companies before deciding to go to Direct Performance Physical Therapy following a total knee.replacement in June of 2020. From the first phone interaction with Jake, I could tell that this would be the best place for me to go to. His staff shows nothing less than a true sense of caring for each and every one of their clients. A special recognition needs to go to Dr. Rachel Beuchler. Her professionalism and committment to improving the quality of life for her clients is surpassed only by her patience and caring demeanor. She is a true gem at Direct Perfomance Physical Therapy and I would recommend this company to anyone who is recovering from surgery, an athletic injury or just wants to improve their range of motion. read more

If I could rate the results I saw Jake and the rest of the doctors at Direct Performance 6 stars, I would. I came to them after suffering from decreased range of motion in multiple areas. Jake diagnosed some movement dysfunction I had and we set out collectively making a plan to tackle the issue. Jake was also able to take into consideration my two previous knee surgeries for ACL/meniscus tears-one surgery was 04 in college and the other in 2013. I am the type of person that does a lot of research and always strive to speak intelligently in any endeavor I find myself in. Jake took the time to explain some of the higher level, detailed movement patterns of my body, so that I comprehended what we were doing. I had around 10 sessions with Jake. We took range of motion measurements through out my length of treatment and the results were undeniable. I highly recommend to anyone. read more

I've been going to Direct Performance (Virginia Beach) since January for PT after surgery for a rotator cuff tear. Dr. Kiley Fletcher was my physical therapist for seven months and I can't believe how far I have come with her help and advice! I now have full range of motion and I couldn't be happier! I was doing pull ups by the time I was discharged! They have been so good to me. The facility is clean and they are super flexible with scheduling. Best experience with physical therapy I could have ever asked for! Love Direct Performance and I HIGHLY recommend! read more

Thank you Direct Performance PT, for helping me now in the process of healing a herniated disc, and last year, giving me back my arm after an injury to the bicep and rotator. Their techniques are amazing, I've been doing twice a week appointments plus my home PT. Dr. Stephen, and today Kilie, have helped me with stretches, therapy, deep tissue massage & traction. I'm hoping to see some great results soon! read more

I recently saw Jake McCrowell for a back injury from snowboarding. Before seeing him, I was in severe pain and ready for surgery. I didn't think I would ever be able to play any of the sports i love again. After my first session with him, with dry needling and manual exercises, the pain was reduced significantly. A few weeks later pain was almost non-existent and we were already in to strength training. At 33, I am now in the best shape of my life, and all thanks to Jake. He and the guys at Direct Performance are amazing and I highly recommend them to everybody. read more

I went to Direct Performance following six repairs to my shoulder and an expected lengthy recovery time. My DPT was Kiley, and from the initial "no weights", to "cleared for weights", Kiley always had a plan and was aggressive with treatment within appropriate limits. As a retired member of the SEAL Teams, I had been to EXoS which is the same place professional athletes train and was very happy to see the same mindset and some of the same exercises implemented into my recovery program. Additionally, when we started with the weights, it was evident that she kept current with the latest research. She uses a CrossFit background as well to seek out new and innovative exercises. I was able to go to my gym and spend 40 minutes doing shoulder rehab without repeating an exercise twice....incredible! I highly recommend Kiley and this location. I even sent two of my sons to Direct Performance. One of my son's went to her for treatment which included dry needling and the Graston technique for shin splints. I was lucky to have found this place and once word gets out, it is going to be hard to get an appointment. They are that good. read more
