i hired Direct flooring to install hard wood on my stairs. i provided flooring that matched what i had in the rest of the house and 1 box of flooring that was a near match for a few little strips because the original flooring had been discontinued. when I came home the installer (Merle) had used the non matching flooring on 80% of the steps. when I asked why he lied to me and said the two types of flooring were different thicknesses. He did it because he could do each step with one board instead of multiple boards on each step. Lazy. The risers have large gaps under them which requires a trim board which he did not do.
Use the correct flooring? no
install trim boards? no
did he even fill nail holes? no
i will post pictures if I can. Direct flooring should be embarrassed with this as an end product. I would recommend staying away from this business and I would not let Merle do any installation. read more
