I spent almost a full 3 years taking riding lessons from multiple different instructors at Sage Creek. The atmosphere at the facility is toxic. The owner and other riders snap at each other, screaming and swearing at each other. This is not a family friendly environment. From the start of my time, I told my first instructor Jacob that I wanted to continue practicing my English riding and horsemanship. It took him 4 lessons before he was able to give me an English lesson. After me asking multiple times if he was able to put me on an English saddle. Jacob and other coaches I worked with consistently pressured me to do competitions when I had no interest and made that clear. All instructors, including the owner, Donnette, are unreliable. I drove from an hour away, and it was not uncommon for me to arrive to find out my instructor scheduled two lessons at once, if not finding out the whole barn was out of town for a show and the staff simply weren't there. Donnette, specifically would consistently forget about lessons. I would have to confirm with text to make sure she'd be there just to have her still schedule another student on my time. Donnette has a history of emotional outbursts, discussion and communication are impossible with Donnette, if you expect to have a working relationship with your riding instructor she is not for you. Donnette expects sub-ordinance and no questions. Donnette, Dana, and Rebecca all contribute to the toxic environment at the barn by complaining about their clients loudly. I knew the barn had a problem with gossip and bullying but never imagined it could be so childish. One day I arrived at the barn and was told I was double booked. I was irritated but started to prepare for the lesson anyways. As I put in my ear peice radio, I heard Donnette around the corner with her previous client on her own radio. She was belittling me, thinking I couldn't hear her, " ...she looked like she was going to cry!" I told her I was leaving after I heard her and she yelled at me that I'm banned from her property and didn't stop yelled at me until I walked away. This barn is a joke. I refuse to stoke the owners ego anymore, and do not know why I put up with it for so long, such a waste of money. If anything this barn is 100% NOT child friendly.

The trainers are very experienced and absolutely know what they are doing. It's also very clear how…read moremuch they love and respect the horses. I do think that the advertisement for 'all levels' of lessons is tailored more towards children. The adults I saw taking lessons seemed much more advanced. I had ridden on and off for years, and wanted to get back to basics because I lacked any real knowledge of appropriate technique. I was also interested in the emphasis on dressage because roughly speaking, it's about moving with the horse and using your body more than the reins. The acutal lessons itself made it clear how knowledgable the trainers were. However, every other aspect of the experience was negative. The indoor ring was busy with multiple lessons occuring at once and people tacking up the horses while trying to give appropriate space in close quarters, which is where I felt the most ill at ease. I was new to the space and the personaliity of the horses, and I didn't want to do anything incorrectly by spooking a horse or interrupting a lesson with a question. I felt like a nusience and a waste of their time. Other people seemed to be treated with more patience (like the parents of the children taking lessons and lobbying for their child to be put on a certain horse), but for some reason, it felt like I couldn't do anything right. I was there to learn and it was discouraging since I would drive 40 miles round trip for each lesson.

Southern Belle Riding and Ammie the owner are by far the best place to board and take lessons. Ammie is very detail oriented and can fix even the toughest habits the rider or horse may have. I recently visited the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale with a local friend whose father is…read moreburied there, and it was one of the most peaceful and moving places I've experienced in Utah. Seeing the cemetery through her eyes made the visit especially meaningful. She told me how much comfort she finds in coming here and after spending time on the grounds, I completely understood why. The first thing that struck me was how beautiful the setting is. The gently rolling lawns are immaculately maintained, with rows of uniform, flush-mounted grave markers stretching across the landscape. The Wasatch Mountains provide a stunning backdrop, creating a quiet sense of dignity that never feels overwhelming. Despite the size of the cemetery, it feels incredibly serene. There's a chapel sitting on a hill overlooking the grounds, and its peaked roof and vaulted ceilings give it a simple but elegant presence. Even from the outside, it feels like a place designed for reflection and remembrance (if you're religious). One surprise was the small museum on the property. It contains military memorabilia highlighting Utah's military history. It isn't large, but adds meaningful context to the sacrifices represented throughout the cemetery. My friend shared photos from Memorial Day, when every roadway and section of the cemetery is lined with thousands of American flags. She described how emotional it is to see the entire park transformed into a sea of red, white, and blue, and after visiting myself, I can easily imagine how powerful that experience must be. What stayed with me most wasn't any single monument or building, but the atmosphere. People visited quietly, some placing flowers, others simply sitting beside loved ones. There was a genuine feeling of respect shared by everyone there. Although this is the final resting place for Utah's veterans, their spouses, and eligible dependents, the grounds are open to the public daily from dawn to dusk. Whether you're visiting a loved one, attending a public ceremony, or simply wanting to pay your respects, it's a place that welcomes quiet reflection. My friend left feeling the same sense of peace she always finds here, and I left with a deep appreciation for how beautifully Utah honors those who served.

The hike is relatively short, making it a great choice for families, beginners, or anyone looking for a quick outdoor adventure with a rewarding destination. The trail is well traveled and easy to follow, although there are a few rocky sections that require careful footing. Once you reach the waterfall, you're greeted by a peaceful setting with flowing water, towering canyon walls, and plenty of places to stop and enjoy the scenery. Since the waterfall is fed by a natural spring, it's especially nice knowing you can enjoy it throughout the year. One thing we really appreciated was how accessible this hike is. You can escape into nature without needing to drive deep into the mountains, making it a perfect option for a morning hike, an evening walk, or a spontaneous outdoor adventure. We also appreciated how well visitors respected the trail and surrounding area. It's important to stay on the designated path and be mindful of the nearby neighborhood so this hidden gem can remain enjoyable for everyone. The trail starts with 60+ stair steps, then it levels out into mostly flat gravel. Closer to the waterfall, there are some small rocks, and light water streams run over them, so just watch your step to avoid slipping. I climbed up the big rocks to get a closer look at the upper waterfall stream. Overall, it was an easy hike, but I spent a good few hours there soaking in the quiet nature during the week. There were only a handful of other hikers. On the way back, I did a short detour onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail for about 30 mins in before I turned around since I wasn't familiar with that route.

I wouldn't say this was an easy hike, but more of a short hike, with a pretty cool waterfall at the…read moreend for kids. No parking anywhere close to the trailhead. This tail is in a neighborhood therefore there is no parking on the street in the neighborhood. There is parking out on the main road. After you find parking you have to walk through the neighborhood on the sidewalk up a steady incline. The trailhead starts out with stairs which are hard to climb for little legs. After the stairs the trail get easier but is rocky. After you get to the waterfall, if the water is low, you can actually stand underneath it, or really close to it. On the decent down if your shoes are wet be careful. It can be slippery over the rocks, and then there is a patch of trail that is really sandy. Slip, slide... There is a part of the trail where you can head south on the BTL, but we just headed back to the car. On the way down walking through the neighborhood there was a house that had two deer running around their yard that was gated. I have no idea how they got in there as the house has a very tall fence. Good trail for the little kid, but trail is narrow, and very crowded. I would suggest going in the late afternoon, as there isn't as many people.
