Outstanding fried chicken. Crispy, crunchy skin, seasoned just right, meaty, moist and super hot (temperature) with no greasiness whatsoever. If you love fried chicken, this is the place to go... it's the real deal. IMO, Dick's is one of the BEST FRIED CHICKEN places in all of Arizona. If you are looking for a cheap fast food experience like KFC or Popeye's, this place is not for you. Note this is a VERY small place, and it is absolutely NOT a fancy place, but has cool genuine local vibe. They only have 3 tables. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you or hand to you for take out. Also - they make your meal to order, so be prepared to wait while they cook the chicken. The potato wedges are also very good, and I don't know if they make their own ketchup for the fries, but it is excellent too. The staff are the owners here and are very friendly. Rate 5 stars b/c of the food, but the physical restaurant I'd give 2 stars due to so few tables, outside restrooms, etc. Highly recommend if you especially love fried chicken. read more

It's been a good while since I was in the area so I had to stop for some bird. Sadly my chicken was jerky. Way overcooked. At least five minutes too much. The broasted chicken is a hard get to begin with so when I found out I had to drive thru the area I was really looking forward to this. I've had it a half dozen times before and it was spot on. This place is beyond a hole in the wall. The tiny restaurant only has three picnic tables inside and two stools with a small counter. I was skeptical, but saw the reviews and decided to try this place. The service was great, prompt refills. I ordered the chicken and shrimp meal. Everything tasted fresh and hot. The chicken had a satisfying crunch, juicy on the inside and tasted perfectly brined. The coleslaw' was fresh and the shrimp hot and crispy. Oddly, along with chicken, people were ordering hamburgers saying Dick's had the best burgers. It may be hard to pass up the chicken, but maybe next time I'll try their burger. The chicken and coleslaw were excellent. Real honey (No corn syrup) was provided to use on the rolls and chicken. Good-sized portion of potato wedges were included with the dinner. The potatoes were okay, but could use some more flavor or spices. The young man who took my order was very friendly and professional. Overall a great experience! I had a fantastic three-piece meal here. Not only was the chicken made to order, it came with an amazing coleslaw and wedge fried potatoes. I recommend asking for the devil sauce, which makes your chicken taste like buffalo wings. It's got kick tho. If I am being honest I thought my husband lost his mind when he told me he wanted to stop here for chicken. From the outside I was super skeptical to try it, however, once you walk in it is super quaint and very clean. We ordered a bucket of chicken meal with potatoes. I would say the potatoes need some seasoning or salt but the chicken was PERFECT! Super flavorful all the way through not just the skin. We heated the leftovers in the air fryer over the next couple days and it never disappointed. The service was wonderful and super friendly. We drove from Tempe to give this place a try. Not only is it a pretty drive, the food was all we dreamt it could be. Broasted chicken is the juiciest chicken, and they proved it again. OK I confess, I have been coming to Dick's Broasted since the early 70's when I was a kid. It was good then. As the years past, i have eaten fried chicken across the country, East Coast, Southern States, West Coast, and all good. But if you're in AZ and don't want to drive to Los Angeles for Rosco's or Mama's in Louisiana, Dick's is your place. It really does not get any better than this. Take the drive on U.S. 60, see the sights, eat some chicken, you will not regret it. Downside? Its an old school business, open for lunch and dinner but closes at 6pm M-F, And Closed on Sat and Sunday. And FYI closed for vacation 9/14-28/2015. Sorry, I had mine tonight!
