BEWARE OF PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER - TRYON!!! TECHNICIAN NAMED NICKEY!! PLEASE READ FOR YOUR…read moreSAFETY!!! I picked up my u-haul equipment on January 18, 2025 at 8:30 AM. This is my second time renting a U-Haul from this location. I've usually don't like going there because it's so dirty and the door doesn't have a handle. After picking up my truck I drove it about 15 miles to my old address. I was moving to Greenville South Carolina so that's about 55 miles + away from Asheville. After getting my truck loaded, I started to head to South Carolina and the truck started to stall, and then it broke down on the side of the highway. After speaking to roadside assistance, they sent PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER-TRYON (I CALLED BACK THE NUMBER AND HE TRIED TO PRETEND HE DIDN'T REMEMBER ME! I MADE UP A FAKE NAME AND HE AGREED THAT IT WAS HIS NAME! COMPLETELY DISHONEST AND DISGUSTING) HIS NAME IS NICKEY! he told me all I needed was fuel. I went to the gas station and filled the U-Haul with a full tank. I became hesitant after my first experience and didn't understand how that could happen because the U-Haul was at a quarter tank, I pleaded with him and ask him are you sure the U-Haul's OK to drive I'm going all the way to South Carolina and he told me "it should be". I Started driving about 10 miles and this time the U-Haul started to vibrate, stalled out on me and almost left me in the middle of traffic so then I was stranded again on the side of the road. I tried to get off at the next exit which was exit 53 but the vehicle jolted and terrified me. I ended up having to drive on the side of the shoulder just in case the truck shut off on me. After that experience and barely making it to the Cracker Barrel parking lot, I was not going to drive that car again because I knew in my gut and from my short experience in the vehicle that it was NOT SAFE. I sat in that parking lot for over four hours because they would not send someone to tow the car because That service technician NICKEY from PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER-TYRON kept telling them that the vehicle was safe to drive after recently putting my life at risk. After the third hour, they sent a second technician and within five minutes there were three codes that came up on the vehicle and he told me I wouldn't of made it 5 miles(I have picture and video evidence). This location put me in a truck that put my life at risk and if I didn't have enough sense to stand up for myself and not drive the vehicle again I know I definitely wouldn't made it to South Carolina, but I also don't know if I would still be alive today. This was complete negligence on U-Haul part but specifically this location. It's clear whoever was supposed to inspect the vehicle to make sure they were in safe driving conditions drop the ball and did not do their job! What I went through that day nobody deserves to go through. I'm still traumatized from sitting on the side of the highway by myself and having my family calling me worried about me and my safety. Everyone is to blame in this situation and I'm still waiting for U-Haul to make it right specifically this location at 3161 sweeten creek rd. I have already submitted all my documents for reimbursement through roadside assistance customer Service as I was directed to and I still haven't received a call. I am completely disgusted. I will never rent a U-Haul from this location again, but I don't think I would ever rent a U-Haul again in my life after what I experienced. The toll that this took on my body and my mind was completely unfair to me. PIERCE TIRE AND SERVICE CENTER - TRYON YOU DIDN'T INITIALLY PUT ME IN THE U-HAUL BUT YOU CONTRIBUTED TOWARDS PUTTING MY LIFE AT RISK BECAUSE OF YOUR LAZY INCOMPETENT WORKER NICKEY THAT COULD'NT BE BOTHERED TO DO HIS JOB CORRECTLY. I CALLED FROM TWO DIFFERENT NUMBERS HE ANSWERED BOTH TIMES AND I RECOGNIZED HIS VOICE SO I HAVE A FEELING THAT THIS COWARD MAY BE THE OWNER! THEY SENT SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNEW HOW TO DO THEIR JOB! Not only were they opened in a time like this (June 22,2016) but they made time to get me in same day so that I could be at work the very next morning so far from North Carolina. The staff made small talk and we exchanged stories about our families while we waited for our van to be fixed. It wasn't just a sterile waiting room while you wait for a mechanic to do who knows what and charge you who knows how much experience that you get at a corporate national repair shop. After our van was fixed the mechanic showed me what he found, what he did to fix it, and how he tested his work after it was finish to ensure we wouldn't be stranded again after leaving his/their shop.

The Geek Squad completely messed it up. Took the truck back to Geek Squad a second time for them to resolve and just crap. I had to get a real audio installer, so I looked around and found Elite Audio in Spartanburg. I live in Anderson, so it was a bit of a drive and a gamble. I must say it was worth the drive and investment. They reinstalled my new head unit and fixed all the bad wiring, programmed everything correctly and I had them do a complete upgrade of the speakers, added an amp and a custom sub-woofer box with 2 10" woofers as well as sound dead mat. I used all the Memphis Audio equipment. They were amazing to deal with and the results are just what I was looking for. This system is the complete audio sound, and it hits hard.
