Far and away my favorite shop anywhere!…read more I've bought two rods/reels (Orvis and Abel both...hard to go wrong with that combo!), also a more budget friendly Orvis reel for a spare rod of mine (Nick recommended to go lower end on the reel...didn't try to push me into something too expensive as he knew my goal), and endless amounts of other items. Nick and the staff are awesome at listening to you and setting you up with the right stuff! It's refreshing to go to a shop and have someone not try to push you into something expensive, but instead explain it all and give you ALL the options, no-prejudgement at this shop. With that said my two rods (Helios F and Superfine), were not cheap, but are amazing! And also exactly as described by Nick. He couldn't have done a better job of educating me and setting me up! My relaxation time is on the river and I know Nick and the staff at Mountain Fly Shop have my back, understand how little time I have in my life to enjoy it, and they take care of me so well that I never have to worry whether or not I'm going to enjoy that time. The best in Fort Collins no doubt!!!

Was super unfriendly and when I said I was looking for a bathroom she answered with tons of attitude saying there's no bathrooms open. I cannot recommend shopping here. It's poor service and you'd be better off just finding their stuff for cheaper on Amazon.

I stopped into Sierra in Fort Collins and it's a really interesting alternative to stores like REI…read moreor Dick's Sporting Goods. The big difference is that Sierra works on an off-price model, similar to TJ Maxx, which means they buy overstock and past-season gear from major outdoor brands and sell it at significant discounts. Because of that, you can sometimes find the same brands you'd see at REI such as The North Face, Smartwool, Fjällräven, Carhartt, and other outdoor favorites, but at much lower prices. The inventory changes constantly, so the store has more of a "treasure hunt" feeling rather than the predictable layout you get at traditional sporting goods stores. Fort Collins is the perfect place for a store like this since the whole town revolves around hiking, running, skiing, and outdoor life, and Sierra offers a great way to find quality gear without paying full retail.

Walking into Runners Roost in Fort Collins feels like stepping into a true Colorado running…read moreinstitution. This isn't a generic big-box sporting goods store. Runners Roost has been part of the Colorado running culture since 1977, when the first location opened in Colorado Springs. Over the years it has grown carefully to about ten locations across the Front Range, while still keeping that independent, community-driven feel. The Fort Collins store absolutely carries that spirit. Even though I didn't end up buying shoes this time, I really enjoyed the energy and vibe of the shop. It's welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly built around people who actually run and understand the sport. They also carry a serious lineup of brands. You'll find running staples like HOKA, Brooks, Saucony, ASICS, New Balance, Altra, and On, along with apparel and gear designed specifically for runners and endurance athletes. What stood out to me most was the variety. Whether you're a serious marathon runner, a trail runner, or someone who just wants a comfortable pair of walking shoes, there are plenty of options to explore. Fort Collins has a lot of great shops in Old Town, but places with nearly 50 years of running heritage are rare. Runners Roost is one of them. Definitely worth stopping in if you care about running, walking, or just want to browse a store that actually knows its craft.

I wanna give a very special shout-out to Devo Mireles (Baseball/Softball Manager - 117898). Our daughters both just started competitive travel ball/club teams as opposed to just rec fastpitch softball. We went in looking for a bat that we could afford and that would be durable, and the perfect fit for each of our girl's swing styles. He introduced us to all the bats in stock and let us know that they do have a demo bat program to help with our budget for all the other gear we need! Competive level softball gear adds up quick! Devo took his time and made my girls feel confident in each bat they selected in a doable budget for us. Based on my description of needs, he helped me pick out two handfuls of bats for each girl to go try in the batting cage. He was so patient, and kind! He didn't just sell us bats, he gave my girls very valuable feedback on their batting stances, aim, and body mechanics while swinging. Because of Devo the girls were not nervous to keep trying the bats and didn't get bored with the process. He helped them each find different bats in the perfect sizes and weights for each of them! They also left with some free pointers that will be very helpful this season and educated us parent's, as well. Thank you Devo, you're the man to lead that department for sure.! We will be back to see you, I am sure of it. P.s: Give Devo a raise haha -Jess Case and Jason Case from cheyenne, Wy.
