This is a satisfying stop whenever we ride through the area. On weekends and nice days there's usually a line so be prepared for a bit of a wait. The burgers are well-seasoned and pretty tasty - I like to add a couple of onion rings for crunch. The fried foods (we had fries, seasoned curly fries, onion rings, and chicken tenders) are like any stadium fried foods. I enjoyed my strawberry milkshake but wish it were more strawberry flavored. I wouldn't say the food is memorable or extraordinary, but it's the classic stuff and hits the spot, especially after walking/riding around. So we went on a 4 hour tubing excursion and when we finished we were all starving. Now we can't just go anywhere because we are wet and in bathing suits. I start searching and find this place. They have picnic benches so it's perfect. One of my cohorts starts complaining saying this place is terrible they used to come here and it's gross blah blah blah. So I was like ok how long ago? Oh you haven't been there in a decade? Ok we are going. We get there and it's cool because it's an order window and a pick up window. Tons of outside seating. The bathrooms are kinda hidden. They are around back. The food came up quick. All of us got the beer bartered cod and curly fries. I also got a root beer float. The cod was awesome and the fries were perfectly crispy. The float was pretty good. The root beer could've been a better brand. Tasted like it might have been A treat or something to that effect. The skeptic changed their tune by the end of it. We came here after a day of kayaking. It's one of the first places you'll find where you can sit in a damp bathing suit and eat. We got the tilapia sandwich and grilled chicken . We have been going to Dilly's for over 20 years. It was always a special treat to stop and eat on a warm summer night. Last week we made a trip up the river to a have Dilly burger and milkshake. We were really surprised to see how much their prices have gone up, $10.95 for a burger, $5.00 for small fries, and $7.00 for a milkshake. With tax that's $25 a person, $100 for a family of four to go to Dilly's!!! We were told at 7:30 that we would have to get it to go because they close at 8:00, huh? I've been coming to Dilly's, periodically, since I was kid. It was always a real treat, as recently as three or four years ago. The good news is they have reopened following the massive flood in early September in the wake of Tropical Storm Ida. The bad news is the food was disappointing. The two Dilly Cheeseburgers we ordered were a bit bland. They didn't taste bad; they just didn't taste like anything really. And the fries, while substantial in quantity, had WAY too much salt on them. Having spent $38 for two burgers, two large fries and two lemonades, I feel like the historic quality I've known from years ago should have been in evidence. Unfortunately it wasn't. I'll give them another shot next summer. I hope the quality of their burgers and fries improves by then. read more

Finally made it back to Dilly's! Man oh man it has been way too long. Right after you cross the bridge from Stockton into PA, you'll see Dilly's straight ahead and probably with a giant crowd. On a VERY hot and sunny Sunday, I stopped by with my parents, all three of us craving ice cream. There was a line of course, but it moved very quickly. This is a *Covid times* review so they were asking for either credit/Venmo or exact change as payment. People were doing their best to social distance in line and and all employees were wearing masks. They didn't have soft serve at the time and were down to only chocolate and vanilla ice cream when we got there. Kind of a bummer but the ice cream was still delicious and was exactly what we needed on a 90 degree day. And less than $12 for 2 milkshakes and a double scoop of ice cream. Really nice eating establishment steps from the canal and bike trail, and on a beautiful day like the afternoon when we came over, an unbeatable outdoor location. Dilly's has takeout only, you order and pay at one window, then get your food at another window, and finally you (and your group) go seat and enjoy your food at one of the covered pavilions surrounding the nearly half an acre of outdoor covered space. The food is delicious. My husband had a sumptuous pulled pork sandwich and I had a delicious grilled Tilapia sandwich that, had we not been to a wedding, I would have repeated. The sandwiches came with cole slaw, fries and pickles and these were also delicious Food wise this is a winner. My only complaint is that the huge sign outside advertises burgers, fish, ice cream and frozen yogurt. But they've never had frozen yogurt according to the salesperson. The other point is their extensive use of plastic and styrofoam. I wish they would use a more eco sensitive alternative. read more

Does Solebury have a health department? I'm thinking not.. because If there was, this place would not still be open. Everything about this restaurant is now disgusting. Whoever bought Dilly's took a local fun gem of a summer tradition and destroyed it. They're charging a premium for subpar food, subpar service, subpar service, and subpar ambience, and beyond subpar cleanliness. They literally wrote in marker on their walls-- a la something out of The Shining. These scrawled words direct their customers to bus their own tables, clean the table tops (if they would like a somewhat grime-free dining experience), not to use one of the gates to the bathrooms, indicating that there's an up charge for everything from condiments to cups of water, and to tip what I'm sure are their poorly paid seasonal employees. Really, the only things that remain of the original Dilly's are the menu items, the signage by the road, and their playing card system of calling orders, Also, the food was terrible! I got a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich that consisted of crappy grocery store Wonder Bread, tomatoes that could've been ripe and nice... but weren't, and fluorescent yellow craft singles that you have to harvest from their plastic wrap. My french fries were so salty I couldn't even eat them. My daughter got a bacon cheeseburger. They use that bacon that comes pre-cooked and apparently they can't even be bothered to crisp it up before throwing it on the burger, because they didn't. We got milkshakes that were basically soupy soft serve in Styrofoam cups that will outlive us (and probably survive the next Ice Age). We have some decent burger places in the area. Yes, they're expensive, but so is Dilly's and the other burger places don't suck. A true indication of the utter failure of this restaurant is the fact that a seasonal business that used to have lines 20 to 40 people deep at all times, now has no wait and is only open till 7 PM on a July evening. After going to Dilly's at least once a week all through the Pandemic, My husband being high risk we always called ahead. On 8/14/20 we called ahead, I was asked to hold (no problem) 10 minutes later I am disconnected and when I am finally able to get back through, the same female worker that asked me to hold now refused to take our order stating they were too busy and when I asked to speak to a manager, he could be heard telling the employee to say he wasn't available! I haven't been to Dilly's since I was in high school. I'm not sure why I stopped going either, I was probably too lazy to drive the 3ish miles. But I'm happy I dusted my bicycle off and rode up the canal to try it again. I will be making weekly trips now. I ordered a Dilly Cheeseburger, a large order of Curly Fries and an order of Onion Rings. The burger was perfectly cooked and topped with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. I am a big fan of condiments and love a burger with ketchup, mustard and mayo BUT I was happy eating my Dilly Cheeseburger as is, with just the mayo. The Rings were good too. I liked how the batter actually stuck to the onion and didn't crumble off when I'd take a bite. I also managed to save room for a small Swirl. Hello food coma. I loved being able to sit outside. The seating area was very clean and virtually bug-less. Usually eating outside means flies and bees/yellow jackets but I wasn't bothered by anything - probably because the areas were properly maintained. Dilly's is fantastic - an institution along this part of the Delaware. It's a roadside burger stand, but so much more. During this extended crisis they've kept open 7 days a week, serving up their excellent menu via take-out, asking only that people follow well-posted and reasonable rules that allow them to stay open and safe for their customers and staff alike. My son regularly demands fries, a dog-dog, and ice cream, and will only accept them from Dilly's, so we are frequent, loyal, and happy customers. read more

The is a great local gem! We love to stop here after taking our bikes out for a spin. It has covered outdoor seating. In the wintertime they put out heaters to keep you warm! My dad and brother are hooked on this place but I never liked it because I thought all they had was soft serve ice cream . Apparently that's not the case. I got a milkshake and it was pretty good but I've never tried anything else out from their menu. They did give us a lot of ice cream though. This place is isn't open very long and they close semi frequently because of flooding. During the season it also gets pretty crowded and their aren't a lot of seats. The parking situation is not the greatest either and it's hard to get in and out of their lot because of the intersection it's on. Dilly's is a New Hope staple. Love it or hate it, there is no denying that it is everything you want in summer. The burger is standard, the curly fries are perfectly crisp, and the ice cream is above average. During the Coronavirus outbreak, they were open. We have not tried the "winter" menu but maybe one year we will. Keeping this childhood memory or my child's summer new memory is worth it. read more

This is the best summer time burger & ice cream style restaurant I've ever been to! They've been around forever, just changed owners and I have to say the good ol' Dilly's we all loved hasn't changed at all, in fact I think it got better. The menu is straightforward: burgers, hot dogs, chicken & fish sandwiches, ice cream, floats and milkshakes. They also have the most amazing curly fries (truly, if you go you must get these). I had their special pulled pork sandwich which was fantastic--best pulled pork I've had, hands down. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Everything is fresh and tasty. Definitely the place to go to satisfy your burger and ice cream cravings. The burgers are juicy and the onion rings and French fries are the perfect crispy sidekick. There are healthier options also available such as the grilled chicken sandwich, fish sandwich, and black bean burger. The soft serve is very creamy and they are generous with toppings and sauces. They have a true baby cone/cup too for when you really only want just a taste. We have never had a bad meal and are always waited on by nice employees. They do accept credit cards which is great because they used to be cash only. I also appreciate that they will fill your reusable water bottle for you. There is inside seating, outside under umbrellas and outside seating under a roof with plastic siding available. The only downside is the parking lot as it is tight and spots are limited; however, Dilly's has signs asking nicely that once you are done to please not hang around forever so other people can park and enjoy the place. I would like to give a special shout out to the man working and cleaning the outside as we were there when it was raining. This man pushed the water out of the way so people would not have to walk through puddles. He also wiped down the outside tables once the rain was over so people could eat outside.
