I've had just about everything on the menu and it's all been top notch Unfortunately, the rest of the store is not handled with the best customer service. The old dudes at the front are as rude to customers as they are to each other. Snarky remarks, condescending tones, and poor customer service is the norm at Marty's. The cashiers barely open their mouths. I've never heard a "thank you" or a "you're welcome" in all my time there. They barely can mutter the price of your items. I'm sorry if dodgeball was tough for them in high school but I still expect some courtesy. Just last week I watched one of the old dudes (the one who looks like he came back from a Sam Elliott look alike contest) bump into a customer and not apologize. Not only that but the customer who I would assume is a decent human being apologized to the bearded loser and the bearded loser had some snarky remark under his breath. Marty's is a good sized store and has good variety as a result. The managers and cashiers however make it really hard to continue supporting this business

I just visited Spirited Gourmet today to learn more about a program they participate in called "Too…read moreGood to Go." I was interested in this program as it is geared toward two noble goals: reducing food waste; and addressing food insecurity. I downloaded the app and purchased a "surprise package" online that had a retail value of $13.00 and cost me $4.27. The gentleman behind the food counter knew immediately what I meant when I mentioned the program and gave me my surprise bag containing two baguettes from Iggy's as well as a one pound of fresh, gluten free gnocchi (I had indicated that I was gluten free in the app). All items were within their freshness dates and the gnocchi were excellent. The employee who assisted me was both extremely courteous and knowledgeable about the program. I really want to commend both the Spirited Gourmet for participating in Too Good to Go as well as the program itself. I live in Belmont and because of this experience will certainly frequent this store-I hope you will as well! Thank you, Spirited Gourmet!

Vino Italiano is an Italian only wine shop that specializes in high end wine. Located at the top of…read moreMoody Street, on Main St, it's easy to miss. Good: selection is great, it's organized very well, and if you collect high end wine, you can do well here. They also have high end dinners (with the food coming from their restaurant, La Campania, located just down the street) where they bring in a wine maker and pair the wines with food. It's fabulous! Average: while the store is very open about being Italian wine focused, that's tough to swallow as it's super, super narrow in focus. I love Italian wine but I rarely go out of my way to buy just Italian wine and that has held me from shopping here more. The prices are local store retail type prices. Not tons of value. It is warm and inviting. Not sure what the tables in the center of the store are for, but they were stocked with books on wine and there were wine glasses, so I'm assuming it was for your own education or during tastings. The staff seemed a little pre-occupied with bustling about the store. It is a new store, so I'm going to forgive them this time for not being friendly and asking us if we needed any help or even introducing themselves. In fairness, one person did offer a suggestion which was nice, but the other walked past us fairly briskly without so much as a "hi". Hopefully, next time I stop back in to tell them about the wine I purchased they'll be willing to chat it up. Pricing was reasonable to high end, I saw bottles from $13.99-$56.
