    Taro Milk Tea
    Mabel B.

I have to admit I don't often order boba but was in the area and figured I'd try it out. I typically sit in my car waiting for my son across the street at Mathnesium and always see people come and go at Ding Tea no matter the time of day. Walked in and ordered a taro milk tea. Waited a few minutes for my drink to be ready. Brought it back to my car to taste. Was very content with my drink while I sat waiting for my son. I'd go back and try other flavors.

Haven't tried this Ding Tea yet! So close to my house. I usually just get their regular milk tea with boba. They don't have regular brown boba here. I hate that. No cheese foam either. But their milk tea is good. For here, 50% sugar is best. Big space inside to hang out.

Great friendly service. Download app for reward programs. Tried mashed taro 50% sweet which was perfect for me. Bobas were soft and chewy. Drink tasted really good. Like the chunks of taro inside the drink. Will def come back and try other flavors.

    2 hour parking between 8AM and 10PM

Accessibility: there are a few disabled parking spots in front of the store but then the rest of the parking is pretty limited as this is a busy area with businesses and apartments directly next to it. There are two pull doors to enter the building but they were both propped open tonight around 8 PM. There are a few wheelchair accessible tables to use outside as well as more inside. The employees here are SUPER nice so if you need assistance, just ask and I bet they would gladly help. Experience: as soon as I came inside the employees said "welcome" and it was very cute inside! When it was my turn to order the employees were so cheerful and happy to answer my 10 questions, not rushing me even with a line behind me. I felt very welcomed and attended to here! Wonderful experience! The drinks tasted great too! I will definitely be back.

Got a taro milk tea - cant really mess this up Hokkaido milk tea - very strong tea flavor but I dig it!! What i liked was their fresh and hot boba. Workers were chill and my drinks came out super quick. The bathrooms were super clean and tidy and also the environment they had good music playing in the background. Will be back!

I work close by here (Kaiser Permanente) and ever so often, my workplace orders multiple cups of boba tea. Luckily they were open on both Christmas Eve and New Years eve. The boba is always so chewy and perfect. I typically order the lychee milk tea or the green guava tea with golden boba (50 percent sugar and 50 percent ice). I also ordered a slushee boba for my nieces off their holiday menu and pleasantly it was not too sweet. The parking can be horrendous during peak hours but so well worth it. They also do deliver via grub hub or you can order via the app for it to be ready when you get there. Service is always good and it is quite funny that Kung Fu Tea is close by but hey the more boba, the merrier. Too bad they do not have a rewards or loyalty program like KFT.

Great little spot. Parking right in front. Fast service. Lots of options for drink flavors and toppings!! Definitely gonna be a go to spot for me.

Order on their website or scan the code to order and it's ready for pick up in a matter of minutes. It wasn't too bad of a wait since I was there at 6 pm on a Thursday. I got the brown sugar milk tea and it was underwhelming. It didn't taste like brown sugar, very light. I couldn't adjust the sugar on the website since it's made with a syrup, or so I'm told. The winter melon green milk tea was good hot, but I've had better. The boba wasn't sweetened, it was regular boba and again, underwhelming. I'll come back and try other flavors, maybe I just ordered the wrong ones, but I wasn't too impressed. The place is clean and innovative during a time of a pandemic, but it needs a bit more work on the flavors and sweetness of the boba.

I was a bit nervous to come try Ding Tea since I had a really great experience at the SD location 2 years ago, but then had a mediocre experience from Carlsbad a few months ago. Third time is the charm?! (We visited 12/28/20) PSA: golden boba is 55 cents, but they also have monster boba for 75 cents. The difference? Monster boba is your traditional darker color boba, and it's supposedly cooked longer to absorb more flavor. We ordered: 1. Hokkaido oolong milk tea with golden boba (large) 2. Thai milk tea with golden boba (medium) 3. Signature milk tea with golden boba (large) +1 though they use creamer, but I appreciate it doesn't leave a weird after taste like Kung Fu Tea +1 milk tea was pretty good +/-1 Hokkaido tastes like toffee pump -100 bad boba...I liked the golden boba before, but either they changed the recipe or this location did it differently - it's extremely small in size and flavorless. Why would I need to pay 20 cents more for the normal boba that you can get at other places?! Shouldn't you be trying to perfect the golden boba since other places don't have it?! Overall, was quite disappointed here. Kung Fu wins by a small margin, so I would be cautious to come to Ding Tea again.

The taro bingsoo was super light and fluffy. Not overly sweet, which I actually appreciated. It's definitely a good shareable dessert, especially if you want something refreshing instead of heavy. The taro with creme brulee was the standout for me though. The layers were really pretty, and once mixed, it had that creamy taro flavor with a slight caramelized richness from the brûlée topping. It felt a little more elevated than your typical taro milk tea.

I asked why what was being offered didn't match what was advertised on the menu. The employee looked at me like I was the one speaking nonsense, then hit me with a shrug and, "I don't make the rules." Cool. You may not make the rules, but someone sure made this menu--and apparently nobody bothers to make sure it matches reality. If your customers need a decoder ring to figure out what's actually available versus what's printed, that's not a customer problem. That's a business problem. Do better. Or at the very least, update the menu so it stops catfishing people. Seriously... WTF."

I love love love the banana matcha or their coconut water with matcha foam. To be completely honest, I was never a fan of their other dessert puddings or tiramisu's because of how overly sweet almost everything is. I think sometimes even the seasonal drinks can get pretty sweet as well. I'm not sure yet because I haven't asked but it would be nice to be able to adjust sweetness for drinks. As for customer service, I can say it's alright. Not the nicest but not the worst either.

From what I remember, Oh My Pate Cafe used to sell banh mi sandwiches. Now they focus on coffee, matcha, sugarcane juice, and desserts. Honestly, I think the drinks and banh mi would have been the perfect combo, but maybe one day they'll bring them back. When I walked in, the cashier was working by herself and helping another customer. I completely understand being busy, but there wasn't much acknowledgment when I came in, so the shop felt a little uninviting at first. The cafe itself was very clean and cute. I noticed their July special was the Corn Matcha, which immediately caught my attention because it's one of my favorite matcha flavor combinations. I knew that was going to be my order. I ordered the large Corn Matcha. Their menu advertises ceremonial Uji matcha made with Oatly oat milk. My 24-ounce drink came out to a little over $10 before tip, which honestly caught me off guard. I think that's the most I've ever paid for a matcha, even compared to shops in downtown San Diego. At that price, my expectations were definitely high. I did notice they pre-batch their matcha. Personally, that doesn't bother me too much because I don't think it changes the flavor that much. I know some people care about the authenticity of whisking each drink to order, especially when you're paying premium prices, but for me it comes down to whether it tastes good. The matcha itself had a smooth flavor and was strong enough to actually taste like matcha instead of milk. It even kept me awake for a few hours afterward, which is always a good sign. The corn cream on top was rich without being overly sweet, and I loved that they added real corn pieces along with corn flakes. It made the drink taste much more natural instead of tasting like artificial corn flavoring. The quality of the matcha was definitely there. My biggest hesitation is simply the price. It's hard for me to justify spending over $10 on one drink, even though I genuinely liked it. If you're looking to treat yourself and you're a matcha lover, I think it's worth trying at least once.
