Do NOT take your high end expensive items here!!! I'm a big supporter of local businesses, and never take out bad reviews because, let's face it, most business blunders are relatively minor. But when my brand new pair of $750 Christian Louboutin's, that I have been coveting for my entire life and could now (at 42 years old) finally afford my first pair, get botched up, then I feel a moral obligation to save others from the same heartbreak. I brought him these gorgeous patent stilettos because I called him first, asking if he can do protective soles on Louboutins and his answer was a solid, unqualified yes. His reviews were also excellent. So why on earth would I question his ability to accomplish the stated objective? The material he showed me was the right color red. He has an in-office dog. All looked to be on the up and up. Today I pick up the calamity that used to be a designer shoe with resale value. The rather thick plastic sole that he attached partially covers up the Louboutin logo on both shoes, it is so thick that it has a visible line and obvious profile when viewing the shoe from behind or the side, there is visible glue, and there is black gum on the patent upper. Pic for show. Normally I would say, "hey, no one really looks at the soles." But these shoes are completely INTENDED for the soles to be looked at. The gorgeous sleek red bottom silhouette is completely mucked up. And WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COVERS UP THE LOUBOUTIN LOGO ON A PAIR OF LOUBOUTINS!!! And now, I can never resell them when I'm tired of them and ready for a new pair, as was the intention with the protective soles. I called him and he explained that the protective rubber had to be put that high up on the shoe, or else it would fall off because the shoe will bend and crease at the end of the flat bottom. NOT SO. Who walks in Louboutin's so much that they crease the stiletto??? These are special occasion shoes and not built for comfort. No one really wears them that much. These are look hot and get dropped off at the door shoes. I've also since viewed dozens upon dozens of pictures of the soles done the right way and none of them go past the flat part of the shoe, appropriately protecting the red bottom logo and silhouette. Clearly, he is NOT experienced in Louboutin repair as he claimed to be. I'm sorry Dick's Shoe Repair, but this is not over. I have contacted experts who agree this was done poorly and it will cost me $150 to get it repaired IN L.A., and they say it will still never look quite right. My Louboutin logos will be partially gone forever. My only decision is whether to ask you to pay for the repair or the shoe in its entirety. I'll accept my portion of the fault...I should have asked more questions about your experience with and plans for my shoes. If I wasn't so angry, I would cry. Edit: I contacted Dick's owner again who was a complete jerk about this. Denied any poor workmanship and said it was my fault because I should have told him that I was "so particular." Correction, dear sir, you should have told me you only offered basic services and the soles would be completely noticeable and there would be marred spots and glue everywhere. You should have told me you could not offer adequate work on my brand new never worn Louboutin's and I would have gladly gone elsewhere. Instead, you unabashedly claimed to be able to handle this. I have to sue this guy now. Fun times. read more

The work performed was pretty good, my only disappointment is that the adhesive ended up getting onto the actual shoe , so I felt a little more attention to detail should have been taken, to avoid this or correct it. read more

I dropped off a vintage leather purse that needed the strap attached to a metal piece and they did a fantastic job. I also had a newer bag whose zipper wasn't working. Both items are good as new! Always friendly and helpful. read more

My sandals are ruined and were one of the two pairs of shoes that I could wear because of illness and swelling in my feet and ankles that will never go away. My son showed the man photos of my sandals on his phone when he left them 14 days ago before leaving them to be repaired. Fourteen days later, my son paid for the repair to the back straps of my sandals and brought them home. The negligent repair did not put the length back, which was a brown elasticized fabric, making the sandals two sizes smaller, so unwearable. My son returned to the business a few hours later to have the sandals repaired correctly and to show the man the photos of my sandals again. This small repair took 14 days. My son was polite in his communication with the man and showed him the photos again of the brown elasticized fabric which was over an inch long. The man refused to fix his negligent work. I was on talking to my son on speaker phone and said, "he screwed up my sandals and needs to fix them." He told my son to leave the shop or he would call the police, so my son left and remained polite throughout the incident. The man refused to fix his negligent repair and has ruined my sandals. Photos don't lie. Do not go to this shop. I give this person and his business a zero rating, but it forces me to click one star. read more
