Alltrails estimates 40 minutes all together. We took our sweet time up, taking photos and noticing the butterflies, and then sat at the waterfall for a long time, before a much faster descent back down given the downhill. The trail is straightforward to follow. We didn't encounter too many bugs or have to worry about bug bites. The waterfall is absolutely beautiful. It's massive even in the summer. Then facing the other way are neverending trees. There is an outhouse for a restroom at the front. If you are in the area, this one doesn't take long and is worth it, highly recommend!

The walk from the parking lot is an easy half-mile through the trees, and then you have to make your way to the swinging bridge and down to the water and the rocks. Walking across the swinging bridge (which we did one at a time) was my favorite experience, followed by swimming in the water below. The early am visit was much more pleasant, later in the day it gets hot and there isn't much shade down near the water. We all had a blast, and will surely return!

It was the perfect distance for a nice day hike, at about 10 miles. Nice reward of picturesque lakes at the end, and you turn around head back. I went down to touch the water, but some people went swimming in the ice cold water! This was a very popular trail and seemed like everyone brought their dogs. Out of maybe 20 parties with dogs, 1 actually had it on a leash. I would recommend starting this hike early so you can grab a parking spot at the trailhead and avoid the heat.

You will park at a designated parking lot. The lot says you have to pay $10. There is an envelope and you write your license place number and name on it. It says to drop thr payment at a local store. I don't know if they check if you have paid or not. The trail head is not far from the parking lot. It will be to the left of you if you are facing away from the road. The trail is beautiful you start off along the river. You will hike along the trail for a short while then it dead ends and opens up to the road. You will cross the road and there is a sign that says trail, follow that trail. There is somewhat of a fork go to the left, you will cross a wooden "foot bridge". There is also a sign telling you to be careful on the slippery rocks. Then you follow the trail, it is easy to miss the turn off where the trail continues and goes up the mountain. At a point it goes up to the right and there will be another sign that says "trail". We missed it, and could not figure out where to go. Because the trail continues a long the river but then dead ends. We back tracked and realized there is another trail where we were supposed to turn and go up the mountain. It gets steep after you go up, but you get amazing views. It's worth the climb. This trail eventually dips back down and you are along the river again and get river access again.

Shorter hike from Sample Meadows which is why we picked this route when we carried the Red Dragon ( kayak ) with us cuz it's hella heavy. But the road to get to Sample Meadows is winding as heck , unpaved so be ready to get your vehicles dusty and dirty ( narrow winding roads at the edge of the cliff sometimes). Also , the reason why we were wearing our bright yellow safety vests is because it was in middle of the hunting seasons lol. Very safe .. yea lol. So obviously there's no road access to the lakes therefore we carried the kayak with us but this was the kind that you can assemble so we each carried some parts in our packs . Was heavier than our usual backpacks but wasn't too bad. There were five of us. From Huntington Lake is about 8 mile round trip hike not real steep so I'd say moderate. You get to the Lower lake first and it's only about 1/4 mile to Upper , it's definitely worth it to go to Upper because it's prettier. My friend Mike jumped into the Upper and went swimming but it was summer time. Some people were fishing. There were reminiscent of campfire on boulders around the lake. I think I've done this hike about four times , I must really like this place.

It's not too hard, I would rate it moderate, but you should be in decent shape to attempt this hike. It is all uphill, it's moderate uphill. The last section right before you get to the peak is more of an intense uphill climb. The intense part doesn't last too long though. This hike offers beautiful views of the lake and Table mountains. Hiking the peak can be a bit tricky. Rocks are slippery, so wear good shoes with grip and ankle protection. This hike is unbearable in the summer, it's too hot. Winter months and early spring are my fave times to hike it. Parking is free if you park along the road. If you park in the parking lot day use area, I think it's $5. There is a public restroom, sometimes it's closed and a portopotty is available.

The tour guide was very nice and very patient and very professional. He took the time to show us and to explain in detail all about this historic place. They only open in summertime. You have to reserve and buy tickets online. Go to the Sequoia National Park website and find the link to buy your tickets. They tell you to arrive 30 min before your tour time. They don't let you come in with a backpack or extra sweaters on hand. You have to wear it. You can take a bottle of water but you don't even get thirsty because it's kind of chilly inside. You get to walk like half of mile to get to the cave. Be prepared to do a little hike. At the entrance there is a souvenir shop where you can buy pins, postcards, and different types of souvenirs. They have books too. The prices are very affordable. The walking inside the cave is not that long. Anybody can do that. With no problem. They say at the entrance "If you are claustrophobic maybe don't go in", but it is not that bad. It was very impressive, and the guide told us all the history of when they think this appeared it goes back to the 1800s. The caves were or haven't been damaged by any earthquakes. The tour was for about an hour I believe. Take comfy shoes and get there on time. Highly recommend.

It can get pretty chilly inside, but since we went during summer break, it actually felt perfect. Definitely an experience I'm glad we got to share as a family
