Riley's on the Green is an indoor golf simulator in downtown Janesville, WI. Only open during the…read morewinter, this golf simulator is a great way to keep your golf swing loose while waiting for spring to arrive. ROTG is appointment only so you will have to call and book a tee time in order to play golf. (608)-756-4949 Prices: 18-Holes $25 per person, 9-Holes $12.50 per person. The staff does ask for anyone who makes an appointment to please be specific in regards to how many golfers will be joining you, it makes sense seeing as they base the next available tee time after you off of how many people will be with you. Food & Drinks: ROTG has an array of beers and liquor. All food is made by Riley's Sports Bar and Grill which is about a 100 yards down the street from ROTG. It's all very convenient, unlike at a non-virtual golf course, at ROTG you will never have to wait for the beverage cart to come to your hole and sell you drinks, The bar is located right behind the simulator. Golf Courses: At Riley's on the Green there are about 40 different courses to choose from. ie: Bay Hill, Firestone, Harbour Town, Kapalua, Torrey Pines, Cog Hill, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, St. Andrews, ect... Golfing: You can hit every club in your bag, there is a driving range to warm up on, you choose the course you would like to play. From driving to putting you can do it all. Overall it is a great experience, you can sit down, have a few beers, eat, and watch any sporting event on the large projection screen by the bar all while playing 18 holes at Pebble Beach with a few buddies. Definitely helps relieve that winter itch to go golfing.

I really like this course. It's a nice combination of woods, elevation change, and character. Also, watch for the correct green on #1 - as you come down the fairway, you'll see #16's green straight ahead, a little to the right, while #1's green is off to the left a bit. Don't be fooled! The course is kept up nicely. I was there early this spring - even after rainfall - and the course was in great shape. The fairways weren't chewed up yet, and the greens were healthy and sleek. I had a small issue last time out - not with the course, however. My son and I had a foursome roll up behind us on the 9th tee with poor etiquette (playing their radio loudly at the tee box while we were trying to tee off, among other things). At the turn, the folks in the clubhouse asked how our round was going and I mentioned that group. We weren't bothered for the rest of the round, so they seem to have handled it. Based on that, as well as how we were treated when we arrived, I would say the staff are great! Very friendly and they care that you enjoy your round properly. I really wish this course were closer to home - it's about an hour drive for me. But if I find the right deal, it's worth the drive.

Placing an approach shot in the right green level is a must to avoid 3 putts. Overall the golf course is beautiful and challenging. Our experience however was not very nice. As we are turning into the back 9 they decided to shotgun an outing right in front of us. They simply asked us to bypass 10 and play it after completing the round (more about this to come). We thought the outing was teeing off behind us, but to our surprise the outing was teeing off on 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. We were playing with the outing!. That was chaotic, and no ranger to be seeing. This created a slow play situation that turned dangerous as outing players started to loose their patience and kept hitting golf balls that landed way too close for comfort. The fact there was an outing scheduled was not mentioned when we called for a reservation, or when we arrived at the clubhouse. It was a "surprise" at the turn. Once we completed holes 11-18 there were two foursomes, one teeing off and another waiting on Hole 10. I truly wonder if anybody is coordinating golfers in the course and for sure customer service is deficient at best. When we finished they were courteous but did not try to remedy their mistake. We paid to play 18 holes, called for a reservation and they decided to put an large outing on top of us without telling us and offered no apologies or restitution for their mistake. We traveled far to play Glen Erin, and left with a bad impression. I will not travel to Glen Erin as their reservation system means nothing, and they don't care about customer experience. I wish I can give a better rating as the golf course has potential.
