Went in this store for a couple of swimming caps, that's all I needed. Noticed everyone purchasing jerseys for Father's Day and I was like, darn it! So I grabbed a jersey and a new pair of shoes. This is my first pair of Adidas; I love the comfort cushioning. I walk around downtown Chicago everyday so, I needed these. Lol! Liked this Dick's ... they have a lot of stuff---all the brand names you are used to, including their own private labeling---and it is all presented in a attractive layout. Nice big clean store, roomy aisles to shop in, and two levels of merchandise. They stock just about everything you can think of from clothes, to golf clubs, to weights, to gym shoes, to fishing gear, etc. Liked the store and the staff was helpful. Pricey merch, but I think that is just the way it is today. Still and all, we will return. read more

Needed a new coat so I decided to stop by Dick's in Orland Park. Got there at 6;30 PM on a Tuesday and the doors were locked. Knocked on the door and an employee just looked at me and turned away. A few minutes later she came, unlocked the door and told me that their wifi is down and that I can come in but cannot buy anything. Willing to take the chance that the wifi would come up quickly, I went in and started to look around. I was immediately disgusted with the condition of the store. Horrible place. Bought a pair of ON jym shoes that were defected. Tried to exchange them with receipt. They said they weren't able to take them back. I tried explaining my situation to the clerk. She was very rude and looked miserable. She literally threw the gym shoe box back at me. When I spoke to the manager she said no 2 feet are the same size. Not our problem. My family and I will never shop there again. If you are going to pay twice as much at Dicks for the same products as Other department stores, the service should be much better. read more

I submitted a pickup order request that took over 6 hours to fulfill and when I called to cancel one of the disrespectful reps refused to return my order telling me it can't be done then hung up. I called again asking why and he hung up again and continued to pick up and hang up without answering. First time shopping here and will be my last. I hate this place. Well, I should be fair and say that the company itself isn't bad as far as the merchandise they offer, but from what I've experienced, the staff there leaves something to greatly be desired. God forbid you actually NEED something from them, because they're too wrapped up in what happened on One Tree Hill last night to give you the time of day. This seems to go on every time I shop there, so I don't feel unfair in my review because this is not an isolated incident. I wish it was, because it used to be a really good store when it was Galyan's. Last week, I went in looking for running shoes and when ready to ask for a specific model in my size, there was absolutely no one in sight. I walked nearly all the way to the front of the store just to find an employee (the shoe dept is at the back), and when I did, my "interruption" was about as welcomed as Chris Hansen at a Pedophile Convention. Oh, and the climbing wall in the middle of the store? Closed. Why am I not surprised? I felt obligated to write this review after Yelp removed my tip. Yelp asked for a more personal experience. My tip addressed the slanderous review by Julie S. I've been coming here for several years. Dick's is a large, clean store. I chose to come to Dick's rather than Sports Authority because of the cleanliness and large selection. Now that SA is gone I expect Dick's to continue providing good service and offerings. Dick's has a full range of sporting equipment and apparel. On my most recent trip I purchased several free weights at a competitive price. I've purchased football and baseball gear on many occasions. The apparel is somewhat pricey but look for the occasional sale. I managed to grab Reebok cold weather tights at half price. I also found integrated football pants at half price. Dick's goes beyond the traditional sports. You can get archery equipment and a full range of fishing gear as well. My main criticism of this location is that they do not carry firearms. Also, they used to stock a large inventory of shoes. You had the option of looking for your size. Now you have to work with an associate in the shoe department to find your size. This is a hassle, especially if they are busy, and consequently I now buy my shoes elsewhere. Let's get back to Julie's review. Be aware of people that cry racism at the drop of a hat. These agitators often don't consider the alternatives. Did you walk into the store 10 mins prior to close? Were you loud and obnoxious? Tell me why the associates were allegedly staring at you. Guess what Julie? I've seen plenty of "persons of color" shopping at this location and have never seen any problems. Lots of "persons of color" work here too. And by the way, I don't care if your "friend" wears nice clothing and a Rolex watch. Again, you seem to play the race card at every opportunity. After all, you've slandered the entire Orland Park region in your review. It must have been real tough on you growing up in the mean streets of Orland Park and having to deal with Klan rallies. Please. And by the way, if they are out of cold beer at the liquor store that doesn't make the store racist. Now that I've defended Dick's and the entire Orland Park region from the Julie S'. accusations I'll finish up. Dick's is a fine store. It's not the cheapest place but they carry a wide variety of items. Look for the sales. Plenty of parking on the east side of the store. The lot on the west side is very crowded. It's not perfect but you'll find what you're looking for. The Rewards program is pretty good too. Coupons are not good all everything (i.e. Under Armour) but the rewards certificates that you earn are as good as cash and valid on everything. read more

Lots of customers in the shoe department and no salespeople to be found! Finally, after another customer and I looked around for a bit, I spotted a kiosk. I looked up what I wanted and pressed the button for it to be brought out to me. It said it was in stock. Finally a salesperson arrived and asked what he could get me. He wnt to get it then came back out asking my shoe size again. He wnt away to get my shoe and came back saying it was not in stock. There were at least 20 different customers. Eventually another salesperson arrived, and he ran into me! He did apologize, but I was standing right there for a moment and he still ran into me! The last time I was here (about a month ago) there was also no salesperson. I walked to the front counter to ask them to get someone. She also walked away for long periods of time and was the only person working (loosely used the term working because she, like today's associates, was barely working). read more

Do not purchase an in ground basketball net and have them install it unless u can wait 2 months after you buy it and soon it will be winter again. I purchased it on 3/27/2022 and I called the install company to tell them that the gas company came and and the area is clear. They said they are on a weather hold from November 2021. Then she asked if the ground was wet. I said it is raining today. She said the ground has to be dry. She said it will be 2 to 3 weeks after the weather hold is taken off but she didn't know when this will be happening. I got sucked in because it was cheap and I guess I'm getting what I paid for. My family had a bad experience at orland park dicks sporting goods tonight. manager Victoria is too young to handle the store. She may need to mature before handling customer service. after spending almost $300 in store I felt that manager Victoria was following and harassing me and my family after we purchased our items. me and my family went upstairs after we were excited to change into our new gear... manager Victoria was in area following us after we left fitting rooms out until we were trying to exit. We did nothing wrong the whole time in store. She just thought we were stealing, I will never return to this store after I have spent 100s of dollars over the years .I suggest you Hire more experienced, professional managers for night shift... they should be able to handle a situation instead of walking away feeling ashamed of themsleves or laughing about situation read more

I try to steer clear from Dick's Sporting Goods at all cost. I only came to use a gift card someone had gifted me. The employees are the worst and honest act as if they are doing you a favor. I had picked out my merchandise within ten minutes; but waiting to find anyone that worked there took a half hour. Finally after wandering the store I rang the bell on a fitting room door; surprise I waited again. You can not find a single employee for help it's absolutely ridiculous. Then you have to wait in line for what seems like forever as they have 15 customers in line and two cashiers. I truly wonder how they are still in business after having the worst customer service. All 5 stars for this Dick's store. I searched for weeks to find a place that would replace the broken shaft of my grandpa's driver. Several other Dick's locations, golf galaxy, pga superstore- none of them had the shaft i needed or were unable to repair it. I brought it to Bob in the golf department and he was eager to help me and he appreciated the sentimental value of the club as well. He projected it would cost $80 out the door, turned out to be $53. He told me John would call me he had it fixed which he did the next day. When I went to pick it up, the store was slow. I asked john if I could take a few swings in the simulator. No only did he let me use the simulator, but he offered me so much real-time information and tips that will certainly help my game! He went above and beyond his and I'm tremendously grateful. I have three growing boys,all in sports. Been here plenty plenty of times as with all the other sports stores. This location in particular has the best variety of brands to choose from. Some things are more expensive than your sports authority, you just have to look around. The Nike selection for women is a step below the actual Nike store. If I could have a shopping spree here I would. I mean, I don't work out much but if I did I would totally buy my gear from here. Unlike other reviewers, I've never had a problem getting help from the staff here. They've been very attentive. I've went as far as being in a rush before a game and coming in with a picture of what was needed and they find it for me and I meet them at the register! Watch your register totals! At least half the time I come here, I catch them overcharging me for something. If it were once or twice, I'd say it was accidental or an oversight. This seems like an intentional act to me, as it's happened probably ten or more times over the years. Since there aren't any other sporting goods stores in the area now, I guess I'm stuck. I like this store. It's really big. They have a huge selection of women's running clothes which I like. I can't say I've ever actually bought running clothes there because they're really expensive but it's fun to look. I always buy my brother Christmas presents from there because he likes everything they sell. They have a good clearance section, I got a Chicago Bears shirt for $7! read more

Frank from the workout dept is very rude. Went in the other day to purchase a treadmill and he was not helpful at all. When I finally decided that i wanted to purchase something his attitude changed completely. As soon as I told him that he walked away from me . Not to sure where he went to because he never told me anything he just walked away . So I waited for at least 10 minutes in the workout dept until I finally asked another employee if i can get assistance . John was the employees name he was VERY HELPFUL ! He thought it was also weird how he didn't tell me anything about going to a register or waiting for him NOTHING . I guess he has been waiting for me to come to the register . After I purchased it he helped me get it into my car. He was either upset that he had to do he's job and lift up a treadmill or he was just racist asshole because I'm a woman of color. Went here on XMas day to buy a few gifts for some friends and family and was able to pretty much complete my whole list. They have everything, not just everything but the newest of everything. Awesome customer service as well which always makes for a pleasant trip without being hassled to buy or upgrade items. The selection is great especially after the new addition! Love the new layout, which makes the store easily accessible from both the front and back of the store. Upstairs seems to have more out doors sports where as the lower half is all appeal and team sports i.e, football, baseball, basketball, etc. read more

Went there to get a tennis racquet restrung with string I provided ($15 set). I get a call from the stringer (days past when it was supposed to have been strung btw) telling me my string was "rotten". The dufus didn't know or look up the fact that this higher end string shouldn't be kinked in the string process - it tends to break at the kink. So this fool kinks it, it breaks. I go to pick up the racquet and they hand me the remainder of my string, no apologies, no refund, no offer to string it with an equivalent. I know, why write a review of a sporting goods store? but recently had some terrible customer service here. I was about 5pm on a weekday, and had to wait 15 minutes to check out, and literally there were 4 "service" people standing around talking, and 1 was checking her phone during the time. Myself and another fella in line recommended they open another register and we just got a blank 1000 yard stare from one of the employees. I was shopping for shoes with my son and was in the shoe section for 20 minutes and nobody ever checked on me, if I was the manager I would cut my staff by 50% because nobody was doing anything during our visit. Worst experience of my shopping career. I went in to get a pair of soccer cleats for a tournament that was later in the day. I walked in asked a worker where the soccer section is and they knew the answer. That was good. When I got to the cleats section I noticed that their selection wasn't a selection at all. There were more rock climbing options than soccer cleats! I found the pair I was most satisfied with but they didn't have my size. So after a 5 minute wait an associate finally stumbled by the soccer section and asked if I needed help. I said yes I would like this pair in a size 10.5. He said that he didn't know where the stock room was exactly because he had just started working and he was usually not in this section. So he got his coworker (another 5 minutes) and she told me she would go and grab them. So i waited. And waited. And waited. Then the original associate saw me unassisted and still sitting there waiting. He knew I was upset. So he ran and got the girl and they both came back to me with the cleats. She apologized and said she started helping another customer and it took longer than she expected... so about an hour after walking into the store I finally made it to the cash register. I wont even go into that experience but let's just say I could have figured out how to cash myself out quicker than the cashier did. Total time to get A pair of cleats: 1 hour and 20 minutes. Stopped in to exchange a very small mitt for my grandson. The young man at the cashier's was so nice (dark hair and glasses). While I was there I thought I'd look for a few things. Trying to get some help was ridiculous. I needed to get into the dressing room and had to keep ringing the bell. Some girl saw me on her way upstairs and instead of saying anything, called out to some other guy to help me. Then, I stopped another young guy who didn't appear busy and asked him a question about very small Blackhawk jerseys--you would've thought I asked him for a personal loan!! He was abrupt with a three word answer (no offer of help) and kept walking. Then I went to the bike department where I wandered around looking for something while one guy was at a counter and someone else didn't appear to be doing much. No one asked me if I needed help. Worst customer service ever!!!! I come to this location at least once a week to buy buckets of baseballs. Every single time I go to check out their credit card machine doesn't work so after they make you try 10 times they just ask if you have another form of payment. The cashiers and even the cashier manager are extremely rude during the whole process. As if it's our fault we are coming to spend hundreds of dollars every week and it's too much work for them to figure out the issue on their end because I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this. They don't say hello or thank you after the transaction so I'm wondering if anyone their was shown proper customer care or maybe they just don't care period is the problem. I know from past jobs in retail if the card doesn't work because the swipe machine is broke or their card is worn out they can manually enter it or swipe it on their end but not once in my last ten trips have they showed any want to help....what if all I had was one card one to use?
