Received an email saying that my order was shipped, complete with UPS tracking number. I clicked on the link and discovered that it's final destination was Mettawa, IL. I'm in San Francisco! Emailed them to ask why the final destination was Mettawa, IL. I get an automated reply with a password so I could register on their help desk so that I could check on the status of my order. They charged my credit card but didn't send a complete order. And have seem to fallen off the map. I placed an order on February 9th and paid for 3-Day shipping. The glassware arrived on the 20th but they were dealing with a bad storm, so I didn't complain. (However they didn't offer to reimburse me for the additional shipping.) Then when the glasses did get here, only 16 of the 20 arrived. I have since called three times (you get a voicemail but no option to leave a message) and written three emails... I purchased a few Villeroy and Boch item from this company in 2012 and was pleased with the transaction. Unfortunately one item arrived damaged. However, in my communications with Chris Widener (I assume it's his web site) the damaged item was promptly replaced. Fast forward to this week, I attempted to place another, rather comparatively large order of Villeroy and Boch items with Dinnerwareetc.com. In the process I encountered a problem requiring assistance. I placed calls (3-4) to the toll free number and left VM msgs, I filed 4 inquiries via the online contact us method, I sent an email to the direct email address I saved from my 2012 communication and lastly I called the local number listed on the web site, which rings several times and then rolls to a voice mailbox that is full. It's clear there are now issues with this online business that warrant investigation for possible fraud based on the multiple negative reviews I now see on Yelp. Meanwhile, I opted to shop elsewhere and found Macys.com has an excellent promotion running through 12/22/15. So my business was given to a more reputable company. read more

Horrible customer service! I ordered 5 plates -- 3 dinner, 2 salad -- to complete my set. Instead Dinnerware Etc shipped me 5 dinner plates. I contacted them and was told they would ship the missing 2 salad plates at no charge. A month went by -- no salad plates. I contacted them AGAIN and was again told they would ship the missing 2 salad plates. A month went by -- no salad plates. This cycle has continued for 1 1/2 years. Solid experience with dinnerwareetc. Had a hard time finding the china I wanted until I found this site. I had a good customer service experience as I had to call to confirm a question on my order after I had placed it. I placed an order on 11/5/2014 for two flutes for a wedding shower. They showed in stock at the time so I purchased. I recieved confirmation of the order that night, but no other follow up. I called on 11/20 to check on the order and the expected ship date only to find that Customer Service didn't answer and their mailbox was "full" so I couldn't leave a message. I then called the ordering department and was told I would have a call back within 48 hours. That didn't happen so I called back again today 11/25 to find the Customer Service call wasn't answered and again, the mailbox is full! "Overall a good experience. I ordered 22 items of Spode and received 20 of them within 2 weeks (a delay after shipping was caused by snow - no fault of the vendor.) The items were very well packed and arrived in perfect condition. The 2 unavailable items were quickly credited to my Paypal account. I did not give 5 stars overall because I did not receive an order confirmation (which led to some confusion.) There may have been a temporary glitch in the computer system because it seems other customers received confirmations promptly. Received my order of Peter Rabbit dinnerware today. We are very pleased. The dish set was very well wrapped and the set is perfect. Our granddaughter will love it! When I ordered in early January, I was told it was out of stock and was placed on back order until April. I received everything today and this is February. Throughout the process, I was contacted with a tracking and order number. Whenever I emailed Dinnerware, I received an immediate reply. DO NOT RECOMMEND: Dinnerware Etc provides the worst customer service ever experienced. Ordered a bridal gift - waited three weeks and heard nothing regarding shipment confirmation. Emailed request asking if it had been shipped - heard NOTHING for three days. Called - customer service line FULL (two days running). Order processing department can't connect to customer service. Finally got note back that the product was on 2-3 week additional backorder. Asked that product be cancelled. Was told that it was cancelled. After I ordered from another company, Dinnerware Etc. told me they had made a mistake and shipped the package anyway. I told them to please cancel the order and recall the package. They would NOT do it. Told me to tell the bride to refuse the package and not open it (hello - it's the week of her wedding - she has better things to do than figure out which shipment to open from me). When I told company I was going to file a complaint with American Express (credit card) and this was serious because they could lose their privileges as a vendor for not servicing customers according to guidelines, the owner? of Dinnerware Etc FINALLY MANAGED TO respond to me and told me that "we do over $4m in revenue with American Express and I assure you we are not losing our merchant privileges". Well, American Express didn't sound too happy when they saw this (I filed a complaint against the charge) and I am pretty sure that other prospective customers will feel the same way. While I received portions of it, I have yet to receive 8 bowls I ordered- and they charged me for them. I have made several purchases of china from Dinnerware Etc. and everything has always gone perfectly. Their prices are very competitive. Their search engine works well. Last time, immediately after placing my order I realized I wanted one more plate. I called their customer service number, and the woman who answered said she couldn't take care of it herself, but she would send an e-mail to the person who could. I couldn't speak to that person, as they were VERY busy the week before Christmas. They added the plate and sent me an e-mail confirmation of the change. THAT is customer service. Absolutely terrible. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. On a Wednesday afternoon, I ordered a $150 vase and then paid $50 for over night shipping to guarantee I would have it by that Saturday (which seemed like more than enough time). My card was charged the $202. By Thursday, I hadn't received any information from them, including a tracking number. When I called, their "mailbox was full." After researching, this mailbox has been full for 2 years. Please explain to me how a customer is supposed to ask questions? I finally got in touch with someone by pretending to place a new order, and each person I spoke with gave me the run around and said someone would be contacting me in 1 to 2 business days (which by the way, would be the day I was needing it by). Not only was each person I spoke with of absolutely no help, but they were incredible rude and in fact, I was even hung up on. On Friday, I called back and cancelled my order. When I got online to check my account, I had been charged an ADDITIONAL $202 dollars (Now $404 for a vase I paid to receive by a certain date). When I called back, "it was going to take 1 to 2 business days before anyone could get back to me." I waited the 1 to 2 business days, no word, and the week following I received the vase. AFTER THE NEEDED DATE AND AFTER I CANCELLED IT. 2 weeks later and I still have yet to hear from the company, yet to be reimbursed, and each time I call? Great online shopping experience! We wanted to add extra mugs and cereal bowls to our china, but none were available locally. Fortunately, we found Dinnerware Etc and placed an order. The china arrived promptly, beautifully packed, and in perfect condition. On examination, we found one bowl with a defect in the design. I emailed them and, "No problem, we'll send you another one. Just keep the first one" The replacement appeared a few days later, also well packed and in perfect condition. Customer service doesn't get any better than this! My only suggestion to them would be to find a more environmentally- and customer-friendly packing material than foam peanuts. Otherwise, they're just great!! read more

I was sent an email saying the bowls were on back order and would arrive in several weeks. I continued to call as one due date rolled by and another was scheduled. It will be one year next month and I still do not have the bowls. Yes, DinnerwareEtc has my money but I have no soup bowls. No answer to phone calls, voice mail box always full, no responses to emails, and my credit card company says I have no hope of being reimbursed since I waited so long for the shipment of these bowls.
