I have to admit for being a big box store, they were clean and had a wide variety of items to browse through. During the week, there weren't a lot of staff on hand, but the one who helped us was really good. My wife had a return to make and one thing keeping this place from getting a higher rating was that there was no signage indicating where customer service/returns were located. None of the cashier aisles had anyone there when we entered. We browsed a little and my wife spotted a gal who was stocking inventory (loads of seasonal stuff was filling the shelves). The employee immediately stopped stocking and directed my wife to the second cashier spot and she opened the spot and processed the returned item with a simple review of the receipt to confirm it was purchased there and the price to be refunded. In about a minute, my wife was refunded her money. My wife also asked if they carried some artificial plants and where would she find them. The clerk pointed in the general directions and then gave some verbal direction to help find the specific items. Unfortunately, they had similar stuff to what my wife wanted, but not exactly. But that wasn't the clerk's fault. Prices seemed reasonable and the quality of the items I picked up seemed good too. It's a very unassuming location so I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in. The produce is the first section you walk into as you enter so that was good because I didn't have to go searching for the deals. Everything I wanted was still in stock and I found a few extra treats that weren't on the list at great prices(ex. 7.5oz Wholly Guacamole bowls for $1 each-a steal!) I ended up buying blackberries, raspberries, Vidalia onions, zucchini, squash, Cincinnati Reds peanuts, spring mix and arugula and my total was less than $16. The deal is that everything is probably close to their "best by" date but for such a low price I can afford to "use em or lose em". I browsed around the store to see what else they had and I may have to check out some of their clothing next time because it looked like some good deals to be had in that area as well. This was far from a good experience. I kept getting told I could buy and pick up my couch the same…read moreday easy, but then they couldn't get the couch pulled up to buy it and our salesman had to go ask for help, they couldn't get the next step to work and they needed more help, and it just kept going like this. I was told they'd have me ready to go in 30-40 minutes buying and getting the couch out back ready for us when I agreed to buy the couch, all done. The salesman was beyond unhelpful and didnt want to help it seemed, we asked to check the couchs electric recline, since it wasn't plugged it, and we were brushed off until a good few minutes when he finally agreed to move a couch to plug it in and try it. He even asked another salesman for help and that salesman said Good Luck and ran away! I call the person with the truck helping us and tell him we need him in 30/40 on the phone in front of our salesman. And they asked for so many "just 15 more minutes" that it turned into 60 minutes to just BUY the couch. Then I was told that I "could come tomorrow to get the couch some time bewteen 10 and 2"....I guess they didnt have the loader people but I was told a couple times I could have it today and I asked if that was still possible and they ended up agreeing. After that, the couch inspection happened then they told us to call them when we are ready to pick up the couch and to give them an hour. I said I already asked for help and our truck is here, he told me it'd only be 30 to 40 minutes an hour and a half ago. Our salesman said we'll okay they will rush it but it'll be sometime bewteen 3:30 and 5:30 and he'd call us. (This was at 2:30). This was annoying but whatever, at least we'd get it today. We said okay and went out to eat and at 4 decided to go back because we hadn't heard from him at all, and we didnt have much else to do that far from our home. We went back, got told to wait 15 more minutes and got sent out back. Our salesman did bring it out, but was very pushy with the couch. We left, take it home think everything is good. Turns out, they didnt give us the adapter for plugging the couch into the wall. I call to ask about it, get put on hold for 10 complete minutes and then tell the receptionist lady my issue and she goes again, not a long hold this time, and comes back to say our salesman has it and can we come pick it up? she was very apologetic and I have no issue with her. I say yes. We then have to drive all the way back up and get it. This took us from 12:30 to around 6 pm to do this. This was incredibly frustrating for honestly not a bad deal, but not a fantastic deal either. Every time we walked into the store (ended up being 3 times in one day) we got rushed by the many salespeople trying to get us to buy more. When I said i was checking on my couch or there to look for the adapter plug they forgot to give me, they immediately stop talking and almost run from you. It is really kind of insulting and I dont understand how doing this sales bit and forcing yourself on people gets anyone to buy anything. Everyone here expect fro the receptionist were unpleasant and/or unhelpful. I dont normally do reviews but I am still aggravated with his experience and I will not be returning for anymore furniture and will be telling anyone I know this story to warn them if they are looking for furniture.

Our shopping experience was semi adequate. The sales gal was semi knowledgeable and helpful at first, but then she quickly disappeared. After we found her, we closed the deal. The delivery cost was 'free' and the scheduled time was acceptable. The delivery team experience was awkward. One of the guys seemed to have an attitude and was unpleasant when we were trying to speak to him about where to place the couch. It is what it is. We will still consider checking out their furniture regardless when looking for what we need.

Last time I bought furniture from Value City it was at the Plainfield store. I didn't realize that…read moreright away since it had been six years ago. As with my last visit, I was shopping for juvenile furniture. I think they have very good selections for youths. The granddaughter wanted a new bed and chose a "sleigh" style headboard twin size bed. She also opted to add the matching nightstand. She also wanted a chair for her bedroom and we were able to find a rocking swivel recliner in almost the exact same color as the bed that was extremely soft and plush. I chose to pickup the furniture this time instead of having it delivered. The pickup location is at the Plainfield store and it was easy as pie. They loaded the five boxes into my mini-van for me. All of the seats were removed or stowed under the floor giving me ten feet of cargo space as opposed to only six feet in my pickup truck. Assembly was a piece of cake. Pie? Now cake? I'm ready for dessert, lol. Only the feet needed screwing onto the nightstand. There was no assembly required for the chair whatsoever. That left the bed for the majority of the assembly time. 16 bolts for the side rails to attach the headboard and toe board plus 8 screws for the slats. Easy, peasy. My sister also likes Value City. The cost of all three pieces was just over $1k, two being on sale. I'm very satisfied with the quality. Everything was in stock hence no waiting for anything to be ordered. I bought it on a Friday and it was available for pickup the following Friday.

After everything was set up and I decided what I wanted, they were up front and told me that it would be about 8 or 9 months for the furniture to come in due to COVID. So, they asked that I put half down on my furniture and pay the remaining balance when the furniture comes in. I normally would be a bit hesitant to give that much money to some businesses because without getting the product. However, I felt comfortable doing it with them and did so without hesitation. During the wait, I called a few times and they gladly gave me updates on my sectional. They called me right away when it came in. It was a month earlier than they had predicted. They offer a delivery service for a fee, I think like $150 or so. But I could not wait and just rented a U-Haul and got a buddy and went and picked up the sectional myself. The process was seamless and pretty easy. The only issue, which was out of their control, was the long wait. This business is run by a wonderful couple who is very knowledgeable about furniture. They made the sometime daunting task of furniture shopping easy and enjoyable. I recommend checking this place out for your furniture needs. They are honest, upfront, and friendly.
