Dicks has a terrible customer service policy that will not allow shoe returns if they have been worn outside. I bought a pair of Nike running shoes after trying them on inside the store, went home, wore them immediately and found them to be uncomfortably narrow. I took them back for an exchange and was told no chance. No one mentioned any of this when purchasing the shoes. The manager was absolutely useless and unhelpful, telling me that maybe Nike will take them back. They won't. Dicks is the worst store and has the worst customer service I've seen in a long time. I am done giving Dicks my business and will go far out of my way to find small sporting stores to shop. Good riddance. read more

What a crappy, crappy store. Went in to find a set of golf clubs for my grandson and it took a good ten minutes to find ANY help on the store floor. Finally snagged someone who told me 'I don't know anything about the golf stuff and we are between golf reps in here so the other guy coming on in about an hour'.So we kill an hour, the golf guy shows up, says we need an appointment to get fitted. Told him we weren't there to do that; just wanted to get the grandson a set of kids clubs; a small selection on the floor. We asked him what he would recommend and he said something go the effect if 'I don't know'. So f***ing helpful. Dick's went DEI years ago by getting rid of selling guns. I purchased an expensive and large piece of exercise equipment that I found to be defective after setting it up. The manufacture sent a service person to repair it, which was not to my satisfaction. The item was still not operating properly. After speaking to Brandon, the store manager at Columbia Dicks, Brandon assured me I would not be stuck with damaged goods, that Dicks guarantees that their merchandise is not defective, even if it is costly to remove, replace and re-install. I really appreciate that Brandon and Dicks made sure this was done to my satisfaction. read more

Ordered an item and they said it was in stock and to be delivered in 10 days! Ten days came and we got notice they cancelled our order, the item was out of stock. 5 will get you 10 it was out of stocks when we placed the order, they were just betting it would come in....and it didn't. Their solution was for me to reorder hof course waiting another 10 for a negative response. No thank you Dicks, there are too many other places to shop! read more

In general I've had good experiences at Dick's Sporting Goods. However, shopping there this time was a poor experience. I couldn't find any associates to help me in the shoe section. I waited for about 5-10 mins; still no one showed up to help me buy shoes from them?? In the end the associate that helped me was nice and helpful. I don't understand not having a person assigned to the shoe area. All the shoes are in the back of the store. Soooo? This situation is not an employee issue. It's either a process issue, a manager issue, or weak communication to the Dick's employees regarding job duties. I know they'll get it fixed and my next visit will be better. read more

This is your standard Dick's Sporting Goods store. The pros: it is located in shopping center near lots of other stores (PetSmart, Five Guys, Macy's, Dillard's Barnes and Noble, Sears, Macaroni Grill, Best Buy--just to name a few). It is close to the I-70, too. The cons: VERY crowded on Stadium, can be tough to get in and out. read more

Do not shop at this Dick's location. I have spent thousands of dollars at the Independence Dick's. They have good customer relations. I went to this Dick's twice to find shoes. They had no one in the Shoe Department. The first time I left without getting any help. I could not find any employees in that half of the store. The second time I returned for shoes the same issue was going on. I buzzed for an employee. He eventually showed up. He helped some cute girls and left. He did not look around and was gone before I could catch him. I spoke with manager. I was not offered an apology or explanation. There was no offer to help or call someone back to that section.He had next to nothing to say and just stared at me. Bought some Adidas sports socks for my husband, which were marked with a sign buy one get one 50% off. At checkout, the socks rang up without the discount, and it took several minutes to do a price check. The sign had been expired, but was left up. They did honor the sale price, which I appreciated. However, I also purchased a Jansport backpack that was marked on sale for $38.98 and I was charged $65. Had to go back in the store a second time, and the backpacks were also misleading and mismarked, and apparently was not applicable to the PRINTED Jansport backpack I had chosen hanging with the others on sale. I promptly returned it, and will likely not visit this location again. They clearly don't have their organization or sale prices clearly marked for customers, and it was a huge hassle. They have a great selection and you'll find most anything you need, from moisture wicking running shirts to soccer equipment. It's all good quality, too, but the price tag is often quite high. That's really my biggest complaint, because there aren't many stores like this in the area, which is likely why they can be so pricey. read more

I have shopped at Dicks as long as they have been in COlumbia and I have always had a very hard time finding a employee to help me with my purchases! Do they not have any employees besides at the cash registers? The times that I did find someone to help me with shoes in the shoe department they brought me the sizes I asked for and then disappeared again. VERY frustrating to try and find something when the store is not what I would call 'organized'. Everything is kinda pricey but that's what you get when you shop at a store with certain brand names. read more

I have not seen a brick and morter store give a selection of good brand swim fins, and equipment. It is as specific as biking, and with the year round swimming in columbia and jefferson city, we HAVE to go online to get a good selection. read more

Beware! Beware of slick Dicks. The price you see online may not be what is charged to your credit card. Do check your statements carefully. Buy $100 get $20 off...yea good luck with that one. Ha. Ha. Need to return an order...well good luck again with that. It will only take a cashier, another cashier and a manager and they still will not be able to make sense of their online order mess. What a disaster. Buyer Beware. I ordered and received a pair of shoes, an online order, they sent me two different styles of high-top, basketball shoes, same size at least. Would not accept return, they could not find the order #, they said not to worry it had not been charged to my credit card. Guess what? They did charge me. Check your statements.
