I have been craving bbq for a while - so happy we tried Dickey's because it was So Good! I've had NC, GA, FL, but not "TX" style bbq. Glad to have added it to the list. I ordered the Westerner Plate (2 meat sandwich on Texas bread) with two sides. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork for my meat combo (at the recommendation of an employee) and the meat was so moist and flavorful. I creamed spinach and bbq baked beans for my sides. I haven't had southern creamed spinach in years, and let me tell you it was VERY creamy (so tasty). The bbq baked beans were a smidge spicy (which is a bonus for me), and very flavorful. There are three bbq sauce options: sweet, spicy, and original. I got spicy and original and combined them on my sandwich. Definitely didn't need a lot because the meat had its own flavor and was moist (as was the bread - not dry or too crunchy, just right). We came for some lunch since we had an hour and a half before our next baseball tournament game. The owner was super down to earth guy and his employee was nice. I had brisket on Mac and cheese which is not on the menu any longer but he still did it for us. We had half a slab of ribs and a jalapeño sausage. The sweet tea was amazing as well. The atmosphere is a little hard to judge with tables all stacked up and carry out only available. So atmosphere will not be part of rating. I ordered the e meat plate with pulled pork, turkey, cheddar jalapeno kielbasa, barbecue beans, and baked potato casserole. The pulled pork was very good, just a tad dry. The turkey and kielbasa were excellent. The beans were good, but nothing special, they need something. The baked potato casserole was ehh, very forgettable. I got the sweet BBQ sauce, while very thin it was excellent. Much much better than most places. Lastly the roll that came with it was also excellent. Also the portion sizes were gererous. I was with my Aunt and she got the chicken slider and brisket slider. She stated they were both generously sized and amazingly good, especially with the sweet BBQ sauce. She also got waffle fries and they were good also. The service was slammed, but the 2 guys working took it in stride and were very polite and upbeat. Overall a 4 star review. Placed an online order and was told upon arrival that they are out of all meats except sausage. In no way was this mentioned online-- and as a former employee at many restaurants I understand that not updating websites when items are out of stock is due to laziness/negligence. It also appeared that employees were trying to close up shop early, as all chairs were stacked up/floors were being mopped an hour before close time. All around a huge inconvenience that ultimately wasted 30 minutes of my time driving out of my way to be informed they are out of everything and treated rudely while doing so. From what I saw, I don't even know if that is true, everyone just seemed like they wanted to go home and were trying to close. During this time I saw multiple cars come in and immediately turn around and leave. I know I was not the only one leaving frustrated tonight. Incredible waste of $ 28.00+ We ordered Pulled Pork sandwich and Giant Baker Potatoe with Brisket. Being the only people in the restaurant should have been a clue. It was hard to communicate what we wanted with the crashing overhead music. Felt like I was imposing on the 4 staff members while they were in the back eating. Food was on the cold side off lukewarm. I brough the food back and asked to have it microwaved. They do not have a microwave and basically brushed me off. I asked for (2) take out boxes so we could go home and heat the remains of the food. My first impressions: Parking lot was cramped and the parking was a bit awkward (it's on a corner lot) - just a congested situation. Upon entering the restaurant, the menu appears to be on television sets that you can read over while in line - if you're at the right angle. We were welcomed by the man behind the corner and waited while he finished making another sandwich order. It would help to have signage that says "order here" or something - it wasn't clear if you ordered there or at the register. Pricing: Average for type of bbq joint that it is. I was happy that I had seen online a $3 pulled pork sandwich special as there was no signage inside indicating it. I also downloaded the app and got my drink for free - that was a bonus! The sides were about $2.25 so ehhh. Food: The pulled pork was okay - it wasn't seasoned much and it didn't have the smoky pieces one would expect; but it was also not dry which was super appreciated. The green beans were Italian style so I was excited about that but then was not thrilled with the amount of pepper and mushy onions inside. For being a bbq place, they only had 3 sauces which was surprising-- spicy, original and sweet. I only liked the original - the sweet tasted like brown sugar in liquid form and the spicy tasted like the sweet with some spice thrown in. One of the biggest let downs was that there didn't appear to be any lemonade (outside of the fountain that I ended up settling for), and I assumed there would be as they have it available to order by the gallon online. Overall, the food didn't leave me wanting more, the parking wasn't ideal and I feel like there are much better places to get bbq in the area. In addition I was charged $1 for a small serving of ranch, even though you can buy the same thing on their extras menu for $0.49. Brisket and ribs are good, but one of the people in my group ordered the brisket chili cheese fries, which resembled hot baby food on French fries. The brisket was nothing like brisket - it was like pulled pork that had already been chewed. My dinner companion brought it to the attention of the manager who said "that's how we make it. I don't know what you want me to do about it." I don't know what it is about this place but I'm always excited when we decide to have dinner there, especially later in the evening. The atmosphere is always upbeat and the staff is amazing! It was a nice sized portion but the potato tasted as if it was more than 48 hours old and was really soggy. It was a good sized portion, but nothing to get really excited about. The restaurant was clean and well designed from what I saw, but we took our order to go. Crew was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the two meat meals and tried different meats. The chicken, brisket and pulled pork were all good, but not our favorite item. The sausage, however, was excellent. We would recommend giving it a try. The side options were sufficiently varied for a barbecue place, but the beans really were the best out of the sides we tried. We went here a few months back for the first time. We still had about 30 minutes until close, but ALL of the employees acted super annoyed that we were there ordering food. They kept getting our order incorrect since they were trying to rush to get everything done before closing. I really wanted to like this place. First couple times I ordered the food was great, then my next couple experiences were horrible. Missing food in my deliveries, or not even the right food. Decided to take a break and hope things were different a few months later. Decided to try it again, place a order for delivery...get delivery notification. Then out of the blue, I get a message saying "your order has been cancelled ,contact the store". So I call, no one answers. Call again, phones shut off. So I go directly to the store and see all the employees getting into their cars an hour before closing. I contacted corporate first before writing this review to give them a chance to make it right, it's been 2 weeks and I have not received a reply. It appears it's not just the store that's poorly ran, the entire franchise is. For what the food costs, excellent service and accuracy should be the standard. As a whole I am a big fan of Dickey's and I was thrilled when I heard they were coming to Jenisonville (Jenison & Hudsonville). We ate there earlier this month (December) and I will never go there again in the winter. It was so cold that we froze and our food got cold before we could finish it. For starters, we were super excited to try this place. Went online to order some traditional chicken wings for delivery. Paid $15 delivery fee. Our order was just pending in the queue forever. Called them up, they don't deliver. They also "don't have very many traditional wings" so we had to order boneless. THEN, we decided to go back another day and order their BBQ. We got the burnt ends with bbq sauce, macaroni, and baked beans. The burnt ends were so well done, they were practically beef jerky. The bbq sauce tasted like 100% vinegar.
