Great little spot for some tasty vegetarian food! The staff is very nice and attentive and they provide quick service. They are transitioning to a self service so now you order at the kiosk and food will either be brought over to you or you can grab it at the counter. (We ordered a lot so they were very helpful with our plates, much appreciated.) The Hakka noodles and chaat are always a hit here. It is so flavorful and has a good amount of spice. I also enjoyed the rose falooda, it was delicious and never disappoints either to be honest. Their dosa is also awesome, I would definitely recommend it. The sambar and chutney is flavorful and hits the spot too. We also tried the gobi Manchurian and it was tasty but nothing special. I'd probably recommend trying other things unless you are particularly a fan of cauliflower. The Bombay sandwich was just okay, it could have been better with some more classic flavors- it would have been great if they added the amul, potatoes, & masala. But it was still good and vegan friendly, but I probably wouldn't get it again from here. I haven't really had a lot of Indian food before this experience, and oh boy did it deliver. This place is now a self serve restaurant. You order at the counter and they call your table number and get your food. There is someone walking away if you need help and will sometimes bring your food over to you. From your seats you can see in to the whole kitchen and there is plenty of seating. The food comes out pretty quickly. Everything we ate was scrumptious. I really enjoyed the dosa and dipping it in the three different sauces. The noodles and cauliflower were spicy in a good way, I could have gone for even spicier. First time having yogurt in a savory dish and wasn't mad about it. Added a bit of sweetness to help combat the spicy spices as well as cool the mouth from the spices. Overall, I would come back here. Great introduction to Indian food and to have the Indian flavors mixed with different cultures as well was a new one as well to me. read more

I come here very often. It is easily my favorite vegetarian Indian place in the area. It has an amazing selection of dishes with a fusion of traditional Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisines. Flavors are always on point and food is delivered extremely quick. I highly recommend getting multiple dishes to share, it is the best way to enjoy the experience fully. The staff is always friendly and attentive. All servers attend you instead of having one server assigned to you. I think it works great! The place has plenty of parking and it has been recently renovated to have a more modern look. They now serve cocktails and beer as well which is always a welcomed sight. They offer a cash discount (instead of a CC surcharge). Even though they welcome cards they don't have an option to tip servers with it so please bring cash at least for tipping! read more

Amazing chaat experience at Bombay Talk! Can easily say the food and ambience is significantly better at this location in comparison to the Iselin one. Between 5 people, we ordered 2 tokri chaats (a must here), chili paneer, 1 mysore masala dosai, 1 spring dosai, and samosa chaat. It was a perfect amount of food to share and every item was so delicious. We ended our meal with mango lassis - another item way better here than at the Iselin one. Indian vegetarian fast food. Good service, good selection and good food. Everything we tried was good if not great. The samosas were too spicy for the kids. They offer 5% discount for cash. Unfortunately I found out when was handing my CC to the server. Oh well. I highly recommend the rose falooda for anyone who can't handle spicy or just enjoys a cool sweet dessert. My partner and I are vegan have been for decades... I traveled an hour and a half to try out this new restaurant that my partner told me about... We walk in and it looks like a fast food joint like McDonald's... They have a huge billboard, sign out front advertising vegetarian/vegan food... We sat down, and our server had no idea what vegan food was... She got her manager who came and told us that there were four dishes on the entire menu that she could alter to make vegan and all of them involved rice, which I do not eat... We left the restaurant, so I can't comment on the quality of the food. But if you're vegan, don't bother going here because despite the gigantic billboard, they have nothing to do with vegan food. read more

There's magic in the food at Dimple's Bombay Talk. No matter what you take a bite or sip of, your face will light up at the flavors flying through your mouth! The "Paan Shot", though we finished our meal with, I'll review first so you make sure you order it. It's the most refreshing way to clean your palate after all the oily food (oily in a great way!). The Paan Shot is milk based, so the Paan flavor isn't as overwhelming as eating the leaf straight. I could go for an entire Paan Smoothie it was so good! The "Davi Puri" was my favorite dish. There are so many different sauces and garnishes topping it, but somehow they coalesce into a flavor that really works. You can't go wrong with any of their "Dosas", but I preferred the "Uttapam" because it's thicker. The unsung hero of both dishes is the "Sambar" (soup) served on the side. Meant for dipping your bread in, you'll want to chug it on its own because it's so good. The "Gobi Manchurian" is a must eat. To many, the sound of "fried cauliflower" may sound off putting, but trust me when I tell you that even a carnivore would consider going vegetarian for this dish. It comes out hot and piping, it's oh so saucy and tangy! I'd skip out on the "Idli Vada" and the "Chili Cheese Dosa". The former just isn't as flavorful as other items on the menu. The latter made me want for cheese pizza. Since it doesn't come with a sauce, it just tastes too cheesy. All in all though, might as well call this "Dumbledore's" Bombay Talk because the spell they've cast on me is proving unbreakable. I can't wait to return! read more

I'm not always familiar with all the traditional names of a dish, no matter the cuisine I choose when I dine out. 1st time here and 1st time trying these dishes. The Gobi Manchurian was delicious, tho I expected the cauliflower to have a little crunch because it's battered fried, then covered in sauce, I guess it soaked up all that yummy Manchurian gravy. I also braced myself for the heat known in Indian cuisine, to my surprise, it was just PERFECT for me!!! Not too spicy at all but enough for a slight sniffle. 1-5 it's a 2.1 on the heat level. I will most certainly order this again! Also served with basmati rice, and I ordered 2 pieces of plain roti-like bread (it wasn't naan) to sop up some of that gravy! The Chick Peas was absurdly delicious!! You know how you can smell the spices but the dish falls short and it doesn't quite mimic that aroma? Well this dish will not disappoint! Seasoned and taste like the scent! Again I braced myself for heat but it was THE BEST CHICK PEA DISH I'VE HAD THUS FAR IN NJ!!! From 1-5, it was a 1 in heat level and that's fine by me! Served with 2 pieces of fluffy, lightly fried dough, onions slices, pickled something (interesting but good) and yogurt on the side (I don't eat dairy) I was really happy making a roti-like wrap of this dish. My only negative is it wasn't enough!! Most definitely my favorite dish and will order this every time I return visit!!! read more

WOW I cannot believe I have never been in here before. I pass it all the time, but honestly we were such big Rajpoot fans we just never had a desire to try something else. Sadly, Rajpoot was taken over by new owners and went down the drain so it got us to venture across the street to Bombay! First thing we noticed when we walked in, was how clean it was, everything was spotless..I'm a stickler for eating at clean places but even S commented at how clean he thought it was and he doesn't usually mention that. I personally felt it's laid out more like a fast food place with bright lights and TVs and way too loud music playing, and with this quality of food, it may serve them better to make to a more peaceful eating atmosphere where they would attract a more upscale crowd. BYOB would be great as well. That said, they have some of the sweetest employees, everyone we came in contact with was smiling and seemed happy to be working there. Very different, vegetarian menu. the lovely waitresses took her time explaining each dish to us and everything was so delicious! I'm not big on eating fried foods and many things have fried components, but we were able to mix and match for a healthier option. Although we both agreed that next time we are trying a dish they make in a fried potato basket with chick peas..it looked so good! We were making conversation with the table next to us, as they overheard us trying to figure out what was what and they gave us some good suggestions for next time. Please excuse my lack of knowledge of the names of things. First we had dosa with a potato, cashew filling..it was huge for only $8.95! Super flaky crust like a crispy crepe and flavorful potatoes with cashews inside. This came with two dipping sauces one cold made from coconut and herbs and another tomato based which was warm (I wanted to drink this one like soup it was flavorful). They offer a paper dosa which believe it or not is even bigger than this one (about the length of the table but just not as thick as the traditional dosa, more like Phyllo dough). We are definitely trying that one next time. We also had chat something or other..its a cold lentil salad with yogurt sauce maybe some tamarind? delicious whatever it was! Then our favorite dish was the paneer dish made with tomatoes..similar to saag paneer which is baked cheese with spinach but they use tomatoes instead and the cheese melts into it..YUM we ordered garlic naan with it, which is made to order and was the perfect combination of crispy and chewy with garlic butter on top..we devoured everything! We were told that closing time of kitchen was 930, but we could stay till 10 to continue dinner. We were also told that there would be vegan options. Our sever did not know what was vegan and what was not. He told me to order south indian. Kitchen was out of dosa batter, so they asked me to order something else. They also spike up the price if you ask to replace paneer from tofu. No restaurant in my experience does this. Server also did not serve us water. Food was good. Ambience was okay Service was horrible. You could have told us that you would not be able to accommodate us at closing time. Extremely horrible experience even after spending money. read more

Ive driven by for close to year but today I decided to give Dimple's Bombay Talk a try. From the moment I stepped inside I could tell this place was concerned with QUALITY. the restaurant is clean, and bright with a very welcoming atmosphere. They have a large menu offering traditional Indian, Thai, and Chinese fusion items. NOTE: the restaurant is 100% vegetarian, but dont let that dissuade you!!! I ordered two menu items and wow, they were both amazing. flavorful without being overly spicy, and the presentation of the food was that of what you'd expect from an upscale resturant. and the cost you may ask, well, its VERY affordable. i was able to get a tremendous amout of food for about $12. (mind you, almost everything is less than $10). I did end up splurging toward the end and ordered a mango lassi for another $4 and I'm glad I did. again, fresh, flavorful, and not overly sweet like some places ive tried in the past. If you're in the area, give this place a try, you wont regret it! read more

I have been to my fair share of fast casual Indian spots similar to Bombay Talk, and this one serves up consistent food quality but with some odd ambiance and service. You will get to eat the food you like, including some Asian fusion, and it'll be good. I can assure you of that. But this location needs some more of Dimple's love. Something about entering here makes me feel a little stressed out. Is it the fluorescent lighting, or the fact that it's always crowded (read: filled with people who enjoy their food), or was it the single bathrooms without stalls? I had a bunch of different things here. --Bhel Puri: a little too sweet but hit the spot. --Bombay Sandwich: get this! Very well done and and with a twist, since it also filled with a layer of beets. --Vada Pav: Spicy, but spot-on; the pav is perfectly toasted. --Kachhi Dabeli: one of my favorites on the menu, it's a huge sandwich and has all of the best flavors. I feel as if the service could use some touch ups, because it feels very rushed. Or maybe, they're just trying to really embody what it feels like to be in Bombay. My sister and I came here on our way to Newark. When we first drove up, we were a little hesitant to go in because it was close to 6 pm on a Monday and the place was empty. After reading reviews and seeing how the menu offered so much variety, we decided to give it a try anyways. We were SO glad that we decided to go in!! First of all, the staff were all extremely friendly and so helpful and quick to get us seated. The waiter was very attentive to our needs and basically made it so we never had to ask for anything. We ordered the samosa chaat, plain dosa, dry gobi manchurian, and pav bhaji. Everything was absolutely delicious!! Not overly greasy like some Indian restaurants make their food. The food was packed with flavor and tasted homemade. Everything was made so quickly and was just absolutely incredible. For two decent sized eaters, we were able to still have some leftovers. The portion sizes are great for the price. I highly highly recommend this place to anyone wanted really good Indian food!!! Also side note, for anyone who is strict Jain, the menu offers options to make items on the menu appropriate for a Jain diet. I have never seen that before and thought that was wonderful. read more

Dabeli sandwich was a nice discovery, Dahi Vada looked freshly defrosted and cold but still tasted good. Stay away from Pani puri - didn't even taste close to the real thing. Was disappointed this evening overall. My masala dosa was good although I wold have liked a bit more sambar with it. My wife's Hakka noodles were tasteless and too oily. The vinegar at the table seemed it was diluted since there was virtually no acid in it. The restaurant was warm but poorly ventilated so that we were covered in oily cooking odor when we left. Given the experience we thought it was overpriced. Maybe they were having a bad day but we are not going back anytime soon to find out. read more
