I've now lived in CA for almost 8 years and am soooo sad this chain hasn't moved this far west after all this time! I've found nothing like it out here at all. I'm a HUGE thrifter and NBC definitely isn't near as cheap as thrift stores, BUT thrift stores rarely have clothes with store tags on them whereas most of NBC's stuff does have those tags. My sister and I have called NBC the "no holes, no stains" store for years and years because you really have to be careful here with stuff since a lot of it has one or both of those things wrong haha. I haven't been to this location in 4 years or so until last week. In that amount of time, I'll say their prices have certainly gone up, but what place hasn't raised their prices. At this location, note all the super sales are in the wing off to the right of the front door. On the main floor, the sale stuff will be along the walls mostly. You can spend hours in the super sale wing, but be careful for flaws in that section - check for working zippers, missing buttons, rips, holes, stains, and whack issues with stitching (like an arm being stitched closed lol). They do have a decent amount of kids stuff in the back, but that section is an absolute hot mess, especially looking for littler kid stuff (under 6x) like I was. My biggest splurge and best find ever at this store was during my last visit - a $450 All Saints lamb skin leather jacket in my size with store tags still on it for $65! It was a grey tag marked at $112 and that color was 40% off. I couldn't believe what a find this one was! There was only a slight imperfection on the leather that I could see, a tiny line of discoloration, maybe a like a slight scratch that didn't break the leather, but left a small mark. Literally no one will notice, so totally worth it!

However, I saw one other man, so I went to his location. I am glad I did, because Uptown Cheapskate had an amazing selection of business casual shirts for men. They were all clean, in good to excellent condition, and reasonably priced. For under $60 dollars, I walked out with five polo shirts and one $10 dollar athletic undershirt. UC also had an unexpected variety of men's dress shoes, Doc Martin boots, and Vans shoes. Frequently thrift store shoes are beaten up, scuffed, and missing 1/3 of the sole from use. The UC men's shoes were all in very good to exceptional condition. The ladies working there were nice even when it became busy.

She didn't physically take it from me, she rang it up on her side. That's what I thought anyways. I didn't get the discount & the girl conveniently doesn't remember. They now carry shampoo, makeup, hair color, and other drug store type products in a section near the bathrooms. And I believe you can use the BB&B coupons on those items, but i'm not 100% sure. The store is clean, but always crowded on the weekends. The check out lanes can get a little backed up, but they go decently fast. They even have a wrapping station now for customer use. I think it's a little odd they have you do it yourself (imagine someone who doesn't gift wrap trying to wrap something on a table in front of everyone), but if it's not busy I guess it's ok. I am a seasoned gift wrapper and I felt incredibly rushed when people started lining up behind me. A worker at that station would have been very helpful. Overall, great store and some of the pricier items are easier to handle with those amazing coupons they offer!

Sometimes I need assistance. I asked her if she was a manager and if not, if she could get one for me. She radioed for one. A person named Shawna came up front. I explained the problem I was having and she also told me there's absolutely nothing they can do to help me. I explained to her that I was in earlier and a sales associate instructed me to go home and get a screenshot off the device I was using when my problem started and if I bring it back the store will price match their online price. so I left and drove home and drove back to Kohl's and now being told that there is absolutely nothing they can do. She said I have to have a "sku" in order for her to help me even though I had a screenshot of an item with a full description AND picture from their website at kohls.com. She would not look at it. She just instantly shut me down and said she cannot help me. When I asked her who could... she told me that I can take my little attitude and go out the door and pointed at it. She instigated an argument with me by telling me that she would not be "yelled at or talked to like this"... Keep in mind I was using the exact same tone and the exact same level that she was using. She chose to be extremely flippant and dismissive. when I asked her for a way to file a complaint, she laughed in a condescending way, and then she ripped a piece of paper off of a register and wrote down a phone number. She tossed it on the counter and walked away. I called the number three times each time it told me that it was not a working number. I brought this to her attention and she told me that I needed to "dial it correctly". I told her to dial it. So she spent the next 10 minutes on the phone calling different numbers, looking up different numbers, writing down different numbers, and then comes back to me and says in a condescending tone, "all you had to do was hold and the recording told you the proper number to call as it has changed". I asked for her supervisor's name and she told me he would be in tomorrow and that she couldn't care less if I reported her or not. The female that I approached in the beginning, who started out being kind to me... Quickly turned into Shawnas cheerleader. As I was walking away, I heard her say "WOW" really loud. This store employee AND Shawna the MANAGER refused to assist me. Shawna refused to even look at the screenshot of the item that I had saved so that I could purchase it. Shawna told me there is "no way for her to look for an item in her store without a SKU number". Shawna held up her phone and clicked her fingernail on the screen and said "do you see this little box... It says SKU.... That's what I have to have In order to look up anything.". I've managed retail for years. I know that's a lie. I asked her at one point what it was about me that made her so quick to judge so determined not to assist me. she didn't answer that question. Shawna, I just want you to know... I will be filing a formal complaint. I just wanted to put something down in a review so that anyone that goes into your store will understand... Don't ask Shawna for customer service... She's not having it. I've never had. Someone in a store so many times in such a short amount of time over and over THREATEN ME and POINT at the front door... when I was doing absolutely nothing other than asking for help. How dare a store manager yell in the presence of other customers that I can go out the door point at it and continue to threaten me that I needed to leave when I'm simply asking for help. I asked if they had cameras, but no one responded. I pulled out my phone halfway through and recorded the last half. when I asked Shauna for her manager's name, she told me she couldn't care less if I called them because they won't do anything about it.
