She often insists on using her family discount when I check in, though I've never expected it. Today, I mentioned it at the counter and the staff applied it without issue--until a man in the back of the shop, who turned out to be the head golf pro, made a snide comment along the lines of, "That's not going to happen again." When I asked what he meant, instead of explaining respectfully, he pulled out a rule book and made a point to tell me I'm technically not on the membership and wouldn't be getting the discount anymore. It wasn't just what he said--it was how he said it: dismissive, patronizing, and unnecessarily public. I've never been rude here, and I've spent plenty of money at this course over the years. The whole interaction left a bad taste in my mouth. Even stranger, after that exchange, my cart's GPS was suddenly disabled--something I couldn't help but notice. Add in the fact that there was trash on multiple holes and it's clear the experience, and the course itself, just isn't what it used to be. Lake lawn used to be a place I loved, I won't be going back anytime soon.

It's on a family resort so of course the caliber of player isn't going to be the same as at Geneva National, but that's also kind of the point. My buddies and I played 36 here this past weekend. It's a fairly easy course- but it's in excellent condition this year considering the COVID crisis and the # of people playing daily. We found the facilites great, the staff were exceptional, and the golf was really fun. The course is in outstanding condition- it's really well maintained. Yeah, the course can occasionally get backed up, but the girls driving the beer cart come around constantly. For like $55 for 18 with a cart, it's a good price. It's not Geneva National, but it's not supposed to be. I'll definitely play here again- and a huge hat tip to everyone working here- just the nicest, most hospitable group I've seen on a golf course in forever.

We used to vacation here multiple times a year in the 80's and 90's - this was our "go-to" spot for…read morelong weekends, family gatherings, etc. We decided to reunite our family, which is now spread out all over the country, at Abbey Springs for a nostalgic summer long-weekend getaway. FYI, we're not golfers either. Never swung a club on the course, but the family-friendly amenities and "life at the lake" environment attracted us back every time. What we liked/loved during our latest visit: The beautiful setting. The well-manicured grounds. The dining options (clubhouse food was great). The indoor and outdoor swimming options for the kids. The proximity to downtown Lake Geneva. Our rental condos were very nice. Nice pro-shop. Ice cream for kiddos at the Clubhouse. Beautiful wildlife - deer, turkeys, etc. What we didn't like: There's a strong sense of exclusivity and entitlement amongst the members and staff, and our group also felt an overall feeling of disdain towards us being renters. This was apparent in our interactions with several staff members and owners. Specifically - the older gentleman at the beach guardhouse who firmly enforced the parking regulations for renters ("go park by the clubhouse") and even suggested I drop off my toddler children (by themselves) at the beach and then go park. Other family members had unfortunate run-ins with him as well. Our children weren't allowed into the petting zoo at the beach. There was a large group of elderly women who had us removed from the snack shop because they "had the space reserved to play bridge." No signs on the tables. But our kids and family were forced into the restaurant to finish their lunches. Then... some of these women tried to come and take chairs (that we were using) from our table because there wasn't enough seating for them to play bridge, hurling some snarky comments at us along the way. We received a lot more cold glares pushing us out rather than warm smiles welcoming us in. Finally, and unfortunately, several members in our group commented on the extreme lack of diversity within this resort - primarily among the members. Also - look out for raccoons in the trash dumpsters at night! We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. Will we return? We'd consider it, but some of the aforementioned items may give us pause.

It is challenging with the greens were full of footprints and mud. The sand bunkers were not raked and some of the teeing grounds were very muddy. The course was recommended by a friend and there are two or three photo worthy holes. The fairways are tight and tree lined. It requires precise shots. The most positive was seeing a few deer and the carts had blue tooth. I'd recommend Geneva national or hawks view over abbey springs. Better value. Did I fail to mention the food service is mediocre.

Geneva National no longer cares about the residents or their families. Before we bought, we called…read morethe HOA and specifically asked about the amenities (pool) and what are the rules for our parents, kids, spouses, and grand babies. We were told it is a family environment, and they are welcome with no strings attached. On top she noted we could have 5 additional guests with no additional fee. The lady at the office reassured us that they are so much about family that most residents do not even leave Geneva National as there is so much for us and our families to do. We pay over 1100.00 a month in assessments! Plus, all the additional assessments and now the HOA states you can put 5 people on your list and the rest must pay if they want to come! So, they are asking us to choose between our parents, kids, spouses, and grand babies, who will make the list and who must pay!! And why? Their answer: "there are so many new/more residents and the pool would be out of capacity." I have called the HOA office twice now to escalate it to top management. The two women we spoke to said they would have Rick (Director) call us back. It has been two weeks, and no one has called us back. Why because they don't care! Our voice means nothing. Geneva National (the women we did talk to) has taken the position of making decisions on their own. They said we can go to the July 20th meeting if we want to discuss anything further. News flash, half the season is over by then! And we had no say. Geneva National is making all the decisions. Why not penalize the families and the elderly by telling them they must pay! There are many other beautiful places in the Lake Geneva area that welcome families without a price tag. Geneva National is: Buy here then we will change the rules as we go. Geneva National wants to nickel and dime you. This is extremely disappointing to say the least!

I made the booking back in December and was well aware that the event was weather dependent. Our reservations were from Feb 7-9. On Feb 5 I got a message that the winter realms was cancelled due to warm weather. No big deal, they mentioned right away that we would receive a refund. When I went to separately cancel the hotel stay, I was told that 'due to their strict cancellation policy' I would not receive my $200 deposit back. I replied that we were canceling due to the event, and if I'd known earlier I obviously would've cancelled earlier. They offered to move our reservation date, which didn't help or fit the circumstances since it was clear that there was no reopening date, so rescheduling was not a practical or helpful option. The response was unfriendly and they just stated "no refund" about 6 times. I did end up canceling the reservation and forfeiting the deposit because I was genuinely turned off by the resort. Overall, very disappointed with the customer service. They were unhelpful and apathetic. You would think that a resort that presents itself in the way that it does, and considering the amount of revenue they generate, they would be more professional. I understand the refund and cancellation policy (which is also ridiculous that they partnered themselves with an event that could be cancelled within a 2 day notice). I'm more so upset about the way it was handled by their 'guest services'. If you decide to stay here, I genuinely hope you don't need any help from guest services prior to your stay. You would get better value from a chain hotel.
