Very few practices I found were taking NHS patients at the moment, and one of the only ones was here at Bupa - They managed to offer me an appointment within a few days, which impressed me as I had to wait weeks, even over a month at Ocean Dental, where I went previously on the second floor of Boots nearby.
I found Bupa quite hard to find, it is up a staircase basically next to Mcdonald's, there is an "access" route, but this really isn't something that would be accessible, if you're trying to avoid steps, this route still has stairs but not as many, but the steps in this route are much bigger, and would often require a ramp for wheelchairs and buggies etc, the lift is also an issue, it is tiny to the point once again a wheelchair or buggy would be unable to fit, without potential damage or struggle, even one person fitting it would be difficult, and then this route is of course isolated and you're forced to be guided in and out by a staff member, which at busy times when you're in a rush, wanting to get in and out, it can be really difficult.
When I got there, after some struggle getting in, despite them being aware I was ready, I was told they'd put my appointment back by around 40 minutes, and they simply expected me to wait without even informing me - I previously thought the staff were nice, kind and friendly until they made such a drastic change without informing me, which frankly was dreadful customer service, and as a busy man, I couldn't wait that long - I agreed an appointment time on principle, and to not even be informed about them changing my appointment time, obviously not being consented either, I found that to be atrocious.
Due to the changing of appointment times without content, and the overall poor feeling of the dental practise its-self, with it being old and uninspiring, and the access issues - Bupa Dental at St Ann's in Manchester is potentially one of the worst dental surgeries I have visited, the whole experience from the time I arrived, juxtaposed the pre-visit experience such as the phone staff, and getting a quick appointment and it is sad that I had such a bad experience from the moment I step foot outside the surgery, so sadly I feel Bupa deserves a single one-star rating.
