All others may proceed…read more When I was a kid, one of my strongest memories was getting my first discman for Christmas and my first few CDs that I called my own. I wanted to give my cousin the same memory, and since vinyl is the the thing these days I got her her own record player. I wanted to get a few albums to go with it so I grilled her on her faves artists then put together a list of some artists she may like based on her interests. Then I took that list and I went to Underground Sound's website to see what was in stock. I landed on two records I think she's going to really like (Tegan and Sara, "The Con" and the first Gorillaz record) and was able to purchase them online for instore pick up. While I love browsing through the stacks, the busy holiday time doesn't leave much time for digging so buying online for pick up was super convenient. And it was great to support a local record shop to boot! Physical media 4ever!!!

We were not surprised to run across this kind of bookstore in a major college town like the University of Michigan. The store is located on a corner in a busy area of Ann Arbor, and covers two stories ... a first floor and a basement ... both well stocked. The staff was very helpful, especially with their "staff picks." We'll visit again ...

I love to purchase the shelves and find something new, although I found the layout slightly confusing, and I found various books and multiple locations. The little tags that talk about unique aspects of the book are a really nice touch. I did find it to be slightly biased politically, but I'm not sure what you can expect in downtown Ann Arbor. They did have a beautiful special version of a book that my best friend from Australia loves, so I was able to pick up that copy. I can't wait to send it to her. When I told her about it, she cried. The book is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much Literati for stocking such lovely products! Sidenote - this bookstore used to have delicious oat milk, lattes and unfortunately, they do not the café upstairs anymore. I do like that they got rid of all the tables where people would sit for hours on their computer computers. Now there is more room for books and I enjoy their selection of YA, cookbooks, and other genres. This is the same bookstore. We brought our Canadian friends too to browse, and it was very fun also. Upstairs I think they have tarot readings or something along those lines, I've only been up there to use the restroom. They also have a small discount section, oh and a little bit of jewelry! At least some of it is handmade locally. I find the staff to be very kind too. Give it a try!

The uniqueness of this bookshop is in its eclectic array of items beyond the books. There is a little of everything from records, comics, graphic novels, and other unique and interesting items. Nothing seems to be high-end collectibles, just fun, interesting stuff nerds like me like to see when they go shopping. I thought the staff was friendly, and overall, a unique experience. I will be back. Not a place for people looking to acquire ephemera, vintage, antiquarian, or collectible first editions. Heads up, the parking out front, I thought, was quite treacherous. The whole little place is a hoot, actually. You will be looking at some super-vintage, delicate stuff while hearing bowling balls whack into pins just through the wall on the other side in the bowling alley. The ambiance alone is worth checking out, if you have a sense of humor. It's just so quaintly weird! And amazing finds here and there. One booth has this odd mixture of 80's cd's, vintage leather purses, and mid-century modern knick-knacks, and great jewelry spanning all eras, crazy cheap. Another has a bunch of coca-cola antiques. Some booths are set up like museum spaces, some like garage sales. I just find it fascinating in a hilarious way. And usually walk out of there with a great deal. The prices seem very reasonable. A high-quality vinyl LP costs about $20, depending on the rarity. What also struck me was how clean everything is. I've seen so much thrift store stuff that needs a good cleaning. I accept that, but this is a nice surprise. I will probably start making excuses to visit my brother, just so I can stop by the shop.
