My toddler had an unfortunate accident and needed an emergency dental appointment and the NHS Direct service managed to get us an appointment here. The surgery is easily accessible by car and buses stop literally right outside it. Inside it's clean, bright and tidy with a pleasant and welcoming receptionist. The dentists are extremely pleasant and set both adult and children at ease being gentle and attentive and most importantly friendly and thorough. Despite being 'full' they very kindly accepted myself and both my children on their books going out of their way to help us. All in all a fantastic dental practise.

It has recently extended its list of NHS patients and is this current climate is one of the rare few that has done so. All of my family have recieved their dental health care from here, and over the years we have had numerous treatments, all excellent. All 9 surgeries are computerised, equipped to the highest possible standard and fully air-conditioned. Treatment is offered to NHS, Private, Practice Plan, Denplan and Bupa patients. A full range of dental care is available. We can reccomend it because of the excellent orthodontic care my children have recieved, and in all honesty find that the staff are so friendly and courteous that they put us all at ease.

But, I find, as doctor's practices go, this medical centre in Withington is really quite pleasant. It's not a nightmare to get an appointment, doctors are friendly, the clinic is really modern , and there's a handy pharmacy attached so you don't have to go on a treasure hunt through town to pick up your prescription. Well worth signing up to if you're new to the area, or unhappy with your current practice.

That said, it's primary concern is looking after patients in the area. There are two waiting rooms downstairs and one on the first floor where you will find the surgery nurses. It's usually fairly busy and at this time of year you're looking at a two day wait for an appointment (here come the winter ailments). The telephone number places you in a queue, but not a 'telephone' queue as you will find with the large utilities companies: you can expect no more than a 5 minute wait if it's really busy (usually at 8:30am). There is a pharmacy built within the centre so you don't have to trek into the main village for your treatments and medicines.

Nothing is too much trouble and they are always happy to answer questions and offer advice on any aspect of dental hygiene. They also promote a very relaxed atmosphere especially in the practice room which gives the patient genuine confidence in the dentist. The practice is very busy which shows a high level of confidence in those who work there to do an excellent job and that patients can have trust in the treatment and advice they will receive. I've been with this dentist for almost 10 years now and can only speak very highly of him. His…read morebedside manner is excellent and he quickly puts you at ease; and he makes the effort to get to know you, remembering details about your family, job etc. He's been particularly tolerant of our two kids (now aged 3 and 5) who have sometimes had to accompany us on various visits. The surgery itself is a good one (although the parking isn't always straightforward) -- there's always plenty of reading in the waiting area and some toys for the kids too. It's a slight pity that he's not an NHS dentist, but then that's the way of dentistry these days All in all, a decent dentist.
