Came in here to buy some arrows, the guy acted like we were asking for the combination to the safe that holds the Declaration of Independence. Then, I couldn't find my way around and a woman with glasses ran out of the back room asking me in a paranoid voice CAN I HELP YOU WITH SOMETHING?!?!?! looking me up and down like I was going to rob the place. I got interested in archery kind of by accident. When I was in middle school, we had a Shakespearean festival, which included archery among other things. The bows they had were these cheap compounds (with the wheels) intended for children... which in fairness, we were. Well that, and one step up is five times the cost. At some point many years after, I found this place. I was excited to try my hands at archery once again. Even though this place is a little out of the way, I still venture out here when I want to have a go of being a sort of Robin Hood, only one who is not nearly as good of a shot. I. Cost - Their rates are extremely reasonable for what you get. Shooting on the range is $12/hour if you bring your own equipment, and only $14 to borrow theirs. This cost includes instruction too! This is not a private lesson, but they will help you along the way with stance, aim, draw, and other such basics. II. Staff - their staff are some of the nicest, most patient people I have met! Whether they are telling you the 1st time or 101st time to bring your hand to your ear, they are just as patient and calm. Also, during my time shooting, adjusting the draw weight (on the compound) as well as the sight to my ideal levels was a non issue. III. Range - The range is pretty nice! It is well lit, fairly spacious, and they have targets at two different distances, although, I couldn't tell you what they are. I can however tell that the shorter distance is great for beginners... not so far that it becomes discouraging, but close enough that it is fairly challenging. When you are shooting, do be careful of obstacles like pipes or columns... but if you stay in your lane, you should be fine. IV. Equipment - Out of the bows you are able to rent there are recurves (think Robin Hood) and Compound bows (with wheels). I am fond of the latter, but must say the Genesis bow (make of compound) is not my favorite thing in the world. The reason for this is (don't quote me on this) compounds have a let off in weight when fully drawn. The Genesis bows do not (at least not a very significant one). I will not penalize this place for that because these are fairly cheap (~$100), durable, easily adjustable, and according to online markets a great entry level bow for people of all ages. When it comes to equipment, think of it in parallel with bowling . If you are just there to bowl for a bit of fun, you have entry level equipment (balls, shoes) that are durable, and good for those who don't take the sport too seriously. Same thing here, the bows and arm-guards aren't spectacular, and there is no mechanical release provided. If you come to shoot for an hour for fun, you probably don't care that much. As for me, I'd like to keep it casual for now... but even if I end up taking archery more seriously, I will not hesitate at returning to this place to practice! read more

I have been shooting at Ace Archers for three years (almost) now. It recently changed ownership, but the range is as great as before. The staff is helpful and friendly and many of the archers are also instructors, so lots of good advice when you are trying to hone your skills. The range helped me transition from a pure traditional barebow to a recurve barebow for competition (still barebow, but at a higher lever of accuracy). Tom Harrington (Former owner and level 5 coach) is still there for coaching. Tom is great. Ethen and John (current owners/staff) are friendly, accommodating and good at tuning and building your bow for you and your style (I shoot barebow exclusively, and they have been helpful as I try to get to the next level). Aryls is good for beginners, helping them understand the shooting line and how it works and helping new archers not only to shoot better, but to have a good time shooting regardless of experience. No matter your level, they are a great place to shoot. They have a variety of bows, arrows, quivers and other accessories for barebow, Olympic recurve or compound If you enjoy shooting arrows, this is a great place to do it. They also have teams you can join to compete in USA Archery events, as well as running leagues and tournaments locally. I highly recommend Ace Archers in Foxboro. You get an archery lesson and staff was patient and informative & made the afternoon fun. It was pretty fun & enjoyable. I want to go back for more. First things first - my GPS told me I had arrived, yet I was still on a residential street. Umm. no. Turns out it was a little ahead of itself. When you head over to Ace Archers from Route 95, keep heading down Morse St until you pass a lake. Ace is in a red brick building right after. Parking is no issue, because they have a shared lot with the other businesses in the building. Their location, however, on the 3rd floor might be, if you have trouble with stairs - I didn't notice any elevator, but then I wasn't looking for one either. Doesn't matter if you are left handed or right, what matters is which is your dominate eye - mine's the right. Then they measure you for your arrows (purple with 2 white and 2 black for me!) and bow (H). They had maybe 16 lanes, and a nice windowed hallway set up with a counter and chairs for those who just wanna watch. You also head down this hall to get to their nice single person bathrooms by the end. We were here for a birthday party and ended up paying $15 apiece. I enjoyed myself thoroughly, although I also came back with a few bruises on my left arm. If it hurts, tell them, and they'll give you another type of arm guard. Archery isn't supposed to hurt. Bows and arrows Ace Archers is an indoor archery range and store. You can bring your own equipment here to shoot or if you are new to flinging arrows or don't happen to have your own stuff they will let you use their bows and arrows. The prices are very reasonable, the last I looked it was twelve bucks an hour if you bring your own equipment and fourteen if you use theirs. They also have personalized instruction for beginnings or people that want to improve their shooting. Archery is one of those very simple things that is very hard if you don't do it correctly The people working here definitely know what they are doing, are patient, and obviously love archery. They will talk forever about the history, techniques and equipment if you give them a chance. Besides being a shooting range, Ace also sells archery equipment and has both simple recurves and the more modern compound bows. I'm sure they can get you a long bow if you really want to go retro. Beside the bows they also sell a huge selection of arrows and accessories. The one negative with the range is that it is fairly small and occasionally it gets a bit crowded. But that's fine because sometimes you can learn a whole lot by just watching. read more

This was an interesting but fun experience. The employee who showed me how to use a bow went from being so nervous he stuttered to making terrible jokes but he was also very friendly and helpful. It was super cheap for such a unique experience and I would definitely recommend it! However I have a couple helpful hints to make your experience go better than mine. 1- wear a long sleeve shirt. They will provide an arm guard but it doesn't cover much and it hurts (ALOT) if the string accidentally hits the arm holding the bow when you release. I now have several new bruises and welts to prove my point. 2- business comes in waves - some days they are booked and you won't be able to just walk in but sometimes it's a ghost town. Be safe and call ahead a couple hours I advance. 3- be ready to be a little sore. Until you build up calluses the string will abrade your fingers. It's not too bad so just embrace the experience. read more

I will hunt my dinner for the rest of my life. I went here with a large group of friends and it was amazing. If you own your own equipment, they have a great $10/hour rate. If you don't, it's just $12/hour. They have classes for people age 8 and up. A Class Card is $90 and is good for 6 classes. The beginner classes are on: Friday: 7 - 9p Saturday: 9 - 11a Sunday: 11a - 1p The Tournament Class is: Saturday: 1:30 - 3:30p The staff is very nice [family owned and operated, I believe], but beware - they have this coffee/cocoa machine that WILL confuse the living crap out of you. No, seriously. I was like a senior citizen trying to get cocoa, muttering about 'those damned contraptions' and the 'crazy kids with their doodads'. But go anyway, it's a bit boondocky [and seemingly impossible to get to if you don't own a car], but worth it. read more

I've been into the shop a couple of times now, so i thought I'd share my great experiences. The first time I went in was with my husband to look at bows. Jameson clearly explained the differences between the makes of different brands of recurves, including the materials and the benefits of different arrow rests. We each decided on a particular riser that we liked, but Jameson insisted that we wouldn't really know whether we liked them until we shot with them. He took the time to measure us and get us set up with quivers, arrows, properly weighted limbs, etc. so we could each shoot a few arrows down range. We opted to wait a few weeks before buying our bows, so Jameson wrote down the specifications of of both of them for us. Overall, he was super helpful and the environment was great. Fast forward a couple of weeks to when I went in to buy my bow. Jameson only works on the weekends, but Tom (who I believe is the owner) was available to help me. I gave him the piece of paper that Jameson had written on and he walked me through the purchase of my first bow. He was incredibly patient in explaining everything (even doing show and tell when necessary) and he answered my questions with insightful, honest opinions. At no point did I ever feel that I was being pushed to buy something I didn't need. Tom seems genuinely interested in the education and success of his customers in archery. If you are interested in target archery, I would highly recommend Ace. All of the staff members (even those that didn't help me directly) have been so friendly and welcoming. I live 35 miles north of the shop (which, as you know, could mean a drive of over an hour), but I consider the commute absolutely worth it. Took my 9y/o son here and he loved it. You can bring your own gear or they will size you up with some. They have different targets to shoot at. Some close and some far. Great idea for archery but poor execution. A series of unfortunate events occurred. Group of 6 for a 2PM reservation on Super Bowl Sunday with a Groupon for 1 hr. The building had lost power or something in the morning, had no heating, and delayed opening by a few hours. The place was busy so we had staggered turns. Before I get into that though. A group had just gotten settled before us and a lady part of the group was confirming at the register, that the Groupon they bought was all set for the hour, so we heard it all. After my group handed over our Groupon and confirmed our reservation, it wasn't until 2:20PM they started a safety briefing. There were two young men in charge of the briefing and equipping customers. A tall skinny one who I will call TS and a short plump one who I will call SP. TS was already briefing a group of 6 people while SP was briefing 3 people. So TS told SP to brief us after he was done, makes sense since 3 people would be faster to brief and equip than 6. So the 3 people are all settled and already are in line ready to take their turn to shoot. That's when SP starts to brief us and equip us, a group of 6. Many of us had never done archery before, which we made sure to state, and the two that had, had only done once. With that, some of us were given the incorrect bow and SP did not correct how some people had their sleeves on wrong. 15 minutes later we are briefed and ready but had to wait until the group shooting was done. At 3:10pm my group was told by SP that our session was done while everyone else who had started way before us could keep going... He said the briefing was part of the hour and we were over. I understand that but we should have had until 3:20 when we started. So TS intervened and said we could go one more time. They did not enforce the one person at a time retrieval of arrows process. While my group was retrieving people would just walk up and start yanking them out because they believed they had the right to go first. So by the time our "last turn" was over, everyone else who had started before us, had gone at least twice before us and then once after us. Arbitrary decision of how long you stay, careless setup, lack of foresight to ensure customers are correctly equipped, and I dunno if it was just coincidence or not, but we were the only minority group there so I guess it was intimidating. There was plenty of parking, clean premise, just don't get the short and plump one as your coach. read more

The staff is patient and knowledgeable. You have all the equipment you could possibly need for any size. I think the prices are pretty reasonable. Maybe if they could get more business they could get an outdoor range as well. The lesson was thorough and you're taught how to handle and shoot properly. been here couple of times. first with a Groupon, and then hosted a "group event" for hub's bday. had a great time both times. staff is professional and knowledgeable, always there to give commands to shoot and retrieve, and correcting posture as needed. owners are polite but not over-bearing; i emailed about the said group event and was met with timely response and good amount of flexibility about the arrangements. plenty of parking in the lot; place is not difficult to find (with a GPS), if a little tucked in. they host various events on different days, so make sure you check their website for the event calendar! bonus: after i left one time, my friend had a run-in w/a Patriot as his son came for practice (don't ask me who LOL); very down-to-earth guy i heard. try your luck some time! read more

I've always wanted to try my hand at a bow and arrow and with the help of Ace Archers, I found my calling. Give me two hours and I can hit any nonmoving object less than a few feet away. I had an absolutely fabulous time here. The guys Brad and Jameson were super helpful and made it a fun/funny experience. We got the group rate and it was around $12 for the lesson and plenty of archery time. The staff were very attentive and helped each of us individually. Tried this place for the first time on a Groupon the other day. Brought 3 of my friends who had been once or twice before. I was the only newbie. We all received the same attention and same instructions. I didn't feel like an outsider. Make sure you stay aware and you'll have no problems. We caught on pretty quickly and started hitting the target right off the bat!! Our instructor Steve was awesome, easy going and made us laugh. A great help to keep us relaxed but still learning. Another coach who was helping out on the line that kept us in good spirits and made the experience fun was Jaques. I recommend them both if its your first time. There is a huge parking lot, one person restrooms, lots of supplies for sale. Prices are great and I will be back!! read more

I came here with 8 other friends with a prepurchased voucher for a lesson of archery and some shooting time. Our instructor was very friendly and helpful with teaching safety and such. Every one was instructed to do the same things at the same time. We had to wait for everyone to finish each point before moving forward to the next. Because the facility isn't very big, there isn't enough room to do separately from others so you didn't need to wait for everyone to finish - this gives players less time to shoot basically. There was supposed to be space for 12 people total. We were 30 minutes early and asked the clerk if there was space where we can buy one more since we had an extr person with us. He told us no, that there wasn't. Turns out, later, there were others who came in at the same time as us and even later, during our session and interrupting us. So yea, there were space, or perhaps it was overbooked and they couldn't tell them no so now we were squished together more. Not the instructors fault. If people make their sessions in groups of whatever that amount is, they should really give those folks privacy of that and not have to wait for the other 8 to finish before they can go again. Within an hour, there isn't a lot of time to shoot and practice and this defeats it. On a positive note, parking was easy since it's a big lot. the bathroom and facility were clean and organized. Very cool place. Loads of parking. You do have to climb 2 flights to get up there, though. They were very flexible with us. We got to try out a few different bows and such to figure out what worked best for us. We were beginners so we needed a few pointers, but they did not talk down to us as though we were children or idiots. I was a bit apprehensive that there would be some weird elitist archery-expert types, but everyone was very down to earth. I felt extremely comfortable. Seth helped us out, and he was great. Went with my dad, who has Parkinson's, and the instructors made it a wonderful day for us. They are very thorough and hands-on, and their guidance is helpful. I've done archery elsewhere before and usually the whole day consists of looking for arrows in the woods, but the teacher helped us stay on the target, and we even both got a few bulls-eyes. Also, it's indoors-- a great rainy day activity. My dad hasn't stopped talking about it and we will definitely be going back. Just an advisory: it's up 3 flights of stairs. This was our first experience with archery and we were very disappointed with the experience because of the staff. The instructor was very condescending and critical and really took all the fun out of it. We would definitely try archery again, but not at this place. The staff came across as pompous and superior, not at all encouraging or patient as you would expect them to be with a lesson. They don't teach you so much as they tell you the rules and then berate, even a child, for making a mistake. I would say go elsewhere for a lesson. read more

Ace Archers has excellent archery instruction; I've been bringing my son here for lessons, and his form and accuracy have improved dramatically in a short time. He has tried lessons at several other places that are closer to us, but this one is much better. The lessons are an 8-week set of classes, 2 hours each week. Each class begins with about 15-20 minutes of instruction and practice on the topic of the week, with everyone standing in front of a large mirror so you can check your form. This is followed by shooting practice on either short or long ranges, with instructors watching and giving tips the whole time. The staff:student ratio for the classes is excellent. Some days it's 1:3, sometimes a bit higher. The setup for waiting parents is great too. There's a long seating section along one wall, with long windows so you can watch what's happening on the shooting range. Free wifi, power plugs. A Keurig coffee-maker and snacks are for sale. They also run tournaments here, as well as outdoor shooting on some weekends. Tom and the staff are professional, and they also make it fun. They also have alternate targets you can use: zombies and dinosaurs. They also sell lots of equipment. Recurve and compound bows, crossbows, arrows, other accessories. read more

Very disappointed in the owner's decision to not honor a Boston deals voucher that would have only been used ONE day past the expiration date. Bought a half price voucher for a one hour archery lesson/target practice for my husband for Father's Day. Kept meaning to use it all summer long but realized this week that it expires on Friday. I called to explain that we would definitely be able to come down on Saturday to have my husband use the voucher as he cannot go on a weekday since he works full time. The owner immediately refused to honor the voucher and complained that he makes very little money off them anyways and proceeded to tell me how much he makes off each voucher. Very unprofessional and not my problem! DON'T offer deals on these types of sites if you don't like the amount of money you make off them!!!! The worst part of this whole ordeal is that Ace Archers just lost out on a LOT of business that my husband would have DEFINITELY given them. He has really been into archery lately and would have spent a lot of money in their store on merchandise as well as future archery practice sessions. Sorry, Ace Archers, you just lost out on a LOT of profit. Too bad your owner is stingy and wouldn't honor a measly one hour voucher that he's already gotten paid for anyways. OH and yes, I KNOW that we can use the amount we paid for the voucher towards a full price session. We will definitely not be doing that at a place owned and run by such an uptight and cheap person. Again, I can't STAND these businesses who offer "deals" to their stores/restaurants/salons, etc. and then COMPLAIN that they don't make enough money off them. Stop offering these types of deals OR look on the positive side and hope you will gain a larger repeat customer base that has been drawn in by the deal! read more

Had my son's 12th birthday party there. The owner who was also our lead instructor was extremely short and rude to most of us throughout our entire experience. He also was continually repremanding his staff which made the whole experience very uncomfortable. He had very little sense of what proper customer service is and should be working in the army as drill sergent not running a small business catering to the public. Although the kids had a good time they all commented on how rude the instructor was and we all were on edge the entire experience. Wish there were more facilities like this because it seems like a fun sport but I would not go back to this place. read more

I tried ace archer for the first time with my son and nephews. My son has used archery equipment before and was not asked if he was familiar with archery. We did not make a reservation and it was mentioned out loud in front of clients that we were walk ins which made us uncomfortable. The instructor (Arylis sp?) was unfriendly, rude and condescending to my son and he did not want to continue shooting after two tries. I spoke to management about her rude attitude and the management apologized and did not charge us for 15 minutes of use. I have a group on that I did not use and will not be back. The management did speak to the instructor while we were there but the instructor never did apologize to my child. I am aware of the dangers involved with archery but I assure you my son was nothing but polite and abided by all their safety rules. I do not recommend this place for children and would look else where to shoot bows and arrows. read more
