We bought our home in February of 2020. Our AC unit went out in July of 2022, 29 months later…read more Miller Cooling and Heating came out and recommended a full condenser unit replacement. The price was a little above market average, but they were willing to workout an in house financing option for us, so we were pleased.... at first. In August 2023, the same brand new unit lost a compressor only 13 months after a complete installation and replacement. The reason it went out was due to a leak in freon inside the walls right next to the condenser unit. They honored our warranty and only charged us for a service call and gave prompt and timely service... but then charged me over $2000 to replace the copper piping they say wasn't their fault... they claim it was "vibration" that damaged the pipe and they weren't responsible for the small crack in the pipe in the crease of the bend.... However, 29 months that same pipe held up just fine in my old AC unit. Once they replaced the condenser and attached to it, it barely lasted a year. The Crack is very very small... It seems logical to me that it would take 13 months to lose between 12-15 pounds of freon from that small of a crack, which indicates to me that Miller Cooling and Heating cracked that pipe while replacing the condenser and didn't want to pay for it. Shaun was very rude on the phone and refused to work with me at all, most of the charge coming from labor.... I have spoken with several AC specialists since then, offering up my paperwork stating charges and services and they all believe that Miller Cooling and Heating is to blame. I am an avid supporter of small business, but i have yet to pay the 2000 they want to charge me. If Shaun were willing to work with me I wouldn't be on here right now... but I can assure you that if you are seeking an honest company, this isn't the one you are seeking. Go somewhere else and save yourself potential money... because if they make a mistake, they certainly won't own up for it. In fact, they will find a way for you to pay for the service to save themselves money. Avoid at all cost.

Even though they said they would send me a refund. Context: I had a new HVAC build plus ductwork on a 1,000 sq ft home. For the most part the equipment works fine with the exception that it seems undersized when we have extreme climates in San Antonio (i.e below 30 degrees or in the upper 90s) as it struggles to maintain desired temperature in those situations. For the heater, my desired temp is ~66 degrees in the winter and for the AC, the desired temp is about 75 degrees in summer. I change out my filters twice a month since I have dogs and I run all my fans and have good overall insulation in my house. Regardless, I never really complained about these issues since I paid about half of what I would have paid for an HVAC system from a larger company. You get what you pay for. My issue with Miller Cooling and Heating company is their customer service. The one time I did call them regarding an issue the tone in voice I got from Shawn over the phone was very defensive and I was not even coming in strong to deserve that but quite frankly, I've felt this way every time I talked to him. When they came onsite to address my issue I was sold an "annual priority membership service" for $165 and they were supposed to come out twice a year to maintain the system health but they never came. Every time I would try to call them about it I would get ghosted and or get the runaround. At this point, I've talked to a Molly, a "Larry" which might've been a chat bot I don't know and I've tried talking with Shawn directly. Nonetheless this phone tag game spanned over the course of a year and when I finally got tired of it I asked for a refund which they said they would honor half but that was about a month ago in early April 2025 and still have not received anything. At this point I'm tired of dealing with this, it's not the customers job to keep track of their schedule. It's very unprofessional of them to put it on the customer to be on top of their bi annual service schedule. How am I supposed to know when you guys do your rounds? I'll be filing a complaint and taking my business elsewhere. It's a shame because I even referred them to a relative and gave them business but still got treated poorly. I never was malicious and I was SUPER patient with them but that only seemed to make matters worse.

They give you options to pay, including a discount if you pay with a check, cashiers check On the date of installation, they arrived on time, and protected the flooring. Employee 1 arrived and began working on the outside. Employee 2 arrived and began working on the inside unit. Ryan, the owner, arrived with the equipment and I was able to take photos of the new equipment and see the old equipment out. He stepped away and his two employees continued working. The owner returned and was doing the finishing things. Installation was completed as projected. Overall, a great experience. Very happy. I wouldn't go elsewhere. Our families recommended C&J as an honest straight forward company that stood behind their work. They may not be cheap, but what they install works . . . period. If it doesn't the will getting working. We had them replace that system with a 14 SEER twelve years ago and we follow up with an annual contract to make sure thing keep running since we both have to stay home now that the Wife is retired and I'm still . . . well. Two men came to do the repair; one was the primary and the other was A novice. Originally the primary wanted over $600 to fix the one in MBdrm and the hall bathroom. I ended up paying $351.00 to have the valve replaced in the master bedroom. I realize than was a very poor decision on my part, I should have told them to leave and called another company.. the sad thing is a company works hard to gain trust of Their customers and a bad experience loses them a customer. At about 4:15 pm on 2/4/22 we discovered a leak on the side of the house. A section of PVC pipe…read morehad burst. The pipe was used for filling the pool. It had its own valve and connected to the copper feed from the street. I cut off the water at the street and then started calling plumbers. Schaffer, which I called about 4:45 pm, was the only one of three companies we called that could make it out the same day. (Everyone was very busy because of freezing weather). They said they'd be here between 5pm and 7pm. They were here around 5:45pm. They capped the copper that fed the PVC and we were done. They also did a number of other checks. The phone attendant was really courteous, and took the time to find an available plumber, after I explained that it was probably a 20-minute job at best (which it was). The plumber, John, was professional, courteous, and explained everything to us perfectly clearly regarding what we needed to do next, etc. I couldn't have been happier with the response and the service, especially with the prospect of going without water for anywhere from 2 to 5 days again (After the Feb 21 snow event/loss of water). The invoice we received in email was detailed, and included a number of high quality photos of the repair site. After a really, really bad experience with another A/C and plumbing company last year, Schaffer was a refreshing change.
