I love the marinated chicken breast at Dickies, I live in Downey so we have always picked up a pound or 2 at the Apollo location and it has always been served without any bbq sauce on it and it is descripted as marinated. But for some reason on they were closed so my daughter drove to the Whittier location and placed her order for 1 lb of the sliced kitchen breast - they said something about bbq sauce and they told him no sauce. When she brought it home I opened up the container and it looked like it had bbq sauce on it which I don't eat as I do keto diet and it. I only get the bbq pulled pork sandwich when i come here, but its always delicious and the staff is always so friendly. The pulled pork definitely needs more bbq sauce though so I always ask for 2 extra sauces. Last time i also tried their baked potato casserole and it was really good, basically like a loaded mashed potatoes. The side was a little small though, not enough to share. I feel like dickeys is more like a fast food bbq place, so it doesn't compete with real top-notch bbq restaurants, but its good for what it is. They don't honor corporate sent email promotions and will just cancel your order. That's not enough. After order is cancelled you don't get cancellation email to prove that the order is cancelled. Then you have to go back to your credit card to dispute it. Very shady business practice at this particular location. I never had issues like this in other Dickey's. Small, narrow spot with limited indoor seating and nothing outdoors. They have a few TVS and music playing...might be a better place to get it to-go. Our group of 7 ate there and my part of the table was not level and wobbly. Food- we ordered the XL Family Pack for $66...you only save $4 if you were to order it all separately. It consists of 3 choices of meat a pound each and 4 medium sides and no drinks. When we saw how small 3lbs. of meat looked like and how small the sides are we added a rack of ribs $27 and surprisingly it doesn't come with any sides which I think is the case at Lucille's. The meats we chose were pulled pork, beef brisket, and chicken which were all good. They have a self serve sauce bar with 3 choices- original, sweet, and spicy. The sides we chose were potato salad, green beans, waffle fries, and jalapeño beans...the best were the green beans and fries. I used the app to order a free sandwich on Wednesday and Thursday and I planned to pick both of them Thursday's after work. The staff from Dickey's called me Thursday's afternoon saying I could not pick up 2 sandwiches, only 1 sandwich per person per day. Why do a restaurant staff call the customer at 3pm to ask about an order to be pickup at 5:30pm? I arrived at 5:45 pm and they haven't even started my order. The food was great as usual, no complaints with the quality, portions or taste. However, the way this location was being operated under the manager at that moment (Jim) was horrendous. We arrived at 1:05pm to pick up our order that we scheduled for a 1:00pm pick up on Father's Day to be told it should be ready it 5-10 minutes. No problem at all, that seems pretty normal/acceptable for bagging things up in the midst of the other work you have going on. We were the only people waiting for a pick up order at the time of arrival and after seeing numerous other parties come in and wait their 5-10 minutes and leave with food it became discouraging. Once again we pressed them for an answer, 5-10 minutes. His organizational skills of trying to bag the correct food with the correct orders made for quiet the scene and you could tell he was overwhelmed. I applaud the two cooks who were chopping and prepping orders for showing genuine concern that we hadn't received our order and eventually they shared that they were pretty sure he gave our order away to the wrong person. 30 minutes later a different associate came out from behind the counter and asked what we were waiting on and we went over it again. They couldn't find our order because it was already closed out. 45 minutes after arrival a couple comes back with a bag a food that turned out not to be theirs. Jim quickly got them a new order and thinking I wasn't paying attention tried to pawn off that food they brought back to us (since it was our order). I'm not sure in what food service environment would food that left your store 45-60 minutes earlier with another customer be acceptable to then turn around and give out. I'm sorry know one has any idea in this day and age if the other people had tried/tampered with the food, let alone it was obviously not fresh at the point. So yes I demanded fresh food and then began asking who the manager and owner are. The "would you like a cookie" offer was like icing on the cake at this point. Kevin Vuu, I really hope your establishment understands all the food and safety health practices. Best barbecue in town! Me and my husband love this place! The portions are big! We got the recent deal they have it's two plates for 22$ it comes with two choices of meat on each plate and two sides! Which to us was four lol since we ate off each other's plates. We already know this paces has good food so that's why we weren't afraid to splurge on the food. Anything you eat here it's good! The beers are $2.50 and they have free ice cream (soft serve in a cone) for you to grab. The menu is not at all complicated . You choose your meat , and then your sides and your done! I was about to eat somewhere else which the location and service was not at all great. Didn't regret walking out and driving an extra 20 min to come here.
