We used to vacation here multiple times a year in the 80's and 90's - this was our "go-to" spot for…read morelong weekends, family gatherings, etc. We decided to reunite our family, which is now spread out all over the country, at Abbey Springs for a nostalgic summer long-weekend getaway. FYI, we're not golfers either. Never swung a club on the course, but the family-friendly amenities and "life at the lake" environment attracted us back every time. What we liked/loved during our latest visit: The beautiful setting. The well-manicured grounds. The dining options (clubhouse food was great). The indoor and outdoor swimming options for the kids. The proximity to downtown Lake Geneva. Our rental condos were very nice. Nice pro-shop. Ice cream for kiddos at the Clubhouse. Beautiful wildlife - deer, turkeys, etc. What we didn't like: There's a strong sense of exclusivity and entitlement amongst the members and staff, and our group also felt an overall feeling of disdain towards us being renters. This was apparent in our interactions with several staff members and owners. Specifically - the older gentleman at the beach guardhouse who firmly enforced the parking regulations for renters ("go park by the clubhouse") and even suggested I drop off my toddler children (by themselves) at the beach and then go park. Other family members had unfortunate run-ins with him as well. Our children weren't allowed into the petting zoo at the beach. There was a large group of elderly women who had us removed from the snack shop because they "had the space reserved to play bridge." No signs on the tables. But our kids and family were forced into the restaurant to finish their lunches. Then... some of these women tried to come and take chairs (that we were using) from our table because there wasn't enough seating for them to play bridge, hurling some snarky comments at us along the way. We received a lot more cold glares pushing us out rather than warm smiles welcoming us in. Finally, and unfortunately, several members in our group commented on the extreme lack of diversity within this resort - primarily among the members. Also - look out for raccoons in the trash dumpsters at night! We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. Will we return? We'd consider it, but some of the aforementioned items may give us pause.

The green fees are among the best you will find anywhere. This is an intermediate type of course so if you are a hacker like myself you can still have a great time. The bar menu was undergoing a revamp so the only items available were a hot dog, brat and burger. I did try the burger and it was a good fresh homemade one. I would definitely recommend this place to any golfer of any skill. However I would bet that if you are one of the many golf snobs out there you will find something to bitch about as you would with any place. Loosen your undies and go live!

But she could "book me at 2:05 with a two-some. Her tone was rude and uninviting. Considering they had 2 back to back tee times open with 4 available players she could have booked me. I understand this business model in the middle of summer, but in the fall after kids are back in school and day of it shouldn't be an issue. While it looks like a nice course, I probably will not visit it due to the customer service. Additionally if they do not want singles they should only advertise 2-4 players on those tee times.

We booked two nights at this resort and paid over $500 per night! At that price I was expecting a…read morefabulous room complete with toiletries dressing, gowns, slippers, and the works. NOT SO !!! the room was a basic standard room. The walls were so thin. We could hear everything the people in the next room weee saying . There were no toiletries. There were no dressing gowns . There wasn't even a safe in the room, which was absolutely astonishing . We were near an exit door that led to the parking spot and the trash was overflowing for the full duration of our stay . We tried to get our TV to link up to our Netflix account which in itself was quite a process Maintenance had to come out and try and help us with it. 20 minutes later we were told it was not functioning . Granres when we spoke to management, they did give us credit for the resort fee . Overall a pretty bad experience for the price we paid.
