Found a pubic hair in my rice coming here once. I haven't gone back, and I don't think I will. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Redmond. We stopped to stay in Redmond for the night on our way to Montana. Yelp recommended Diego's, so we went. Busy Friday night, 8pm, the place is packed. We are led in quickly by the waitress where we were left to stand inside for about 10 mins with no further contact. The food people were eating looked really good and it was really busy but the service was poo. I thought that maybe we had died when we walked through the door and then became ghosts and thus invisible because no staff who walked past even so much as acknowledged us despite my attempts to nod and smile. This is a great establishment with a wide selection on the menu. It has great options for kids and adults. Diegos is great for business lunches, as the price point is right the restaurant noise level is always appropriate. I have been a customer since its inception and have never been disappointed. Service: polite, engaged, and they want you to feel welcome. Speed: from order to food delivery, the time seems to be 5-7mins. I've never timed it, but it's quick. Presentation: the food on the plates are organized and very appealing. It doesn't matter what menu item you choose, the appearance is great. Taste/temperature: the food is always fresh which means it's hot! If unbearably so, the wait staff will advise you of such. The flavors are perfect to my taste. The meats are well marinated, the beans and rice are flavorful. The vegetables are always fresh, eye appealing, and full of flavor. Cleanliness: tables, floors and restrooms are always clean. We were staying at an Air Bnbb, Coyote Ranch, a few weeks ago and the owner recommended Diego's. Since we typically try to eat vegetarian, Mexican food is usually hit or miss. But this place. .... they have the flavors dialed in. This is not a taco and burrito joint. I would put this restaurant up against any restaurant in Portland. Be prepared, you may have to hang out or stand in the bar until a table clears. Oh darn, I had to have a drink before dinner. :-) I would give this place six stars. read more

My husband, daughter and I ate here last night and raved about it! My husband is a picky eater and he couldn't stop complimenting the staff. He had the smoked chicken pasta and I had to stop him from licking the plate! I ordered the Enchiladas de Jaiba, which were amazing. The service was impeccable, as well. This place should get 10 stars! We've been here 3 times and everything was wonderful: service,food and drinks. The first time I had the brisket and my husband had the seafood relleno. Both melt in your mouth wonderful- every bite delectable the chips and salsa were warm and crispy. The jalapeño margaritas are the best I've had anywhere- made with fresh jalapeños. I was asked by 3 different waiters if it was too spicy and I like heat so it was perfect. My husband told one server his was different because he didn't want it blended- but it was good and the guy brought us some special roasted jalapeños and this wonderful creamy hot sauce from the kitchen. We've had different kinds of enchiladas and regular chili rellenos- all fantastic! And even though the place is always packed the service is always attentive and helpful. We have eaten here for years, and were disappointed. Diego's used to be our favorite. They have raised their prices recently and seems overpriced to me. Many mixed drinks are $12 and house wine is $10. The Mexican Combo plate used to be $10and is now $15 for two tacos beans and rice. I understand prices need to rise, but by 50%? We enjoy mexican food and usually try to find new Mexican restaurants. We have not encountered many excellent Mexican restaurants. However, this is one of them. We ate there twice this trip and both visits were the same. The the service is excellent. The margaritas are not made with syrup but with lime and orange liquor and they are wonderful. We have had four entrees and each was fabulous. They do not take reservations so be prepared to wait on a weekend but the wait will be worth it! read more

We went here on Friday evening for dinner. The service was excellent, very fast and attentive. The food was very good, but not the best in the area for Mexican. The prices are reasonable and while we were generally happy with our meal and our experience, the place has a few drawbacks. The bar is, fortunately, situated right inside the front door. The restaurant is long and somewhat narrow. I estimated it to be around 80 feet long and 15 - 20 feet wide. This means that the seating is mostly a row of tables along one wall with all the foot traffic going by all the tables. We were able to get seated all the way in the back in the corner, and thus did not have to have everyone, guests and staff, walking by our table the entire time. The other drawback to Diego's is that, due to the configuration of the room, sound travels and is amplified, having no way to diffuse. This meant, as we both noticed, that it was very noisy. We could easily hear everything being said at tables 25 feet away. Part of the reason for the heavy traffic though the narrow restaurant is that there is a patio in the back which looked very nice but getting there meant walking all the way through the restaurant for both guests and staff. I am thinking that dining on the outside back patio would probably be a much different experience than dining inside and probably much more pleasant than inside with all the noise and commotion. Perhaps one day we will give it a try. The menu is quite varied with many good choices and so I would recommend Diego's as an alternative to other Mexican dining experiences in Redmond. Two friends and I had dinner here, to celebrate a family matter. One of us had a strawberry daquiri - very good - and I had their fresh margarita - excellent. Their chips are fresh and delicious, and their salsa is both flavorful and has an appropriate bite. I had their pollo con chipotle, and was blown away. It was very, very good. Whenever we entertain out of town friends Diego's is always our first choice . Consistent quality and tasty food is the norm. I like the Camarones con Arroz and my wife is partial to their Carnitas Ravioli this last trip was on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed , our reservations got us seated immediately and we all dug into the chips and salsa .... started with an app of Shrimp Cerviche , three large scoops of shrimp and veggies each on its own crispt tortilla ,excellent. I ordered the Osso Buco and it's my new favorite dish my wife had a barbecued brisket that she loved. So with the big Tues. Food isn't your traditional Mexican cuisine which I like but if you want globs of cheese and traditional american Mexican food go elsewhere, if you want fresh authentic tasting Mexican go here.
