A lot of places in Galena cater to tourists....this one does not. But in a good way. It's just a very genuine bar/diner (in that order--the bar is the majority of this restaurant, and then there are three small tables). Everyone in this place seems to know each other--the servers and the customers--and it kinda seemed like some were both??? So when we came in, they seemed a little confused, but then service was still friendly. The food is decent--not spectacular, but still pretty good, and the menu had some interesting options to try. If you're looking for something non-touristy, this may be the place for you. Don't bring a big group, though--you won't fit.

Looked up the reviews of the locals and this place came up. It is away from the heart of downtown, inside a pub on a quiet street. The server was friendly and the service fuss free. The pizza and fillings tasted great, the dough also soft.

My first time here. Went here with 2 coworkers on a recommendation to eat breakfast here. It's a few blocks out of downtown. Easy parking out front or across the street. Cozy. Great menu. Great prices. Great service. Great portions. And the Sidemeat was outstanding. Let the server tell you about it before you order it. So yummy I am going back again soon. I also saw they have lunch specials so I will be trying one of those too.

First, I've never had the pizza. And I wish they offered pizza slices to go. I have been to Dillon's quite a few times for a beer, lunch and lately breakfast. Dillon's is the quintessential knotty pine corner tap, which are prevalent throughout the Midwest. It's where you would expect a chatty bartender or owner hanging out behind the bar, talking to customers, a cast of locals, maybe some decent bar food, and an atmosphere of camaraderie. Well, it's not quite there. Beers are available in bottles only, in a place that's begging for a few taps. Domestic, imported or some local craft beers are the choices. I don't really know if the bartender is really a bartender or a food server, so I've not ordered drinks. Staffed usually with two people-one out front and one in the kitchen. They appear to do a lot of breakfast and takeout business. The menu has appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and breakfast items. The skillet ($8.00) I had was pretty tasty, and the other breakfast items which have flown my me look good. Decent portions. I wish I could say the same for the lunch items. Kind of munchkin portions, and usually kind of thrown at you by the server. Prices are not bad, but I would not make this a lunch destination. Even the lunch specials ($6.25) I've had were just not worth it. There are quite a few pizza choices, but I know enough to know, I don't care to drop $20 on it here. So I like the atmosphere and the room. It's one of those places which might cause you to think, "maybe I'll open up a little place like this." Off the beaten Main St. path, you will at least get a little time with the locals. And that's a good thing. Great hours, too.

I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. We'll definitely be back, and a big reason why is Lexi.

We stopped in to make a reservation a few hours before we hoped to eat and lucked out with a table. All of the staff are delightful and friendly. Our waiter, Jason, handled our mumbling high schooler nicely by kindly asking for the selection to be pointed out on the menu so he could make sure to put the correct order in. Warm focaccia and a delicious dipping elixir of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sun-dried tomatoes, and herbs, was served soon after we were seated. The adults enjoyed cocktails (Aperol spritz and Old Fashioned) and the kids had pop. Next was the house salad with a house-made Italian vinaigrette - just one bowl served all four of us. We each loved our meals, which included the Chicken di Parma, Lasagna, Penne with marinara, and Linguini with bolognese sauce. Bring your eating pants because the portions are generous; we were too full to try dessert. There's street parking and lots nearby-if one of your party is handicapped, you may want to drop them off because there are not nearby handicapped spots and street/lot parking may be a bit of a walk.

Family and I decided to check out galena for the first time and decided to check this place out since the galena brewing company was closed. Not sure why because the sign said open and it was 11:15 am. The food here was alright, wings didn't come out with the celery and we felt rushed. We asked for menus and he said we needed to wait till after 11 am! It was 11:15 am lol. Food is nothing to brag about, but it did the job after a 3 hour drive. I should've read the reviews before going into this place. Not a top choice if we go back. Be aware this place only takes cash and checks. No credit card payments. Found that out at the bar when I had to go pay my bill because the waiter didn't mention anything! Lady at the bar said the ATM is at the front. Terrible way to start a Galena visit. Here are some pictures of our food and hopefully this place has better management and nicer staff.

From the get go, the lady taking our order was in a bit of a rush. My family was with me and we had a couple questions regarding the menu. I felt that our server's response was abrupt and felt like she was brushing us off to get to the next customer. The food was meh. I mean it wasn't terrible but it was pretty basic. The hubby got a cheeseburger, my daughter got the grilled cheese meal, and I got the buffalo wings. The menu said that celery and carrot sticks came with my order but I just got the wings. When I was able to finally flag down our server to inquire about my veggie sticks and dressing, she said "oh we're out of those" and was about to walk off until I quickly asked her what about the ranch? She then quickly pointed to the little square ranch container that was in the middle of the table. I mean maybe offer other things to accommodate for what's missing or at least tell me that off the bat would have been nice. We pretty much just ate our food and was ready to go right after. The name Paradise Bar & Grill is an oxymoron as we did not feel like we were in paradise.
