Terrible communication. Decided to take my business elsewhere. Walked in and consulted with Dicks Stereo about an Escort 360 install with RZ6 Laser jamming. I was told they would call me with an estimate. Over a week went by and no call so I stopped by to inquire. They swore they called me and left a message. Could be but I showed nothing on my phone and no messages in my inbox that which by the way was not full. So these things happen I get it. They quoted me almost $7500 installed. I said I'd rather spend that kind of money upgrading my sound system. I was told they would put together a system and call me tomorrow. This was two weeks ago and still no call. If the simple courtesy of calling when you say you are can't be followed do I really want them working my $85K car? Well first of all Im Lino Zackary Manglona Tenorio and just wanted you all to know what Ive experienced. I'm a two timed wounded Veteran that got Medical Discharge/Retired (2013) from the Army due to injuries I sustained twice in Iraq. If your wondering why Im saying this is because i was a Staff Sergeant (E-6) Promotable to Sergeant First Class (E-7) which is similar to a Supervisor promotable to Manager (In Charge of 16-18 soldiers) but not only do we train our soldiers (Employee) on there job but to also prepare them for the worst (War) and my job was to look for explosive or anything that deals with explosive and due to being injured twice at war (October 22, 2006 & January 20, 2007) and to assist Infantry or Military Police on there mission by raiding into houses and much more. Even getting wounded from a 500 pound explosive land mine and getting medivac back to the U.S (Washington State, Fort Lewis) I still volunteer to return back to Iraq a few months before everyone return back to Washington State even if I was close to loosing my arm or life I still return back. Months ago I went around to look for a place to hook up sounds in my vehicle when I came across Dick's Audio 5320 W Fairview Ave, Boise, ID 83706 208-994-5591. I got bout almost $5,000 worth of stuff and then I left. Bout 30 min I realized I was just blowing my money left and right and at same time I was thinking of taking my life because injuries I sustained in Iraq keeps getting in the way on my daily duties. I dove back to Dick's Audio and told them sorry but I need my money back and was in tears crying. Every person that I spoke to most especially John are incredible. When I walked out to my vehicle John followed me and said if you ever need help they'll be there. I was so shock when he told me that and there one reason why I didn't take my life away. From then on ill buy a Pizza or other food for them every now and then. When I started feeling better I'll check on the guys that works at Dick's and hang around for a bit. Slowly I start getting bunch of stuff hooked up in my vehicle like 2 12inch speaker, all factory speakers change out, a camera that records while your driving and much more. I do know bout sounds but I acted like I didn't know just to see if there just attacking for my wallet but no there not. They actually try to help customers and recommend them to get the right products. They treat customers as if there like family. They all have positive attitude and outstanding customer service. So far everything I got hook up I'm my vehicle. So if your looking around to buy sounds or gadgets for your vehicle I recommend getting it at Dick's because there the best I've been to and most importantly they aren't attacking people wallet. They also Support Our Troops, so if you do support the troops or not then head over to Dick's and check out what they have. I promise you that you won't be disappointed. I had a very unfortunate and expensive experience here. I needed some power cable for an amp in my boat. When I told the person behind the counter they went back and cut the cable before telling me the price per foot. When check out came I was extremely surprised to find out that my 40' of cable was over $175. I would not have purchased this if I knew they were charging over $4 a foot for this stuff. At that point I was obligated to purchase. I later found the exact same cable for ~$.75/foot. Less than a quarter of what Dick's was charging. I tried returning and was told I couldn't return because of policy. They should consider making it policy to disclose and confirm with the customer the price of an cut to order item before cutting it. Seems to be a but of a double standard. Pass over Dick's and make the short journey out to really any shop in Nampa, or hell, I hate to say it, shop online. I went here because I wanted to support local, but it's impossible to justify this type of pricing. read more

I read a few of the reviews and decided to give Dick's a try. My son has a 20 year old car and listens to hip hop. You can imagine what hip hop sounds like on 20 year old car speakers. I did not want to put to much money in a 20 year old car driven by a teenager. I walked in and was helped by Casey. I explained the situation and he told me what he would do. It was way under my budget so I asked him what else he would do. He recommended some stuff and I dropped the car off the next day. Once they had the car apart they wanted to use an adapter which would be a few more dollars. I appreciated them calling me to let me know it would be a little more and I understand you don't know everything until you have the car apart and see what is going to fit. When I picked the car up I met the manager who was also very nice. He has the coolest Jeep! Anyway my teenage son is very happy with his car stereo and I appreciate the honesty and service I got from Dick's and I would go there again. read more

I saw the two negative reviews so I wanted to give my (favorable) impression. I had a stereo system put in my 1966 mustang keeping the original looking faceplate. They had ordered the wrong kick plate speaker but otherwise the process was flawless. I'm still waiting for the kick plate to be painted to match the car. I needed to change out the stereo in my Jeep. Too Slow, no carplay etc. I went to Dick's Stereo many years ago and so I knew it was a great place. So if you want excellent customer service, employees that go above and beyond what you would expect. This is the place. I had them put in a new stereo but it really wasn't working for me. Not their fault. I just couldn't see the screen and my trusty iPod wouldn't work with it. John did some research and found a system that would work better for me and gave me a good deal too. They were running a Black friday special and neglected to tell me about the chip I apparently needed to buy on top of the original fee for the starter I wanted. I had called twice to make sure all I needed to bring was the amount advertised because My bank card was demagnatised and I needed to physically go into the bank to pull the cash. This place was recommended to me by my auto mechanic, but I can tell you YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY NOT GO HERE!! I understand that it's probably hard to find good help when you pay poorly and expect a level of technical skills from your employees. I get that. However, the staff don't even have a basic level of customer service skills, they're unorganized, they talk smack about each other, and they definitely don't seem to have the technical skills to do the installations correctly. And half of the time they don't even answer the phone. The item I purchased hasn't worked properly since day 1. We'll see if they can fix it this time (3rd time bringing it back in 3 months.) sigh... Update: They saw my Yelp review and tried to make it right so I am increasing from 1 star to 3. The remote start is now working, and will hopefully continue to do so. Went in and explained what my stereo was doing was told it was the deck ..i asked if they should check the amp to see if it could be that and was told they thought it sounded like the deck so i set up appointment to get installed... they told me if there was a cancelation they would get me in earlier... I recorded the sound the system was making while i waited for my install...there was a cancelation so they called me in early which i was excited about...i played it for them and told them it was too make sure it wasnt the amp.. they told me they thought it was the deck...half hour later they said they hooked up the new deck and it was still making the noise so it must be the amp..i asked if they could put the deck back and replace the amp they said no so i ended up having to pay even more to now also by an amp..i brought this to there attention when i went to pick up the car that i was not happy about it and pretty much got shrugged off...i was thankful they got me in early but i will never go back nor will i suggest them to anybody... you would think that many years in the treasure valley they would take better care of there customers. read more

This place is horrible! They are liars and rude horrible people! The ran a special on black Friday, an automatic car starter for 139 including instalation. It was advertised on the radio so I called in to ask about it. I actually ended up calling in 3 times to ask about it. Every time they said that it was $139 for the car starter INSTALLED. So come black Friday, I get up and get there at 7am 2 hour before they open mind you. I'm first in line and I have my friend with me whom I'm buying one for her as well for a Xmas gift. They open and we go in and the guy we talk to starts telling us how on top of the $139 we have to pay for a certain chip to be put in. Well that chip ends up being $75+ labor. I told him how I was never told about this chip and he was fake apologetic and said "well everyone I talked to I told about the chip, you must of spoken to one of the installers". I asked if there was anything they could do to help out with the price since I wasn't told about it the 3 times I called prior and OF COURSE the guy said no. He was rude and didn't give a crap. They lied to me and blamed me. If the installers can't give correct information on a sale then they shouldn't be answering the phones! The best part? The guy I was dealing with in the store that said he always mentioned the chip Was the one I talked to on the phone!!! And he did NOT mention the chip!! I wouldn't recomend this place to anyone! They are dishonest and try to slip in unsuspected charges in on you last minute. read more

Was not happy with their services whatsoever! My friend was going to buy me a Christmas present from these people. A car starter. Supposed to be $130 flat out from what they said over the phone several times. Even over the radio. Once we got there they started adding on these extra fees next thing we know they charging her $200 more dollars! I couldn't believe it. Because our keys had chips in them and they needed to work around that and there's a labor fee for that. Omg! Ridiculous! I may be a girl and I do know you are screwing us. I can't believe what you did to my friend. Shame on you. This is the holidays. Money is more important than people to you I guess. To treat them the way you just treated her. You never told her on the phone about the chips and yet you are saying someone should have. Whatever you are lying you just want the extra money and rip her off. Today, I went to Dick's for some new speakers in my older Dodge pickup. When I made the appointment, I told them that one of my speakers was not working. They did the work in a reasonable time frame. As I was paying, I inquired about the bad speaker. The tech said that no one told him. We walked out to check the new install and found that the tech never checked his work and it was not working. I went back to waiting. The manager stated that there was a problem with the wiring and I would have to pay more. After 10 or 15 minutes, I was informed that the speaker in question had a broken wire and it was fixed. As I got up to leave, the manager said, how about ten bucks? I said that was fine because I thought he was gonna give me 10 dollars back for my trouble. Once I got to the counter I realized that he was charging me 10 more dollars for the repair to the broken speaker wire. The 10 dollars was ridiculous given the fact that the tech never actually checked his work to see if the stuff they sold me for $400 was actually working. Makes me wonder about shortcuts they took during the install and other problems I will have. No thanks Dicks! I will never go back. Buyer beware. read more
