The staff are…read morevery, very friendly and helpful, the Bloody Mary's at Greenie's (inside the clubhouse) are oh-so-tasty, and the food - oh, man, the food. For lunch, we had wonderfully tender turkey and freshly-sliced hot beef sandwiches - yum. Outstanding dinner: Homemade mac 'n cheese with bacon, medium rare sirloin, crab salad and bread pudding for dessert. I washed it down with a New Glarus Spotted Cow Wheat, a local favorite. 'Twas more-than-satisfying. Overall, I give the cause five stars and food four stars. As for the course, I give it a three. I don't consider myself a golf course connoisseur, but I was not overly impressed. (I never thought I'd say this about any course, but they need more sand traps.) Aside from the cause, it's a three-and-a-half, but for a course that supports a cause such as the McGMO, I've rounded it up. It's great to see the golf course and community get involved in such a great event. I will be returning.

You can tell they take pride in the condition of all aspects from greens, to fairways, and even the parts I have to hit from! The layout is entertaining. It's not your municipal back-and-forth layout. And the holes that do run along each other - those have decent separation (woods, wild grass) and space so you're not worried about an errant shot. When we were there, the greens were tough, but fair (not overly fast, but a good read was important). Some tee shots were tight - if you aren't an accurate driver, don't be afraid to hit something a little straighter (typing this is more of a reminder to me for next time - lol). Janesville is a bit of a drive for me, but it's totally worth it for this course - especially if you can find a deal (weekdays, evenings...) BONUS to be by the airport if you enjoy seeing aircraft taking off - anything from small commuter planes to military aircraft like the osprey and apache helicopters.

Placing an approach shot in the right green level is a must to avoid 3 putts. Overall the golf course is beautiful and challenging. Our experience however was not very nice. As we are turning into the back 9 they decided to shotgun an outing right in front of us. They simply asked us to bypass 10 and play it after completing the round (more about this to come). We thought the outing was teeing off behind us, but to our surprise the outing was teeing off on 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. We were playing with the outing!. That was chaotic, and no ranger to be seeing. This created a slow play situation that turned dangerous as outing players started to loose their patience and kept hitting golf balls that landed way too close for comfort. The fact there was an outing scheduled was not mentioned when we called for a reservation, or when we arrived at the clubhouse. It was a "surprise" at the turn. Once we completed holes 11-18 there were two foursomes, one teeing off and another waiting on Hole 10. I truly wonder if anybody is coordinating golfers in the course and for sure customer service is deficient at best. When we finished they were courteous but did not try to remedy their mistake. We paid to play 18 holes, called for a reservation and they decided to put an large outing on top of us without telling us and offered no apologies or restitution for their mistake. We traveled far to play Glen Erin, and left with a bad impression. I will not travel to Glen Erin as their reservation system means nothing, and they don't care about customer experience. I wish I can give a better rating as the golf course has potential.

This place is a little out of the way, but worth the drive. The food is quite good, better than you typically get with a place that is primarily a bar. Had a very authentic Chicago Dog with fries; the wife had a salad that had a variety of nice fresh greens and grilled chicken. Very affordable prices too-- dinner and drinks for two came to $31. The locals know this as a fun event space; there was a kids party going on downstairs when we arrived, complete with a bouncy house that was brought in. We will be back on our next visit to the area.

I've brought my son along in the past and he's starting to shoot now, too. The owner, Len Janis, is a former world trap shooting champion and incredibly friendly and helpful. This day, I had decided to only bring my 20 gauge, double barrel grouse gun. Bad choice. It was windy, and we were shooting into the wind. Short barrel, open chokes, shooting into the wind with light loads....not a good mix. Len cam eover and gave us some great pointers! We borrowed a 12 gauge competition gun and had a great time blasting boxes of shells and killing clay pigeons. Len was a GREAT help for my son, and actually sponsors a number of young shooters in the region. Can't say enough about this shooting range...just a friendly place to hang out, spend some time outside, and visit with friendly people while shooting trap. Cost? $5 per box of 25, bring your own shells. If you happen to be there while the assistants are there, don't forget the tip!

This was my first time tubing in a river!…read more This place is almost two hours from Milwaukee! There's no cell phone reception but you'll have a great time without it. Make sure you download music before you leave home, and bring a speaker to play it as you ride along the river. When you arrive, there's not a ton of parking. I would recommend parallel parking on the streets and NOT parking in the 2 hour spots- those indicate that they will tow. Once you park, you go in a small building a pay for tubes. I believe it's $20 per person and $10 per "cooler tube". In the pictures attached you can see both types of tubes. This place is cash only!! They also have dog tubes. Not sure how much they cost, but they are pink and don't have a hole in the bottom. If you can snag a dog tube I would totally recommend riding in that as the water can get cold, and all my friends said their butts were really cold in the water. One of my friends and I did not have that issue with the dog tube. So once you get tubes, your coolers are checked for glass bottles! They are not allowed. They'll hand you ties to rope all your group's tubes together. You can see what I mean in the photos attached. From there you go to the river and basically tie all the tubes together, get in, and float for 4-5 hours! I would absolutely recommend taking some types of paddles/oars as we often ended up floating towards the banks of the river and had to find ways to push ourselves out. There were a few places you could get out of the river along the way, but at the first stop my friend got out and ended up walking into a bee hive! Stung 5 times. There's no first aid on the river, so if something like this happens to you unfortunately you just have to deal with it. It might make sense to bring a first aid kit just in case! In total there are four "markers" along the river. The exit comes after the fourth marker. When you go under the bridge you know you're nearing the end. When it's time to exit the river, there are employees that instruct you to stand and exit the river, leaving the tubes and all coolers behind. They pull all the tubes in and pass the coolers to you. There are a few portable restrooms there but I didn't use them. We then boarded a school bus (image attached) that took us on a 7 minute ride back to the original ticket purchase building, and that's the end. Overall, I thought it was fun. I didn't like that I had to pay in cash and I also did not enjoy that we were told we'd float for 3.5 hours and ended up floating for almost 5!
