For a place called Dipped this was the absolute worst dip powder manicure I've been had. Nails are rough and uneven with blobs and bubbles, the shiny top coat does not cover all of the powder and there are spots in my nails where the nail is still visible. My nails are also rough and there is polish on my skin around the nails. When the technician said she was done I seriously thought she was joking. I showed her some of the spots and asked if she could smooth them out and all she did was run a file over a few bumps once or twice. I honestly don't know how she could look at my nails and send me out the door. I even kept looking at my nails in disbelief but she had no interest in fixing them. Booked dip manicure here as it looked fancy in a prime location. It was terrible in all the ways described in the other reviews. I talked to the owner to express my disappointment with the service and the technicians. My technician left me with my nails incomplete for another lady to finish while having her client wait. She just disappeared, I was told she was too stress to finish filing the nails. It took 2hrs for me to be done, When usually it takes just an hr. The place is very beautiful and clean, they have a huge collection of colors but I went on Friday with my teenage daughter. She got the Jelly pedi which she liked (something new) and gel mani. I had the honey milk pedi with gel color and gel mani. They didn't clean or push the cuticles, for my daughter that was ok because she is young and I don't want her to do them but for me I need that and by the end of the day I was shocked the gel color peeled of 4 fingers and 2 toes, it is an expensive place with bad service read more

I'm not one to write negative reviews, I have only ever written one many years ago, but my experience today at Dipped warrants one. I got to the salon 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment and had to wait almost 15 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. My appointment was rushed the entire time and at the hour mark my nail tech told me someone else would be doing my polish because her next appointment was there. I wasn't shown or asked if I liked the nail color before the new nail tech started painting the polish on my nails. Normally I would speak up but I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire appointment and felt like me being there was an inconvenience. When being checked out I was in sticker shock - $103 for a Russian manicure and gel overlay. I am used to paying $65 at other upscale salons nearby and the price I booked in for was $50, a change in price was not discussed ahead of time. $103 for a rushed appointment, bad communication, and mediocre at best manicure with a nail color I do not like. I thought I'd try this salon in my neighborhood because it looked so much 'cooler' than your normal nail salon. When the girl was cutting my toenails she ended up cutting a considerable chunk off the tip of my fourth toe (how that is possible I'm unsure). It was bleeding considerably and there was no antiseptic or other infection protection offered. She did offer me some bandaids and a towel, yet it was bleeding so much a bandaid wouldn't stay on. I don't know if her own extremely long nails made or difficult to cut appropriately, but I can say stay away and stick with your normal places that may not seem as fancy but don't have you leaving with a bloody foot. read more

The things that make me provide this review with a 2 star, is that I arrived to my scheduled appt that was not documented on their end...I called and verified w someone to make the appt, received a text when the appt was made and also received a check in one hour before my appt. They deleted my original review on google so I'm here to share the full story. By the looks of the reviews here vs google, I can see that they heavily alter their reviews. I used to work with Katie until she decided mid gel x set that she no longer wanted to do my French tips and made me wait 30 minutes for another tech named Lilly to do it for me. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth so I decided to book randomly with another tech there and I was matched with Annie. I showed her my design, another French tip set and she seemed confident so I was excited. I had gel x extensions left on both of my thumb nails from my last set and asked her to remove it. She soaked and drilled off the nail tip itself but left the thick glue residue and didn't cut my thumb nails down to match the rest of my natural nails (as I lost nails, I'd bite down my natural nails so they were nubs while my thumbs were really long, thick, and coated in glue... why would you do that Annie?). I didn't say anything because I'm assuming she knows best, but she proceeded to overdrill my nails to the point where they were raw and burning, and then added the fake nail on top. After adding sloppily adding the fake nails, she realized my thumbs looked like absolute shit so she tried to trim the nails she should have cut FROM UNDERNEATH THE FAKE NAIL. She was extremely unhelpful in finding the proper colors for my set, and was rushing my set so she could sit on her phone. It came time to the design and it was not nearly what I asked for but I didn't say anything because I could tell that what I was asking for, was clearly beyond her skill set. I had already made up in my mind that I was just going to rebook for the next day with Katie, and immediately after being charged $115 for this set I made a new appointment. I even tipped $5 when I shouldn't have paid half as much as I did in the first place, only for ANNIE to look at me like I had 10 heads... she must've thought she did a wonderful job and was expecting a large tip but she should've thought she could go to hell. I could have made a scene and demanded they fixed it for free, but I decided to respect their business and pay ANOTHER hundred and something dollars for them to take it off and fix it the next day. I attempted to book under my number, the same number I booked every appointment I had with them, and she had already BLOCKED ME FROM BOOKING AS I WALKED OUT THE DOOR. I didn't even think much of it and booked again under my moms number for an 11:45am the next day and it worked just fine. They confirmed my new appointment at 3pm right after I booked, by 6:59pm that day, mind you they close at 7pm, they CANCELED MY APPOINTMENT. I called immediately only for Katie to pick up the phone and say they assumed I was booking multiple appointments on accident... If you know I had an appointment that day and you see me book for the next day with someone different, Im probably not satisfied with the job that was done. Even if you did assume it was accidental, why confirm? why not call me and ask? And why wait till closing to cancel my appointment?????? In my original review, I was so sweet and still recommended this place and just gave advice on who is good to book with but obviously sweet isn't working. Everybody in that establishment is the same; rude, unprofessional, lazy, incompetent, and undeserving of the respect I gave regarding the whole situation. They rebooked my 11:45am appointment after I called, but I didn't feel comfortable working with them any further so I didn't go. They called me, my mom, and then texted me a message about being a no show but as much as they overbook and take walk ins, y'all were aight without a heads up. American Nail Bar on Williams saved me with the best acrylic set and design I've had in months and they were astounded by the quality of work. My new tech asked if Annie had even been to nail school... and again, the fact that they delete reviews, speaks volumes. You have a weak link, fix it, don't try erase peoples experience. read more

I tried Dipped a few months ago to get a dip removal and a gel manicure. The first thing that hit me when I walked through the door was the most intense smell of nail polish remover/chemicals I have ever smelled in a salon. I was wearing a mask too, so it was very strong. I was taken back to the chair quickly, but waited for the tech to start my removal for over 20 minutes (I had made an online appointment, I was not a walk in.) The tech finally filed off and soaked my nails, but left me soaking in the little tub for over a half hour (I have had gel and dip removed so many times, and I have never had it take over 15 minutes at most.) When the tech was drilling off my gel she drilled too much and hit my natural nail which was very painful and I had to yank my hand back. At that point I was just done, and told them I was not going to do a manicure, just the removal. I have been to many nail salons in the Portland area and this was one of the worst experiences I have had. The salon looks so pretty from the outside, such a bummer. read more

I'll start by saying I shouldn't have to file my own nails after a $85 + tip service. I really wanted to love this place because I've eyed it for so long and finally came in after my normal nail tech was on vacation for 1 month. Sadly I left disappointed in the nails, but had no bad experience with the staff being rude as some other reviews have mentioned. I came in for dip + gel on top since I normally get that, and while the tech was very gentle and took her time to get the dip off the rest of the service went downhill. The shaping of my nails is lopsided, not even and some had obvious gaps in the dip powder. When I pointed this out to the tech she went over it a few times with a buffer and didn't solve the issue before putting polish over the nails with obvious divots. The cuticle area is not sealed well and wasn't filed down to create a smooth shape, and the gel application was uneven and bumpy. While the nails aren't horrible, I am disappointed in the price I paid for the quality of manicure I left with. read more

I really wanted to like this business. I received a gift certificate for my birthday and finally made the time to head over to swanky LO to go to this fancy nail salon. I usually get gel manicures. So I was excited to try the dipped manicure (and a deluxe pedi). I made my appt online and received the text/email reminders. I arrived a touch early and waited for probably 15 minutes before I was acknowledged. No one checked me in to ask about my appt. The nail technician who took me for the pedi was harried and rushed. She seemed very confused by everything - poor thing. I told her I was doing a dipped manicure as well. She stepped away and gave me two large portfolios with the nail colors presented inside. The books were identical. That was odd. The rest of my experience was just evidence that there were only a few skilled technicians and they don't practice proper sanitation. There were nail clippings all over the floor. I noticed that tools (cuticle cutters) were not being sanitized between customers, and powder brushes used for the dipping brush manicures were just laying around for everyone to pass around between customers. Um. Gross. There were quite a few technicians who couldn't accomplish or finesse the manicures they were doing. So there was one woman who was having to jump all around, making sure things were being done right. There was a lot of confusion. Then there was this loaf of a man sitting at the front desk while on his phone the whole time. I luckily had the skilled technician working on my nails. But this man kept interrupting her coming to her with questions about everything - payments, scheduling, etc. Then he came over with a photo of a watch on his phone and kept talking with her about it. She was clearly frustrated with him. It took everything for me not to say something. It was just rude. My technician did a fine job on my dipped manicure. So I am very thankful for that. Although, there was no hand massage or even hand lotion applied. I find that to be a little short-sighted and odd. But my nails look fine. So I am satisfied. Overall, their technicians need to get more training and they need to practice proper sanitation guidelines. Basic protocols must be followed! read more

Honestly I had really high hopes. First of all I made an appointment last week and they canceled it an hour before. Really not a big deal, the tech had allergies. They told me if I rebooked with him that I'd be getting a "really good discount". So I did rebook. When I got there, the last appointment was running late so mine didn't start until 10 minutes after I had scheduled it. The service itself was probably a 3/10. Multiple nails were crooked, the glue gave me chemical burns around my nails, on some nails they were completely diagonal at the top flat part, and I was cut multiple times by the file and dremel. The most annoying part is I expected to go in for my discounted service and I ended up paying basically double what the price for my service was advertised online without any type of discount. The glue caused contact dermatitis. I personally don't even want to go back for a removal so I'm looking at other places. And after all of that I still tipped. I'm just warning everyone else. It's extremely misleading and borderline a scam to offer a discount after they canceled my service an hour before I was supposed to be there and so they tell me to reschedule and this was the reward I was given. I'm extremely sad and I am taking my own nails off right now. The staff were very nice when I was there. But at this point that's the bare minimum and I will never be going back. read more

I have been a loyal customer since 2020, however, now under new ownership Dipped does not feel any different from other nail places around town. I had made appointments 5 days in advance for 2 pedicures. Upon arrival the salon was full, after waiting 15 minutes without being acknowledged, we were taken to sit in pedicure chairs.... Without filling them with water. Still no acknowledgement. At 28 minutes past appointment we decided to leave. The owner seemed confused why we would leave. We probably would have stayed if someone could have said we are running late. But it was the typical, move us to a chair routine to keep us busy. I went with two other ladies and we ended up spending over $350 for terrible mani/pedis. They rushed us through, trying to charge us for the "Delux" even though the description didn't match the actual service we received. The delux pedicure should be considered the classic and they should throw the classic out. Not even a basic hand/feet massage. I felt like I received a kids manicure (who doesn't do a simple soak or massage?!). My friend didn't have the heart to say anything but her gel manicure was a complete mess. We told one of the nail technicians that it was pretty dirty and that we wouldn't be coming back and they said "I know" ???. This salon deserves a negative review. They absolutely ruined my nails before my best friend's wedding, and when I asked them to fix it, they gave me basic glittery nails. The nail tech said she would take pictures to show the owners because she even recognised how bad the nails were. Then they offered me either a full refund or a 50% off coupon, which I obviously chose to take the full refund. Then when I showed up to get the refund, Mimi accosted me and yelled at me in front of customers, saying I was not allowed to get a refund because of some policy they never told me about. I honestly don't care if they didn't want to give me a refund anymore, but the fact that mimi was so aggressive and rude when she could have explained it calmly was telling of how they want to treat their black customers. When booking the dipped mani, it doesn't say to add the $20 dip powder to the appointment and if it did then maybe you should just combine the whole thing and make it simple and not deceptive. I looked over the nail swatches and asked which ones if any were sheer. She directed me to a few and I told her what I liked and didn't. We settled on a natural looking pink that she assured me was sheer. Once it started going on though it got more neon pink and I objected. I didn't want to make her take off all that work so I said maybe we could cover it with a gel polish that was more neutral-nude. We settled on a color and started that. But by the end of that my nails looked hella chunky. I'm no nail tech but maybe file the dip powder down a bit before you do that. There was nothing more I could do so I figure I'd just pay because I would feel really shitty just refusing to pay, even for a shitty service, I know I need to get better at standing up for myself, but the website said it would only be 30$ so I figured meh okay. I even left a tip because I have such low self esteem apparently. But when the charge posted it was 66$. Wait what? I know I only left either a 15 or 20% tip and that math just doesn't add up unless she charged me for the shellac as well but that would be super shitty because it wasn't my fault the color wasnt even the same hue as the one on the swatch. Otherwise I would have made her take it off and start over instead of being charged for gel too. Oh and by the way I tried showing her some photos for reference, PHOTOS FROM THEIR INSTAGRAM, and she said those were dipped with shellac on top. My friend and myself needed a pedicure and thought we would try this salon as it is placed in a great location and from the outside looks glamorous and professional. First thing we both noted was lack of cleanliness. While they have nicer chairs as you walk around, the work stations were not clean, the floor and also nothing to dry your hands on in bathroom. They did place a plastic cover in the foot bath which was a huge relief. Service of pedicure was not bad but not particularly good. Very fast, no extras, and not the most relaxing because of hesitancy about cleanliness and did not get the sense they are interested in building client relationships. I receive regular pedicures in Lake Oswego and have to say this was way below the standard that people in that area would come to expect. I've been coming to this salon for several years, however the last two times I have come in I have left the salon upset and frustrated. I went to get Dip nails done before my Europe trip about a month ago and left with my nails uneven and not shaped evenly. The dip came off within two weeks (which has never happened before) leaving me with ruined nails. However, I decided to give them another shot, seeing that in the past besides this most recent experience, my nails have been great! I came in yesterday for my appointment which was for a gel manicure with chrome - they sat me in a pedicure chair and one woman did my nails there extremely quickly. Once again my nails were uneven, she made my cuticles bleed and I felt rushed. She seemed confused when I asked for chrome and ended up putting black chrome over a light green nail. I ended up leaving once again frustrated and annoyed and wish I hadn't paid for nails that I hated. I went home and picked them all off because I was so unhappy with them. I'm not usually someone to leave reviews, but it's safe to say I won't be returning here again. It's not professional to talk about other people's business to your clients. It makes you look young and ignorant. I figured most of the people that worked there were young and not so professional. I heard your new manager was doing that so I figured you would like to know before she puts a bad face to your business since she's client facing. Hey Dipped Squad and Dipped clients. Just wanted to give you my review of this place of business. First of all, this company is a brand new company and still finding it's place with decent nail techs. They take too long with each clients and often run into their next appointment and of course the next client is hardly ever met on time. So if you have an appointment be prepared to wait. Second, this company doesn't run by business regulations. They also don't pay their associates with the correct pay and tips they've made. I'm curious to what their W2's will look like and if they will even be accurate. For the first few months, they didn't even have OSHA posters up in the back so their own employees would know what's right and what's wrong. Speaking of that topic, a business associate working more then and 6 hour shift GETS a half hour to an hour lunch. For a while, associates would get their lunches pushed out and most of the time didn't even get a scheduled lunch. This kind of act is not professional and most of all against the law. I'm surprise OSHA and the Better Business Bureau haven't been notified. But that's something I can work on next. Thirdly they fired a highly touted associate who brought that business to life. She brought them new clients, worked from home during lock down while posting on their social media every day and even started a project that even the owners didn't even think of. By the way the owners have no clue about the salon business. Which I find pretty funny. This associate also brought their books to life with new and existing clients to the salon. Not only did their salon revenue jump when they reopened but they were making money. There was one week this associate was gone and their books were dry, and revenue dropped. When she came back, money started rolling in and their books were filled up. I'll say firing someone over a natural disaster (Oregon Fires) because she wanted to make sure her family was safe was pretty messed up. I'm happy she will be in a better place making another company money but still to fire someone during a time of crisis and the midst of a natural disaster is unheard of. Then moments after letting this person go, you send out to your "Dipped Squad" stating that if anyone else is dealing with this natural disaster to let YOU KNOW the managers when she tried to call but no answer or response. So she takes matters in her own hands because her family comes first. I commend that. Great choice. You did the right thing and left the person second in charge with a plan. Clearly their plan was to move on from you. But don't worry, your books will be empty and money will slow down. I'm sorry to all the clients looking forward to finally having someone in the neighborhood to be able to thread your eyebrows. She is the only one in LO to be able to do that. We'll make sure to let you know where she ends up. I'll leave it with this, this company is not run my people who don't know how to run a business. You don't harass your associates late at night and you don't allow your associate to work without lunches or breaks. You're breaking the law. You would think you would want to represent Oregon's superstar with pride with a business that is run well. Check out the text that was sent out moments after this person was fired. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the new COVID procedures, but they were really on top of things and made it a great experience. The salon was immaculate and we had plenty of space between customers.
