This use to be a good discount store to go. Over the last year all the prices are now the same as the Dicks store and selection sucks.

But, everything is super expensive, because it is all the highest quality of outdoor gear. This is also a cooperative business, so you join for a one time fee, and once a year, you receive a profit, based on your yearly purchase. Love REI!

Still five stars. We came in looking for a number of things. Kind of a scouting mission. REI has…read moreplenty to offer for hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, and more. We are looking for, among other things, a smaller tent (ours is huge) that we can easily lug around with us and REI has a large selection. We signed up for their membership several years ago. Just tell them your phone number when making a purchase and you get credit for the purchase. We picked up a UV protective t-shirt as a gift for someone. It was reasonably priced imho, very soft and moisture wicking. Brilliant. I should probably get myself one too. BTW, the company no longer offers bags. None. So bring a reusable bag if you plan to shop here. It's just another way to reduce waste and be a good steward. Some of the prices can be high, but not everything. They sell Patagonia which is an expensive brand, as well as other, more moderately priced items. You just have to know what you want and what you are willing to pay. If you check out the bulletin board upstairs, they offer guided excursions that look really fun. I check out their selection of hiking poles as I am looking to buy some. Everything from really reasonable basic models to foldable, light weight pricey models. So you have options. They have pet items. Personal care items. Clothes and shoes are upstairs. So many types of water bottles. Camping items for both the thru-hiker and the car-camper. Check them out. They are a good resource and the staff are friendly and happy to assist.

Ace Archers - Nice place to learn the ancient art of archery

Then, I couldn't find my way around and a woman with glasses ran out of the back room asking me in a paranoid voice CAN I HELP YOU WITH SOMETHING?!?!?! looking me up and down like I was going to rob the place. Super uncomfortable experience. I hope they don't treat everyone like that.

I got interested in archery kind of by accident. When I was in middle school, we had a…read moreShakespearean festival, which included archery among other things. The bows they had were these cheap compounds (with the wheels) intended for children... which in fairness, we were. Well that, and one step up is five times the cost. At some point many years after, I found this place. I was excited to try my hands at archery once again. Even though this place is a little out of the way, I still venture out here when I want to have a go of being a sort of Robin Hood, only one who is not nearly as good of a shot. I. Cost - Their rates are extremely reasonable for what you get. Shooting on the range is $12/hour if you bring your own equipment, and only $14 to borrow theirs. This cost includes instruction too! This is not a private lesson, but they will help you along the way with stance, aim, draw, and other such basics. II. Staff - their staff are some of the nicest, most patient people I have met! Whether they are telling you the 1st time or 101st time to bring your hand to your ear, they are just as patient and calm. Also, during my time shooting, adjusting the draw weight (on the compound) as well as the sight to my ideal levels was a non issue. III. Range - The range is pretty nice! It is well lit, fairly spacious, and they have targets at two different distances, although, I couldn't tell you what they are. I can however tell that the shorter distance is great for beginners... not so far that it becomes discouraging, but close enough that it is fairly challenging. When you are shooting, do be careful of obstacles like pipes or columns... but if you stay in your lane, you should be fine. IV. Equipment - Out of the bows you are able to rent there are recurves (think Robin Hood) and Compound bows (with wheels). I am fond of the latter, but must say the Genesis bow (make of compound) is not my favorite thing in the world. The reason for this is (don't quote me on this) compounds have a let off in weight when fully drawn. The Genesis bows do not (at least not a very significant one). I will not penalize this place for that because these are fairly cheap (~$100), durable, easily adjustable, and according to online markets a great entry level bow for people of all ages. When it comes to equipment, think of it in parallel with bowling . If you are just there to bowl for a bit of fun, you have entry level equipment (balls, shoes) that are durable, and good for those who don't take the sport too seriously. Same thing here, the bows and arm-guards aren't spectacular, and there is no mechanical release provided. If you come to shoot for an hour for fun, you probably don't care that much. As for me, I'd like to keep it casual for now... but even if I end up taking archery more seriously, I will not hesitate at returning to this place to practice!

This is an incredible store to visit if you're looking for outdoor needs! If you're going camping any time soon, skiing/snowboarding, water activities, running, hiking, biking... or even just looking for athletic wear & outdoor gear, this is the spot to hit up! I was surprised to see that they offer Vuori clothing here. I thought that Vuori only sold at their own stores, so it was a pleasant surprise to see on their second floor! I was very intrigued by their electric bikes that were on display on the first floor, by their shoe selection. Cannot lie, was very tempted to get one just because they looked cool! Of course, have to do some research first haha. The vibe was very similar to an LL Bean store, I loved it! Looks like they have some decent sales in store, 20% off one full priced item & had many 30% discounted items.
