First - I have been stopping by Diggs for MANY YEARS - I live in Goochland but had a 2nd home in Deltaville so passed by Diggs often. In the past several months, on 3 occasions, (the latest yesterday - FRIDAY - 05.15.26) I have stopped by during posted business hours only to find the infamous little hand written sign taped to the inside of the door saying 'Closed Today'. Last month, I DROVE TO WEST POINT ONLY TO GET SOME CRAB MUFFINS - and, of course the business was closed. If the store is actually closed for good - the web site should post that. I'm sure quite a lot of people have driven there and left disappointed. Guess I'll just have to try to remember how good the crab muffins WERE - as obviously they have become extinct. Food is great but communication is grossly lacking. Says they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesdays, ok cool, came 2 Mondays in a row and a little note on the door both times "Closed today". Never answer the phone when it is open. Customers time is just as important as theirs and they could do so much better. read more

I have been going to Diggs since I was a child, back when the location was across the street and down a block from the paper mill. Taking a bite of their deviled crab is like tasting my childhood. I love them so much we drive from Midlothian, south of Richmond to get them. My whole family gets them (minus the one with a shellfish allergy, she just sits there and gazes wistfully bc she used to love them before the allergy started getting super bad). Idk how I've never reviewed Digg's, but after visiting last weekend, I had to show some love. This place has been a childhood staple, and even though I live away, I know I have to plan my travel accordingly to be able to stop here for my 'fix.' That would be some crab muffins and deviled crabs. These things are still divine and always consistently pleasing. The only thing that's changed over the years is being a cash only place. Make a stop ahead for cash, because you don't wanna pass Digg's without a quick stop in. Sometimes there is a short wait due to demand, but it's worth it if you have to wait. A colleague told me that if ever driving through West Point, I *MUST* stop at Diggs Seafood. So on the way back from the river, DH and I decided to check it out. We got a 6-pack of crab cakes to fix at home for dinner that night and a couple of crab muffins to snack on the car for the ride home. DH and I proclaimed those crab muffins to be about the best thing we have ever had! Warm, creamy, and delicious on a crunchy crust. They're so fucking good that you'll gorge yourself and all other crab-based dishes will seem inferior. The deviled crab is good, but not nearly as good as the crab muffin. For foodies, this place sells two things - crab cakes and crab muffins. For all the raving 5-star reviews this place got, I just had to stop and see what it is all about. It was a bit overhyped. The crab cake and muffin were definitely really good and very unique but it was way, way too salty. Which is also why I would recommend the crab muffin over the crab cake as the muffin offsets some of the salty-ness of the crab. read more

I've been stopping here for almost 30 years. The deviled crabs are the best I've ever had. The crab muffins are a toasted English muffin with what is in essence "crab imperial" on top. Some of the best food on earth for less than $4 each. If you're ever lucky enough to enjoy a deviled crab or crab muffin here, count yourself lucky. Yeah, the guy behind the counter sometimes isn't particularly happy, but who cares, the food is wonderful. It's strictly takeout, the county permit doesn't let them allow you to eat in the shop (that would put them in a different category), so the guy will tell you that. Sounds like some people on here got offended when told to eat outside or take it home. So unless we're going to downgrade the Mona Lisa, or some other piece of art because we didn't like the personality of the painter, don't criticize the artisans that create these crab masterpieces. God bless them for sharing their astounding cooking skill with us! They only cook these two items and are masters at it. The crab is top quality and never has shell in it. read more

Heard a lot about their crab muffins so I decided to grab a few as I was passing by. Got crab muffins and deviled crab. The crab muffins were excellent, fresh, and hot. They certainly lived up to the hype. The deviled crab was good but not the best I've ever had. Took one star away because they don't take credit card. Took another away because the guy behind the counter seemed very inconvenienced/irritated by having to serve customers, even more so when I had to go back out to the car to get cash for my order. Definitely go for the food but don't expect friendly service. Again, make sure you have cash. read more

Crab Muffins are absolutely on point. Two of the batch we usually buy never make it to the first bridge back to New Kent. Two more don't make it to the interstate. I buy a few fresh and hot Crab Muffins, and 20 of them frozen to take home for later. Hadn't been here in over 8yrs due to my move to the west coast but diggs used to be a staple for us when we traveled thru this area. I bought 5 crab muffins and they didn't make it across the first bridge. Went there two weeks ago while visiting West Point from Minnesota. I used to buy crab muffins from Diggs when I lived in West Point and I can assure you that the recipe has changed drastically. The muffins I purchased were almost inedible. The seasoning was "off" and tasted like chili powder was used. Also, I don't think there was any real cheese in the muffins. Instead, it was some sort of runny orange stuff that didn't taste like cheese at all. The young man behind the counter was less than civil and acted like I had interrupted his nap. There was a time when Diggs had a wonderful reputation, but those days are gone. I would never go there again, nor would I recommend it. read more

I too love the crab muffins and deviled crab, both are worth the stop. I am from Williamsburg Va. and am not that way often but when I am it is stop I do not miss. The food is wonderful, but man these guys are assholes. I drove over an hour away just to get their food, because I am such a fan. I got stuck in traffic, and I was one minute after closing. Literally one minute. 5:31. After driving an hour. I called beforehand to explain it to them because I knew I'd be late by less than five minutes, and they told me that the couldn't put aside food that was already made and too bad for me. For a customer who bothers to drive an hour away for their food. I was getting it to go, the transaction would have taken them a minute extra of their time at best. So after being a minute late I wasn't allowed to buy the food, which was instead thrown away. Thanks guys. If you can't cater to your most dedicated customers, maybe you should be in a different business. Thanks for the $10 of wasted gas and hour and a half of my time. Have been going by there for at least 15 years even before they moved to the present location. It's like a tradition when going through West Point get the crab muffins and deviled crabs at Diggs. Lot of hype on the muffins and I guess it's a judgment call. Either you like them or you don't. I for one put them in the middle of the road. I personally prefer the Dickies deviled crabs over digs. But I still stop there when passing thru West point. Choice to eat take out are limited at best for that area. read more
