I was entertained by Chef Daniel. He was born and raised in Italy in the Lazio region. I had talked with him a bit while he prepared a 36" Paella from scratch in the back yard of a dear friend's promotion ceremony. Although I have heard of Paellas being made by personal chefs or other 'specialty' catering companies, I thought it extremely challenging for Daniel to make it for a client, especially since there was going to be a Chef (me) attending the celebration. He even questioned me as to my credentials . . . I did the same with him. I think it's slightly a Chef thing. I figured Daniel caught on to me at that point when I was very curious as to his final product since Paella is one of the most technically difficult dishes to pull off. Since I had participated in a similar Paella party at one of my camping adventures in our RV, I knew the sequence that Daniel was following. He executed perfectly. I think Daniel also provided a bit of charcuterie as an appetizer, but it was the Paella that stole the show. Daniel even brought me a plastic fork (culinary school all over again) to test the creation as the rice was cooking to sample the flavor, consistency and doneness. BTW, Daniel even had a nice crusty bottom on that paella. Super nice guy. My five stars represents my hope for this company, although this was certainly not a five-star meal; it was however, a skillfully executed dinner party with Chef Daniel at the helm. Chef Andres and Ray recently did our friends wedding, even with the covid restrictions they followed protocols perfectly etc, the only real shame is we couldn't have hundreds of people enjoy it with us. Food was spectacular, kitchen was left spotless. Team was a joy to be with (included some dancing) could not recommend them enough, I look forward to more events and having them! read more

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Dinner with a Chef. Chef Daniel and Sous Chef Tim were so much fun, and so easy to work with. They did a seated dinner for 14 at our home, and every dish was amazing - our guests raved about the food and service. They also left our kitchen cleaned up and leftovers in the fridge for us to enjoy the next day. Highly recommend- we will be doing using them again for future events. read more

Chef Daniel Furdui cooked us two meals while we vacationed in Encinitas. Our first night was queso fresco, chicken fajitas, and churros with vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate drizzle. Unreal experience! Andres is an unbelievable chef and entertainer. He has years of experience and has worked his way up in the industry until opening his own business. You can choose from a set menu but with different course options (less expensive) or a completely custom menu. Andres buys all the ingredients, preps the food, cooks and serves it to you, as well as cleans up afterwards... all in your own home. This is a terrific gift to someone or a great way to splurge yourself. Our menu consisted of a caprese salad, filet mignon with asparagus and twice baked potatoes followed by a Greek honey pear dessert. Andres was professional, honest and fun to have at the house. Chef Andres is the best! He couldn't be nicer, and scheduled a call to go over all the details for our bachelorette party dinner and had the best ideas. He accommodated our allergies and food preferences, and made a delicious five-course dinner. Not only was everything cooked to perfection, but Chef Andres did so in our super limited rental house. This was such a great experience. We rented an Airbnb in Rosarito for the weekend and decided to surprise my gf with a private chef. There was actually 8 of us and Chef Alexander was able to accommodate all of our needs. Everything went perfectly. We hired Dinner w/ a Chef to cook for our NYE dinner a couple days ago. The chef they sent our way (Daniel) was fantastic - and impressive in that he had to cook with very very very limited kitchen gear (the house is new and we hadn't fully moved in or purchased simple things like whisks or baking dishes.) Everyone raved about how great the Greek feast was that he made us - served family style. He also cleaned up all his cooking dishes - leaving us more time to enjoy the food and celebrate that evening. Price for the night was also very reasonable (less per person than a dinner out would have been). Would definitely hire them again. read more

And included in the price was Tony Venegas - Maître d'. Everything was above my expectations! Chef Andres even brought printed menus for the plates. My guests have not stopped raving about the delicious 4 course meal. We started with a Salmon crepe amuse-bouche followed by a beet salad, a surf & turf main dish of Filet Mignon & Grouper and finally, a Pot de Crème for dessert. I'm not sure I can say enough good things about this company / event. Our daughter purchased a Chef made dinner in our home for a Christmas gift for our family. Chef Andres apparently worked hand in hand with my daughter planning out the surprise, and she said that he was great to work with. If the final outcome is any indication- he was! Chef Daniel Furdui arrived at our house carrying groceries for what would become 4 fantastic courses at 3pm. He made it a point to learn our names before he did anything, and then he began setting up and preparing for the meal. He invited us to stay, watch, ask questions and learn as he took the groceries and transformed them into an amazing dinner. By the end of the evening we were like old friends, with Daniel sharing an anecdote about each course, stories from his youth in Italy and even a history lesson on toasting with wine. While we enjoyed our dessert and raved about how incredible it was, Chef Daniel cleaned the entire kitchen until it was spotless - he even took out the trash! I knew it was a hit when he asked my wife "Is there anything else you would like?" and she replied "For you and your family to move in!". From the booking, to the arrival, to the food quality, to the cleaning, it was a spectacular evening which we will never forget. I hired Dinner With a Chef as a surprise for my parents' 50th Anniversary trip to La Jolla. Chef Andres was amazing to work with from the first email all the way through the end of the meal. He was so patient with all my many emails trying to figure out the perfect meal for 16 people with very different tastes and dislikes. He, Janet and Betty not only showed up on time, they called me 30 minutes beforehand while they were at the store to see if we needed anything while they were there! All three of them were professional, friendly and such a pleasure to have in the home we rented. And the meal ... it was beyond delicious! Probably one of the best meals I've ever had to be honest with you - flawless from start to finish. Every course was prepared fresh and you could taste it! After the meal, they left the kitchen cleaner than they found it and packed away what little leftovers we had left. I wish we had them where we live!!
