The store is clean, and the staff are some of the friendliest I've met in a long time. I was shopping for an item and the salesperson in the department was on the ball from the minute we stepped into the area until the minute we left. Professional, helpful, friendly. These days, that is a rare treat. He approached us. We didn't have to hunt for anyone. Another visit, every department we even walked by, the sales staff spoke to us with a smile on their face. Was walking through to get to my car and they had a pink glitter Stanley right on the front table. I wasn't going to but it because I don't need *another* Stanley... but my family encouraged me and I know I'll use it so I caved and bought it. Good old Dick's Sporting Goods. They always seem to save the day when I need last minute gear for whatever activity I'm preparing for. This time we were searching for body boards, aka "boogie" boards. A smaller version of a surfboard so the girls could play in the surf tomorrow at the beach. I asked a staff member who was puzzled if they had any in stock. He made a call to another staffer to check on it and helped us find them in the corner of the store by the kayaks. Within five minutes of entering the store, we had our hands on them. The girls were happy and we had what we came for. Their website was accurate when it said they had them in stock. My daughter and I stopped in Dick's to purchase a couple of arm compression bands. It was the week before Christmas and the huge store only had a handful of shoppers mulling around. The store was very clean and organized. We could not find our item so after wandering around the store we attempted to find any employee on the floor assisting customers. We scanned the entire floor and the only employee that we found was the one working the cash register. He told us where to look and to our mounting frustration he was incorrect. I was determined not to make this a wasted trip so we walked every aisle and eventually found the arm compression bands. It would have been a much better customer experience if we did not have to waste so much time looking for our purchase. I prefer to shop in a store where assisting customers is one of their top priorities. Otherwise buying online is the way to go. read more

Replacing where Nordstrom once stood this new anchor location offers a ton of options for any sport enthusiast. The layout is a bit difficult unless you're into a specific brand, since they segment them by band name and not item type. I was looking for some new running hair bands and each brand segment had their own offerings, so I had to walk around to see all the options. There was only one cashier and about four people in line, so it was a little slow moving. She was friendly, which did help. Overall: B- Hard to find specific items without looking everywhere to see all the options. Definitely not a quick in and out shop. read more

I'm trying to think of anyone asked me did I need help. A few workers were on the floor re stocking the Friday before Xmas but I didn't get any help and walked past/near a couple staff members. I didn't need any BUT STILL... bad business. The guy who checked me out was super cool thou in which he saved this establishment from getting a 1. The reviews are already under par I see. 4 stars for an immaculate shop with clearly labeled sections, attentive staff, and its own entrance (which is useful given the fact that it's located in the FL Mall). When you walk in you're struck by how new and neatly organized it is. At first I wandered a bit to check out the sections and try to find swimming accessories. I passed a rack featuring Orlando City Soccer gear (yay- local!), as well as the largest selection of sports leggings I've encountered in a while. They seem to have a section for any athletic activity you may be interested in. I noticed a few signs along the way pointing to a button you can press if you're needing assistance. Luckily, I didn't even have to use the button. I was looking at some goggles and earplugs when an English fellow came over and offered help. He helped guide me to the right product for which I'd come and he ran over to get a pricing gun to check the price for me. Just an overall pleasant experience, service-wise. After a few quick (and fairly inexpensive) purchases, I'd definitely return if the need arose and recommend it as a one-stop shop for active folks in town. read more

Dick's Sporting Goods Online Ordering - What a joke. Dick's Sporting Goods - Florida Mall - What a joke. Submitted an order online for two footballs. That's it. Over an hour later I go to the store and order not only isn't ready, they have no idea who I am and what I want. No one wants to help with my online order or helping me find what I need, so i wander the store myself, finding the bin of said footballs. I pick up two and off to the cashiers I go. And wait while one cashier is helping a person who speaks zero english. Clearly an issue for other employees playing grab ass with each other to step up and help out their co workers clear the growing line. Not in this store! Finally get my balls (hah) and walk out the door. Call the "customer assistance" line for the online ordering and tell them of my situation and my desire to cancel the online order. They tell me they are unable to do that as the online order is over 30 minutes old (mind you, over an hour later I went to the store to pick up my online order) and tough poop. I disconnect and call the store I was just at. First employee no help. Big shock. Second employee passes herself off as the store manager. Said nothing they can do and threw the online ordering website under the bus as"Well, they are having problems and nothing I can do about it". I call back to online "customer assistance" and ask to speak with a manager about my situation. 27 minutes on hold and then finally Brianna answers the line and spends five minutes telling me that too bad, so sad, but nothing I am going to do for you. Going to purposely go to the store and pick up my online order and immediately turn around and return it with the receipt. You know, not one of the employees I spoke with even offered any sympathy for my situation or said a simple "I'm sorry". I would have been okay with the simple fact that someone had any compassion or give a shit. Instead, you have a customer who has been double charged for two simple footballs and received an assassination Yelp review because no one cared or even said sorry. read more

So angry. I went to dicks because supposedly they know sports. WRONG. I got help purchasing a bat for my son. They did not have the bat he wanted so they helped get a different one. 24 hours later i find out it's illegal to use. Why would you sell someone a bat that their kid can not play with and worse why won't you let me exchange it? I was told the wrapper was removed and there is nothing they can do. I am here just one day after I bought it. It's not like he went and played a tournament with it. He unwrapped it for goodness sake. Now I understand we all have rules. And had the manager explained with some sort of empathy or understanding I wound not have gotten so so angry but he told me it was my job to know my "drop numbers" and that's what I should have come in with. I don't even know what that means so I showed him the photos of the bat (and all the numbers on the bat) that we had originally come for and he so rudely said to me that he had no idea what I expect any associate to gain from those photos be said they didn't have what he needed. Now I've said about ten times. I don't know a thing about this stuff. I came to Dicks because they are usually so helpful. This manager kept acting as if I had done something wrong and I just don't get it. There is so much that could have been done. He offered nothing. I gave suggestions and he didn't even make eye contact when I was taking. He accused me of lying about the date I bought it but I pointed out on my receipt that I had in fact purchased the bat just yesterday. There is something you can do. You can train your staff to know this information and pass this critical info to customers so this doesn't happen again. You can hang up signs that say these bats are not allowed in little league. There are SO MANY things you should have done and now that you still can do. (You can also send Mr Manager to some customer service classes and teach him how to tastefully decline a return instead of being defensive and jerk like) This was a lot of money. You totally missed the mark on this one and I can't even believe how poorly I was treated by the manager. Shame On you, Dicks. read more

In my central FL area, I compare prices between Academy Sports and Dick's all the time.. Academy always wins. You will save money by NOT going to Dick's. I'm sad that Sports Authority went out of business, but I am very thankful that we have Academy in our area. I will always choose Academy unless I absolutely have to pick up some accessory for my kids' sports that Academy doesn't have. read more

brought a pair of Nike shoes in the Clermont store and ordered another pair of Nike shoes at the store online because they did not have my size, sent me a pair of shoes from the warehouse, that obliviously had been worn by someone else and were not NEW! Not the customer service you would expect for a chain as big as DICK'S....very disappointing.. how can this happen??? read more
