Not sure if the shredded meat sandwich really represents "bo luc lac" as they call it but the "The Special" is pretty much a "Dac Biet" with pork loaf and vietnamese cold cuts with pate. My go to meal is the Dinosaurs special sandwich (two kinds of pork, plus pork pate) and an order of the shrimp/pork spring rolls and shrimp papaya salad to share. Their bread is crispy, but not too airy, just the way I like it. The papaya salad isn't overly spicy, which some Vietnamese places have a habit of doing. Call ahead during busy hours to place your order. They can be very slow, especially because they make everything to order including the spring rolls. This is definitely a small establishment hidden in a corner in a big lot in Pacifica. Parking is a bit limited given the spaces are plentiful but the section of the parking lot where the shop is located it's not very well thought out on entry or exiting. I've ordered the Kari Kari(off menu paper item limited to 10 per day)and the special. The sandwiches are filling and good. It seems pretty pricey compared to other places in SF as each sandwich is about 7.39 or so before tax. I wasn't sure how tight the service or how good the food would be when they first opened and were trying to drum up business. They were doing the Groupon deal then. We were pretty impressed. The employees had a lot of energy but didn't have the level of friendliness that their San Francisco counterparts had. Typical of the region, though. There's something in the water and people in this coastal town are tough nuts to crack. Key word: nuts. There is something in the water that makes people here as cold as the water on their smelly beach. Anyway, we decided to grab a couple of their specialty cold drinks and a bite to eat. We were looking forward to having a hearty salad but they no longer offer them on the menu. The music is playing at ear-splitting levels as if we're in a club so when the cashier gives us instruction on the transaction, we can't hear him. I casually tell him I didn't hear him above the loud music and he apologizes. The minute we start walking out, the music gets jacked up even louder than it was before. It was pretty passive-aggressive and childish. The thing is, the music didn't bother me. I just let the guy know I couldn't hear what he had to say because the music drowned his voice out. He's pretty mousy and that doesn't help. They also expect you to drop down a tip as part of the payment process but they don't even bring your food to you if you are eating on site. You have to keep checking on your order and if you're lucky, you get all your items in one shot. The drinks are great but with the limited menu options and at prices that are not competitive, I doubt we will be back. The only thing they had going for them was their customer service. The people at this location seem to have drunk the local water. I guess I had never hit the submit button on this one because this review is from an experience I had in 2015. read more

Got some Groupon for this place. Boyfriend and I dropped by one afternoon, the staffs were very nice and patient with us. We asked if we can use two groupons, and they didnt mind doing a separate transaction for us. We ordered The Special, Shaking Beef, Spicy Tuna and the meatball. I added tofu and taro on my shaking beef and I love it!!! The Special was also very tasty as well. We also got the Mango Mint and Watermelon Litchi. I personally dont like the mango mint, but my boyfriend loves it. The watermelon litchi is good in the summer, very refreshing. Overall experience was great. The wait for the food wasnt long at all. Groupon got me there. The great food will keep me going back. Bread was fresh and crunchy with a soft inside. Pickled veggies were great. Glad they could with hold the cucumbers for me. The pork, meatball and roasted chicken were the 3 I tried. Each was wonderful. I got an order of spring rolls each visit as well. Always fresh and tasty and loved that the sauce wasn't too overpowered by peanuts. Wanted to try the shaking beef, but when asked for no onions, I was told they can't do that. Very sad. The sandwiches are the best I've had anyplace--except maybe one I had at Le Chamois restuarant in Redding, CA 30 years ago. They pickle their carrots and daicon to perfection. The meat is savory. The service is friendly and fast. My family and I liked the place so much I decided to make a huge order for our school. I was totally pleased with the consistency of the sandwiches and they even threw in a bottle of sriracha. The manager was extremely helpful and took great care to make sure the order was right, well-labeled, and ready on time. The students loved the sandwiches and spring rolls and without exception wanted to order again. What a great experience! I've had the Special Pork sandwich, the Portabella, the Shrimp and Chicken Spring Rolls, and haven't been disapointed yet. Fortuneately the menu has a lot more room for exploration! On an impromptu drive out to the beach, we ended up in Pacifica just before noon. Both the BF and I were hungry so while I drove, he searched for lunch spots. We landed at Dinosaurs 3. This is a no frills sandwich shop. They have enough on the menu to satisfy even a vegan (try the tofu bahn mi). I think there were only two other couples that stayed and ate at the restaurant like we did. Most of the other diners where there for take out orders. I got the Special and the BF ordered the spicy tuna. We also ordered a spring roll and a couple of sodas. Their bread is excellent. The sandwiches are all made to order and really good and quite filling. The vegetables all lightly pickled. We ordered a spring roll as well thinking that it would be something small that we would share. Yeah....not at all. The sandwiches were so filling that we didn't even break into the spring roll until later in the afternoon when we were sitting at Miramar beach. Licking peanut sauce off our fingers in the warm CA sunshine with our toes in the sand made for a nice moment. I love Vietnamese food and I love their sandwiches even more. I used to get my banh mi fix in Oakland Chinatown or little Saigon in San Jose. Now I don't have to go too far to get my fix. I've been to this place enough to recommend to all my friends. I found this place through a groupon deal and I have to say it's a great value! My go to sandwiches are the shaking beef and the grilled pork. I've also had their spring rolls and they were awesome. The staff are friendly. The place is small and there are a few tables and chairs inside and out. Most patrons I think buy their sandwiches and take it to go to eat nearby at the beach (especially on a nice sunny day). This is definitely a place to check out especially if you're in the Pacifica area. As far as waiting...I don't mind. At least I know everything they make are fresh! I've been to all 3 locations and I love each one. This one is great because it's soooooooooo close to the beach and the staff, just like the other two, GREAT. Hands down, one of my favorite places for a vietnamese sandwich. If you want to try something ahmazzing, try the mango mint or watermelon smoothies. Hands down, the best spring rolls in town! They are made fresh, and taste accordingly. The real stand out item at this place. If you love spring rolls, don't pass up!
