The finished backyard looks excellent and the quality of the construction appears high. Vanessa specifically provided excellent, white-glove service throughout the entirety of the project and was super responsive to all of our communication. We did have a number of issues arise with the crew (mainly excessive dust seeping into our house and trash being left behind on the neighbor's property line), as well as the accounting department (an accidental attempt at overcharging us), but Vanessa always did an excellent job of troubleshooting these issues and helping to guide everybody towards a resolution. She also worked diligently on our backyard design and expertly guided us through several iterations and unexpected construction issues. I highly recommend working with Vanessa and Black Diamond Pavers.

Great design and installation of tasteful spotlights, mushroom lights, and some custom lights in the paver patterns. The Black Diamond team workers were fast, clean, organized, courteous, and their craftsmanship was excellent and the finished front of the house was a very custom and professional job. They were also flexible, which is probably most important. It now has a very modern, Tuscan look. What a transformation from cracked concrete! The neighbor dropped by, was amazed, and said: sign me up too! Definitely would recommend. It turned out better than we had imagined.

This is an update review now that we have used Octavio and Pacific Premier Landscaping once again…read moreto complete our homes landscaping all around! Octavio and Pacific Premiere Landscaping is STILL incredible! Extremely professional, responsive and just an all around really nice guy! We had a very large project that included our Front, Side, and sloping back yard. My wife and I, like a lot of couples I'm certain, have design paralysis with that "I don't know, what do you want?" going back and forth with each other endlessly. Octavio has a great eye, and countless times he broke our deadlock saying, "How about this? I think this would look really nice" and when we followed his suggestions we ended up being incredibly happy with the result! That's a huge benefit that you can't put value on, because it keeps a project moving forward with minimal stress. Whenever we had questions, he always replied to our texts instantly, and one of the things I really appreciated about his company is that we never had to line up any of our own specialty contractors (electrical, plumbing etc) to do work. He has every discipline covered and coordinates the scheduling of all of that. I've worked with contractors before where they would inform you they didn't do a type of work and we would have to contract that effort separately. Octavio is not like that and he'll coordinate it all according to how you'd like it to look, or be done. Big thumbs up on that! Payment schedules are very clearly explained and documented. Our project included payments in "phases of work" down payment, forms completed, rebar completed, Completed concrete, electrical and irrigation/plants completed, final approval completed etc. and there was flexibility in the schedule if we wished, which made it much easier at one point while we were travelling. He's very open to discussing whatever makes things go smoothly. We loved how he gave us a lot of help particularly with trees/plants (types, locations) Octavio is very knowledgeable in that area and we were very pleased when he met us at the nursery multiple times to show and help us select plants and trees. His work crews were always very friendly, hard working and meticulous, and he checked in on them constantly to make sure everything was going according to plan. It's very obvious that he wants to make sure there are no surprises, and that work is progressing according to schedule and plans. It was a great pleasure having Octavio and Pacific Premiere Landscaping transform our home! We would use him again without question and in fact have several other projects in the immediate future that we're in the process of discussing. A lot of people will search hard for the lowest price (I would estimate that Octavio's prices are not the "cheapest", but they are much more than fair, and I would argue that there is a HUGE difference between "lowest price" and "value"; that being the quality and experience of the work done for the money spent, and with that in mind, Pacific Premiere is a tremendous value! You get a ton for your Money!

I was confused because it's preexisting and I don't want to change it. He then told me that this was required by the city and I would need a permit! I was astounded because that's a lie! It's not my first deck project so I knew repairs and maintenance do not require a permit. I also received several other quotes from licensed and bonded contractors and no one thought I needed a permit.

Jeff has an incredible eye for design and offered brilliant ideas for the layout, boulders, and decorative accents. I don't want to leave negative reviews because I understand everyone is working hard to make a…read moreliving, but this was the first time I had to stop a contractor after 1.5 days because I was stressed and concerned about the way the work was progressing. I wanted my backyard demoed to install draining and concrete to make it low maintenance and fix draining issues during heavy rains. I felt the materials purchased didn't look right and were also different from what other contractor bids mentioned the material they would use. I even consulted AI and other forums online to make sure my intuition wasn't off. Either way, I don't think these materials purchased were the issue because if I am working with a good contractor, they would be able to either adjust to my request in a respectful manner or explain their approach rather than gaslighting me. First, Tran purchased triple wall HDPE pipes for a very long run for the draining (20+ feet). I assumed we'd be using PVC pipes and that was also the recommendation from most as PVC is more durable and less prone to bellying during the installation process. If issues arise, it's also a better material to snake through rather than triple wall HDPE as it is smoother and more durable. When I asked if the triple wall HDPE pipe could be returned and to use PCV instead, Tran responded as if I were crazy and mentioned the PVC pipe is not for outdoor use. I was taken aback and wasn't sure how to respond to this, I've only seen copper or plastic piping used for my indoor plumbing and there was PVC piping used outside we can see right in front of us as we were talking. Second, it's best not to use 90 degree elbow for my situation, and it's better to use 45 degree elbow to avoid clogging. If you've gone through elementary school, then clearly you can tell the elbow purchased is 90 degrees. I asked Tran if he could use 45, and he responded "These are all 45, you can take this to home depot and check." The elbow clearly looked 90 degrees, so I had to go out to home depot myself, take a picture of the clear difference between the 90 degree elbow he had purchased vs the obvious 45 degree elbow at the store, then he responded, "Ok, let me get the new elbow." This is the second instance of gaslighting that made me feel confused and concerned to trust this contractor to continue work. Third, because the draining was going to be installed underneath concrete, this means it will be challenging to unclog or check for issues if something went wrong in the future. I asked about this and wanted to communicate my desire to install some sort of drain cleanout, but I was cut off and Tran simply stated "I've done this so many times" and never answered my question properly. I felt taken advantage of and disrespected with the gaslighting while working with this contractor. I am spending a lot of money and this is a huge job that needs to be done correctly, as trying to fix plumbing underneath concrete isn't the same as fixing plumbing underneath an indoor sink. The fact that an elbow could not even be purchased properly was the last straw and I did not feel comfortable moving forward. I give 2 stars for showing up each day and working hard to demo the backyard as there was a lot of weeded grass and plants that needed to be removed.

But for the past two-and-half years, we have been paying for basically leaf blowing--leaves blown into a corner, which blows right back again. The oak leaves collect in planted areas and their toxicity kills the plants. They told us this when we had to replace dead bushes a fourth time -- only then did they say this. The site manager rarely comes and the leaf blowers aren't trained to check the plants or irrigation system. One time, the irrigation had been broken for four months. A quarter of our plants died. Another time, the sprinkler heads were clogged and another large area of the garden died and no one seemed to notice. We have always had to point this out. They promised to replace the plants but it's never been "the right season to do it"--for two years, it has never been "the right season." We repeatedly asked them to trim the giant rosebush and each time, we were told it was not the right time--until it collapsed and nearly tore off our terrace. They did take it upon themselves to trim the hedge of ivy we'd been growing for five years to conceal the house next door. It nearly covered the fence. Then they trimmed it back to the wire--so that we have a direct view of the house next door. They told us, "it will grow back." The vines on another fence were finally starting to grow and bloom, providing us with some coverage, but the leaf blowers started to cut that back to the wire before we told them to stop before they ruined all of them. They once hacked all the plants on the patio to stubs. Rows of small bushes have died and no one seems to notice. Infestations go unnoticed; lemon tree leaves have turned yellow from lack of fertilizer and we have had to point this out. Last straw: a leak in the irrigation system and a $3000 water bill. I told a friend about my dissatisfaction and she said she was not surprised. She fired them a few years ago because she got basically the same attention and they also installed the wrong plants. She said another person she know also had bad experiences with inexperienced crews who basically did leaf blowing and bad pruning. Some crews may be good, but if you see neglect or incompetence, switch to a landscape service that will at least make sure the plants are watered and don't die. Wish I had not give them second and third chances. It will cost us thousands to fix our garden.
