Yes, confirmed, the two shipwrecks out in Pensacola bay artifacts match to Don Tristan de Luna. He established his Spanish colony right here in Pirate'cola August 1559, 6 years before the St. Augustine settlement & nearly 48 years before the English settled in Jamestown, Va. Anyway, my point is, there are so many old beachside shanty buildings around Pirate'cola that have so much character & are so Piratey cool. Arrr! Dinner India is one of our coolest Pirate'cola beach town restaurants. The building, the colors, it's a very neat little colorful beach side shanty that exudes that beach side simple casual comfort & is run by the sweetest Nepalese family ever, that makes the most sublime Nepalese food. A truly unique experience. It hits you in all the senses. When you drive up, you can smell all the exotic spices in the air... The only other place I have found that has food anywhere near as good as this is the Neplease place in OKC that's in the gas station & this place shames that place. I can't get enough! I have to talk myself out of coming here all the time!!! She knows, I told you I told her all of this & already confessed my love to them for their Malai Kofta!!! LOL :)... Every. Single. Dish! Every single dish we have tried & tried multiple times, has been amazeballs. I can't even pick two faves now. I have to pick 3! And I can't even eat 3. What a horrible conundrum! Lots of fresh ground whole spices & cooking with whole spices has many health benefits. Fact: People who eat spicy food live longer. They cook with whole spices! Yay! I find whole Cloves, whole cardamoms in all my dishes & I LOVE that! All that ginger & turmeric! (Another super food that fights cancer) And the raita?! Ohmygosh!!! Hubby & I make raita all the time we love it, we have it everywhere we go. Never, ever, have we ever had it as good as theirs! Yes, we told her. She knows! The Tandoori here is the best I have found this side of the Atlantic, no joke. I worked a 4 week rotating schedule in India for 6 Years. The staff is friendly and helpful. My friend and i stopped in for lunch last week. From the outside, this place does not look like much. When we arrived, we were the only people dining. We ordered the chicken tikka, butter chicken, vegetable samosas, and garlic naan. The samosas were served piping hot and were huge! The filling was delicious and both sauces that were served with it paired perfectly. The butter chicken was my favorite. I wish the chicken pieces were a little smaller so it was easier to scoop with my naan. All in all, I was super impressed with the flavors. Their rice may be the best in town. Service was excellent and she explained the levels of hot (1-10) and after I said seven, she encouraged me to do a five and it was perfectly hot. I cannot imagine anything above that but you go right ahead. Meat samosas, chicken in a mango sauce (forgot name) chicken vindaloo, garlic naan. I also had the Indian coffee and that helped put the fire out of my mouth for a few minutes. Best coffee of any kind I have had in quite awhile. Enough leftovers for dinner tonight. My first Indian experience in Pensacola. This place isn't too big but it wasn't that busy either. The waitress was probably the owner's wife. Service was good. She kept on coming by to make sure everything was good. We had the lamb vindaloo and goat Rogan josh. Both were pretty good. We also ordered a side of garlic non, Roti, and Keema, kulcha. An odd little suburban building; walking in the entrance leads to a basically empty room, but one is taken to the dining area in the next room. I arrived in search of a particular combination of food, and I was very happy to see that they offer mulligatawny soup and channa bhatura, two of my favorite dishes. For the uninitiated, the former is a peppery lentil soup, and the latter is a chickpea curry served with fried bread with which one mops it up. I was asked what spice level I wanted, and when I ordered what they refer to as the full Indian spice level, they asked again. The dish that arrived delivered an extended burn, but nothing crazy. I could tolerate eating the chickpeas without diluting the sauce in bread, but I definitely cleared my sinuses and went through three glasses of water at least, which they were not slow about refilling. I could see how the average local might not be able to handle that spice level, though. The bread was not the giant basketball-sized creation I had hoped for, nor was it even enough to mop up the chickpeas, nor was it the most delicious fried bread I've ever had. The mulligatawny soup was savory and delicious. There were several Indian people eagerly eating at this restaurant, always a good sign. I would not say it was the best rendition of these dishes I ever had, but it was certainly solid, and given that they offer stuff that is hard to find in this part of the country, I'm happy. read more

Good Indian food! Not a lot of options for Indian food in the area. It's a bit of a drive for us, but we love Indian food. The place is not fancy by any means, looks like converted house. Everything was excellent. We had the Lamb Vindalo and Butter Chicken with 2 different nan breads. Loved the garlic nan. It's a mom and pop place that is trying to stay open.
