My experience with Dean was by far the worst I've ever had with a salesperson. Everything started off fine until I mentioned I wanted to explore other options. That's when his attitude completely changed. He began showing me competitor prices, claiming he was giving me the best deal. I told him I needed to speak with my boyfriend first, and he snapped, saying "That's why I told you to bring your significant other." I've never been in a store where you're pressured to bring someone with you, let alone made to feel bad for not doing so.
I explained why my boyfriend couldn't come, and while he finally backed off, I shouldn't have had to justify myself just to be treated with basic respect. As a woman and first-time furniture buyer, I called my dad for advice on the price. I told Dean I was keeping my options open but I did really like the table, and I could instantly see his displeasure. When I asked if I could reach out if I decided to come back, he coldly responded, "I'm good." I was shocked and caught me off guard, never has a salesperson refused a potential sale.
When I pressed him on why, he had no answer and instead gave me looks like I was stupid to buy from somewhere else. Told him I knew other places that can be cheaper and he replied so you rather buy a beat down product then ours. Then in a sassy attitude then suggested we call other furniture stores together if I wanted to check other stores, which felt incredibly manipulative. It became clear he was giving me an ultimatum, I either buy now or don't come back. He was bullying me into buying something from him.
Despite making me uncomfortable, Dean never ended the conversation, he just sat on his phone while I stood there, confused. When I pointed out how unprofessional that was, he sarcastically asked, "I can't be on my phone?" So I left. I stepped into my car ready to messaged the store's Facebook account (which another employee runs) to report the incident, only to realize Dean had blocked me. So that's what he was doing on his phone while I stood there. I walked back in and confronted him about blocking me, he played stupid and acted as if he had no idea. There was a couple walking around so his whole demeanor had changed. At that point I knew he wasn't man enough to admit his wrongs and took advantage of a woman making a sale on her own. He also told me he only works by appointment, yet there was an open sign and store hours on the website. I even saw him helping walk-ins right after I left. I was able to speak with the owner and share everything that happened. Dean was rude, cocky, unprofessional, arrogant, and flat out disrespectful. I would never recommend shopping there as long as he's employed. read more
