Roasted green chilis- start mild then spice up as you approach the seeds.

Went looking for a place to grab lunch on our way through Gallup. One of the reviews said the outside wasn't much to look at and they weren't wrong. But we are adventurous eaters and try not to judge a book by it's cover. We came for the Navajo taco- it was huge (hence the photo with the fork so you can appreciate how huge) and the dough was light so you could actually eat the whole thing. The combo platter was really just 3 kinds of meat on a fry bread. You could add lettuce, tomato and onion. The only meat we didn't like as well was the achii. It tasted exactly like you'd expect intestine stuffed with lamb fat to taste. I'm glad we tried it but I am not compelled to try again. All in all it was a pleasant meal and we hit the road with full tummies.

The biggest frybread in the world. Someone call the Guinness book of world records

Biggest frybread ever! It's like a pizza. Was so fluffy and verrrrry yummy. Just like grandma made but boy, she never made it this big. Will become my new pit stop when passing through Gallup. Achee was so big that I couldn't finish it.

Corn soup, fry bread, and coffee.

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food speaks for itself. The staff were friendly and recommended some corn soup with fry bread. Will return. The bathroom was clean.

    Authentic Navajo food!

We expected authentic dine food and we weren't disappointed. Try it out! Good fry bread as well.

Wow! Best food I've had in a long time!…read more I came for the historic hotel on the way home from Telluride to Scottsdale. There didn't seem to be much around to eat that was open on a Sunday so I came to the hotel restaurant. I saw lots of people had the chips so ordered the trio dip appetizer. The guac was definitely my favorite. So flavorful and fresh! The salsa was delicious but a little extra spicy and the queso was yummy! I ordered a cup of the green chile pork stew and it was spicy but delicious, a little light on the pork but very good. I got the Rita Moreno three chicken enchiladas with green chile. Best chicken enchiladas I've had in a long time! The chicken was moist and had just the right amount. Excellent flavor and melted cheese. The rice and beans were very bland. My friend got the chicken mole and got light sauce but she wished she had got the full sauce because it was that good! The whipped potatoes and sautéed veggies were the perfect accompaniment. I wish this place was where I lived because I would eat here as often as I could. Great atmosphere and service too. Had fun wandering around the gift shop after.

Our server who was a professional and very courteous, had menus in hand and he asked for our drink requests in the same moment. We started with the Trios Dips appetizer house chips with tres dips styles. It was a good start and arrived shortly after our beverages. I had the Ricardo Montalban, a hearty plate with two enchiladas, a taco and a tamale with rice and beans. This is a good meal and filling. The enchiladas were well made and flavorful, the taco as well. The pork tamale was very good and the beans and rice typical very basic. Along with a decent side salad, it was a good meal and we were able to walk from our room. 3.5 Stars rounded up for our server 01200

We're from California and used to having tons of food options, but I had never actually tried fry…read morebread before. We were just passing through Gallup and needed a quick lunch. We found this spot on Yelp and I'm so glad we stopped! We got the fry bread (sandwich) and it completely surprised us. I usually think lamb is too gamey, but this wasn't at all. When I brought it out, my husband thought it was beef at first because of how mild it tasted. The portions are huge. HUGE! One taco was seriously the size of a medium pizza and somehow we still finished it. If you're taking it to go like we did, eat it within 5 to 10 minutes so it doesn't get soggy. They also have free broth and honey inside which was such a nice touch and made it even better. Dipping the fry bread in the broth was a nice touch. Like a lighter consomé. Try it with the honey, too! We did with the remaining fry bread as a bit of a dessert. The best part though was the woman working there. She was so kind, answered all my questions, explained everything, and even gave me a magazine about Gallup. If you want something authentic and filling, definitely stop here.

I've had native food a few times here and there but never in an actual sit-down restaurant setting…read more The lady who was working was extremely nice. I wanted to try everything but settled for the lamb stew and the navajo burger. Like other reviews stated, portions really are HUGE. The broth was even self serve in a hot pot out on a counter which is pretty cool. Super nice on a 10° day. I wasn't sure but it seems like native cooking is very light on additional seasonings as my food wasn't as salty as I usually prefer. Which I guess might be a turn off to some but if that's what traditional cooking is then... yeah. The navajo burger actually had enough flavor from the patty. I loved the fry bread. The broth was amazing, I just wish it were a little more salted but that's something easily fixed. Oh I almost forgot. I guess my brain blocked out the trauma of it but New Meixco is supposedly well known for their chilis and this place has some fire chili. literally. roasted green chilis. but yeah it was painful. I couldn't take it. Definite must for any big spice head. Highly recommend broadening your horizons, trying something new, and supporting a locally owned business!
