So usually I go shopping for clothes once a year and I that point I need a whole wardrobe so I walked in with no greeting ( very important ) from anyone and I start loading my cart with under armor items and when my cart was full I so some items that I wanted to buy ( a under armor lunch bag and a few yetis ) I made my way to the shoes and the manager was following me and I tried looking at shoes ( Jordan's ) one my size was the display and I didn't want that one after trying on and asked for different shoes same size was told they where out suspicious went back to the under armor section to get a few more shirts and the manager was following me again and making eye contact so now I know I'm being harassed so when I go to the lane to purchase who's by the door the manager and the cashier asked how was my shopping and I told her it wasn't good her manager thinks I'm gonna steal she said no she's there to greet everyone and I told her she wasn't there when I came in and she said she was on break that's possible but while she's scanning the everything in my cart that I place on the counter section by section the cashier kind of made the experience a little reliving sense everything is being folded individually and with the help of another coworker but after I paid I walk towards the exit the the alarm goes off after they folded and took off the hangers and everything and guess who was staring at me the manager and when I noticed her she turns away the cashier found there mistake it was a sensor that wasn't attached to anything. Did not have a great experience at Dick's yesterday. An awkward man stopped us at the entrance and told us to read a sign. Sign said something about whether you had covid symptoms or not so they can reject you from coming in. He told us to read it but then didn't say anything else? So we walked away. We were looking for shoes and asked an associate for help. We needed a specific size and width of shoes so we asked if he had any suggestions. He didn't say anything so my boyfriend asked him again and he's like "ummmmm i dunno" . Aren't associates suppose to know what kind of products they carry on site? It's a yes or no answer. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Paul and his other store associates. Paul asked if I needed anything in particular today, and then proceeded to locate slip resistance grips for me. He took me over to the gym equipment. We didn't find them on the floor so he searched in the back. As I waited in the shoe section Betsy was quick to assist me with my sneaker questions and brought out some for me to try on. She was super helpful, knowledgeable and customer oriented. Paul brought me the merchandise I was on the hunt for as I tried on shoes. Will be coming back to this location 10/10 recommend. The Good: - Price Matching; make sure and do your research beforehand as most things here are overpriced especially compared to Amazon. - Great customer service, I can always find an employee around willing to help find what I'm looking for. - Great Hours: Opens at 9am and closes at 9:30pm except Sunday. That's really good opening hours considering most shops in the same shopping center open at 10am. The Bad: - Limited Hiking Gear. For example, no hiking sticks today besides two trekking poles. - Limited women clothing. I often have to shop in the men's department in order to get outdoor apparel that makes sense. - Overpriced items; but like I mentioned before they do have price matching. The Ugly: - ZERO petite clothing! Which means everything is too big, too wide and/or too long for me. So frustrating! - I often walk in and walk right back out unless I'm desperate because of time constraints, which is usually the only reason I stop by. read more

Elmo is an absolute treasure! I made a call to the store and asked about a Co2 tank for a T-shirt cannon. I needed it ASAP. Elmo was so kind and polite when he checked to see if his store had any on the shelf. While on a brief hold he came back on the line to let me know it would be just a little bit longer so that he could make sure there was someone in store with experience in filling the tanks. I really appreciated that update. It made me feel like a valued customer. When I arrived in store 20 minutes later I encountered Elmo on his hands and knees pounding out a baseball glove straight from the steamer on a cushion placed on the floor with a wooden mallet! Elmo is incredible. It's obvious that he loves his job! I introduced myself and away we went to get the Co2 tanks! He directed me to pay for them up front and in the meantime he'd find someone to fill them for me. After paying, I returned to where I'd left him and sure to his word Elmo and Josh, the store manager was waiting for me to return with my receipt. I can't thank Elmo enough. The T-shirt cannon worked like a charm! Please let him know what a fantastic job he is doing! I told him he was awesome and he just gave me a little chuckle. I received a putter as a gift. I went to the store and explained I didn't have a receipt but I was hoping to trade it for another club or store credit as I like my current putter. The girl at the counter scanned it and confirmed it was from their store. Mind you the club is brand new and still has the plastic on it. She speaks to Someone on her ear piece and she then directs me to Bruce in the golf shop. He takes a look at it and says "I need to determine the value" I was surprised because the young lady at the counter said the price was $229.99. He sits at his computer and starts looking around 5 minutes later he tells me "without a receipt all we can offer you $90.00! I was floored. As I am walking out the young lady I initially spoke come over to apologize. There are three other girls hanging out at the counter. As we are discussing the fact I thought this wasn't a fair offer as this is the latest model, it unused and it's never been on sale. One of the girls pops up and asks to speak to the manager. I explained it wasn't necessary. Less than a minute later the a young pregnant girl shows up and asks "Is there a problem!" In a rude and condescending tone. I explained there was no problem, the young lady and I were discussing your return policy. At that point she went on and on on unscrupulous ways people try to get over on them. I felt that was directed at me. I asked if I could say something and she said "No, I am not done and you interrupted me sentence, do you want to listen" I said no thanks and walked out. Never have I been treated so bad by someone that is supposed to be the authority at the store and an example to her employees. The sad thing is my family and I buy so many things at Dicks from tennis shoes to camping gear, fishing gear and of course golf equipment. That stops today! Woohoo! I got a coupon in my Thanksgiving turkey sized holiday newspaper for 2 boxes of golf balls for $15 at Dick's! That's right smart guy, I'm buying my balls at Dick's. I assure you that the pun is not lost on me. What is also not lost on me is the fact that they are building a "BJ's" right behind the Dick's. Keep 'em coming buddy, I can do this all day. Which brings me to the subject of the affectionate nickname for the proprietor of such a sports mega lo mart. I understand that Christoper's are Chris and Michael's are Mike and Richard's are Dick but when considering naming a store that deals in sports whose most common underlying theme is the use of balls, it just seems like a bad idea. Of course perhaps that was the marketing genius of the whole thing, I don't know. Maybe initially it started out as a hockey supply chain and grew from there, who knows? I'm too lazy to read the history. The moniker notwithstanding, Dick's is a sight to behold for the sports enthusiast. Every sport accessory is available here and you can always find something on sale. Last spring I found some Brooks running shoes that were half price because the new line had been introduced. I have purchased some excellent tennis rackets that were discounted by half as well. Today I battled the throngs of early bird Black Friday shoppers to buy some golf balls. It wasn't too bad except for the lady in line who was apparently responsible for outfitting the entire neighborhood junior soccer league team. Before I went in , I looked online for some compression socks I needed. Since there is a location close to work , I decided to go to the store and pick them up. To my surprise they didn't care the socks I needed in that location. after speaking to a very friendly young lady she said the other location off i-10 might have them. So I go to the golf shop to get 8 new grips put on by tomorrow and the man behind the counter says we only usually do 1-2 golf clubs a day and that's on weekdays. My first thought was i can't believe this. Golf galaxy can do a whole set in about 2 hours. Needless to say I walked out of there with no new grips. The old man behind the counter had no customer service at all and acted like he was to good to even talk to me. I've been to the one in New Braunfels. I like the atmosphere, but you aren't going to get off cheap. I won't buy shoes here as they are too pricey for me. Academy has just as good of a selection but with better prices. No way am I going to buy shoes from this place, period. I looked at the prices of their shoes and for a simple pair such as Nike or New Balance, you are going to pay more than you think is acceptable. I've been looking for a local shop that carries hockey jerseys, so my ginormous ManCub and I can at least try on any old sweaters and get an idea of our sizes before we order ones we really want from them fancy innernetz. I was in the area Friday evening and noticed Dick's, figured I'd give it a shot. The place appeared to be a customer-desert when I walked in, but I was warmly greeted by the 3 or 4 employees at the registers. Of course the answer to my "do you have hockey gear" was - initially - a solid no. This IS South Texas, and I've come to expect it. But before the "no" was even out of their mouths, one of the guys had a visible lightbulb moment and told me he remembered a Dallas Stars jersey being returned "a couple months ago" from an online purchase, and that he was pretty sure they still had it. Within minutes he had led me to that single, months-old Stars sweater - high fives for effort and initiative, dude! You rock! ! Unfortunately that particular jersey wasn't appropriate sizing for either spawn or myself - Bummer. I really would've liked to reward that guy with a sale. And gotten his name. - but he did give some great tips about purchasing online/returning online purchases (ie that both of those transactions are best performed in-store - it negates shipping costs) Once I find jerseys to try on (Northwoods rink, maybe? Or perhaps - unlikely, but perhaps - the AT&T Center will get their act together and actually carry a couple or 3 Rampage sweaters??) that's exactly what I'll do - go into this Dick's and order from there. Today I went into this store to exchange a pair of golf shorts. I noticed a display table advertising Adidas shorts being reduced from $60 to $39.00. The only shorts on the table were three pairs of white Adidas shorts, matching the description on the advertisement placard. I took the shorts to the register, but the price registered as $60. I informed the representative that the price had been reduced according to the advertisement on the display table. A representative checked the price and couldn't figure out why the shorts were not reflecting the new price. After searching around the display table, the golf representative pulled out a pair of blue and a pair of red shorts underneath the display table (completely out of site). He said the new price only applied to these items. I informed him that the advertisement was misleading and should be corrected. I figured I would bring it up to the manager, who was unavailable, so I spoke with a customer service representative. The rep acted like he had better things to do and did not want to hear my concern. I showed him the display rack with the advertisement. He said the advertised price only applied to the merchandise with a marked down price on the tag. I told the rep that the advertisement was incorrect and misleading. He asked me if I thought they should only display certain items on the rack. I informed him that was not my decision, only that the advertisement should specify which items are discounted, either by item number or by colors. The representative at the register did refund my originally purchased item, which I'm grateful for. However, I will likely take my business somewhere else. I think it's unfortunate that this store used these tactics to make a few extra bucks. I also didn't appreciate the unprofessionalism of the customer service representative. I hope this is an isolated incident, but I thought it should be shared. read more

Went to exchange shoes that did not fit. I did not have my receipt. The clerk was going to let me exchange them for the correct size, but the manager stepped in and said that any shoes that have been worn outside of the store could not be exchanged. How would you know if shoes fit if you didn't wear them? The shoes were in good condition, but had some red tint from the track. Easily removed. My third pair of Brooks, $100+, shoes from Dick's. From now on my business goes elsewhere. My receipt was found on my Scorecard account after I arrived home. Apparently that really doesn't matter. read more

Stopped to purchase some Nike Free 5.0 running sneakers for my son. They did not have his size so I went online to purchase them. On the website, I signed up to receive a 10% discount by giving them my email address to receive their junk emails. Well, turns out the Nike shoes I ordered were excluded from any type of discounts. I was pissed off! THEN 3 days later I receive the Nike shoes in the mail and they have the big plastic security tag attached. I called their customer service # again and they told me to take the shoes to their store to get the tag removed or mail them back to them. What kind of Stupid Idiots would do this type of thing! All they offered was 10% back for all my troubles. $10 back for wasting my gas & time! I WILL NEVER shop at Dicks Sporting Goods EVER AGAIN !!! I find all Dick's ridiculously overpriced and the selection poor - i.e. they don't carry shrader valve tubes, more than a few brands of socks, etc. I stopped here to pick up some bike tubes thinking the Ohio Dicks was an anomaly, nope, Dicks just doesn't carry shrader. I did grab a couple nutritional things and during my checkout, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, even giving suggestions on the closest store to get what I needed. Dicks is what it is, but the staff recognizes that and are quite helpful rather than surly that you don't buy what they want you to buy v. what you want to buy. read more
