I used to enjoy this place. We came in around 6:00 and were told that the sub and calzone would take around 25 minutes. We were the first people in, and there were around 8 people in front of us who walked in, sat down and got what they ordered, we felt ignored. The place is dingy and I wouldn't want to eat there by any means. It is a bit dated and feels divey, even unclean. It's a walk up counter place. That said, it is a good spot for consistent NY style pizza. You can walk up and order or call ahead. They offer slices, at least in the day as well as whole pies. This place has no heart and the food shows it. Cutting every corner and doing the bare minimum to just skate by as a place where people do things and keep busy. Bought a pepperoni pizza for a road trip West and was projectile vomiting by the time I made it to Richfield. For a brief moment I believed it would be my final resting place. I threw 3/4 of the remaining "pizza" into the sage and now feel for the coyotes that I accidentally poisoned. Good lunch stop with old fashioned sandwiches on fresh rolls made there. Meat is quality Boars Head and pizzas are good as well. Service prompt but ambiance is strictly lunch stop and run. I can't believe that I'm the first to review Grand Junction's only authentic New York style pizza place. This is a completely unpretentious classic pizza parlor. They don't serve alcohol You order at the counter, give the pizza maker your cash and take your food to your table or your car when it's ready.They also have self-serve fountain drinks and bottled and canned soft drinks. Now to the food. The pizza is very good but I go for the the number 4 sandwich, heated (cosmo!) with giardiniera peppers. This sandwich is so good it should be illegal. I'm sure it's unhealthy, but OMG this is a delicious sandwich. I always buy a whole, planning on saving the second half for later, but end up eating the whole thing and feeling guilty and bloated afterwards. My other favorite is the stromboli. If the only stromboli you've had is the kind they serve at a place like "Old Chicago," you are in for a real treat. This delightful spiral of freshly baked pizza dough, red sauce, Italian cold cuts and cheese explodes with savory flavor and seems to melt in your mouth. Yeah, they're that good. If you want the authentic big city pizza parlor experience, go to Diorio's, If you're going to do take out and you care about your car's interior, be forewarned that almost everything here is a little oily, and some will bleed through the bottom of the bag, but that's a good thing! read more

To get 5 stars means you have gone above and beyond and have exceptional quality food. While all I ever get here is a hot turkey sandwich (add hot peppers) I have to say that the combination of ingredients and the way it's made is spectacular. The bread being crispy from heating the sandwich adds the perfect finishing touch. And the owner/operator remembering your order adds the extra charm. I do enjoy the food here. Have been eating here for four years. But last time I went I purchased two antipasto salads and headed home. Opened them up to find some mold on the lettuce. Nasty... But not a huge deal to me. Called them up and told them what happened. The clerk was very apologetic and said if "you are willing to come back we will have two more ready for you." Got there, got two more, went home. More mold. Called again and said "I'd just like a refund for these salads because I found more mold." Get back to the store again and the owner (tall, short hair, tattoos, female) starts barking at me that there was no mold, just brown pieces. She refused to smell the pieces I singled out that possessed a strong odor of mold, just dumped it in the trash and stormed off. Another lady came up and refunded my money. I didn't buy the salad to waste them. I bought them to eat them. I won't be going back, simply because of how rude she was to me. Bummer to lose a decent pizza joint but when your first instinct is to throw a fit at a customer rather than make it right, you lose my support. read more
