Been here a couple times in the last few years. Staff are very friendly and service is pretty good. Food is above par for a chain restaurant. The restaurant is very clean, with great decor and it looks like a huge place. Good place for your next party or social gathering. :) Food was decent. They were out of some sides. We just had our "Class of 1975" 50th Reunion in our hometown, "Indy" --Independence, KS! Marc, the owner, drove from Arizona with two friends to be there and make sure our evening was Perfect! Soooooo, went in after driving two and a hal hours to look at real estate! First off I had to turn around and holler at Carlos, my Weimaraner/lab mix, that he is ok and I would be right out. I ordered a 1/2 pound of pulled pork for Carlos and a grilled chicken breast sandwich for myself! So adorable, the girls wrote "Carlos" on the pulled pork container. The bbq sauce was one of the best I have had here! Slaps in Kansas city, Ks is my next travel bbq place. It was recommended to me by some locals I met! read more

Some days it's good, but mostly it's a disappointment. They are rude behind the counter, not helpful, and their bread (rolls and sandwich bread) is dry and hard. They run out of potatoes so quickly, too. The meat is usually pretty good and their side aren't bad! The building is gorgeous!! And a nice place to have banquets or small gatherings up stairs Over all, I wish they would work on the PR and a few food issues and it would be amazing!! read more

The food might have been good. We don't know. We left before ordering. Ed had tried in a long time due to the continual problem if no okra. Always out. Tonight we had hope. After carefully studying the menu I decided on a baked potato with brisket and okra. The order taker started by ousting all the items they were out of: baked potatoes, okra, and four other things I forgot. Is there a potato / okra shortage??? Might as well shop for a car. read more

Like a previous review, I felt like I was a burden on the staff because I walked in. I was asked if I wanted a drink and said I'd get it from the bar. There were people sitting at the bar with drinks, so great. I like a beer with my bbq. After no service and the employees just staring at me as they walked by, I finally went to the counter and asked where the bartender was. "We don't have one". Was the reply. Well, where did the people sitting at the bar get their drinks from? The reply was some mumbled BS. I then realized those people were locals. And appeared to be friends of the staff. So I just said screw it and sat down to eat. The pulled pork was more like pork jerky. I couldn't even eat it since e it was like chewing on a piece of leather. I threw it in the trash and just ate coleslaw. The only good thing about the experience was the live singer was pretty good. Awesome awesome! We are staying at home for Covid-19 but wanted to support our local restaurant and eat some bbq. We had never been to a Dickies before. We ordered a 2 meat plate and a westerner sandwich. The original sauce is to die for. They brought it out to my car. I only wish they had on a mask for the exchange. But the food is wonderful and we can't wait to eat in when the pandemic is over. read more

Dickey's BBQ is pretty good stuff. Decorated nice and it was very clean. Food is delicious. We had brisket and kielbasa sandwiches. Very tender brisket and it was real kielbasa. I needed to cater a surprise birthday party for around 25-30 people and Dickey's bbq came through! Their food was delicious and came with all the plates and utensils needed. We had three meats, pulled pork, chicken breast and brisket, Mac and cheese, coleslaw and potato salad. The buns they give you are so buttery and good they flew off the table. Had company in from out of town and took them to Dickeys in Independence. The building is fantastic and very clean. But from there it goes downhill. The staff behind the counter seemed like we were an inconvenience to them. Very lackadaisical and unmotivated. We got our order and sat down to eat. More than one person in our party commented on the dryness of the brisket. Personally I had the Pit dip sandwich. To start off I opened the sandwich and it looked like the almost forgot to put the meat on. The single slice of brisket didn't even come close to covering the bun. The "ajou" was greasy and very bland nothing like you'd expect from a bbq joint. The creamed spinach was excellent. UPDATE: Considering how long it's been since I posted this review and the similar one I put on their Facebook page, I went through my emails to find if anyone had at least responded to my email when I reported the issue. Silence. They'd had more than ample time to read my reviews and the email I sent in so they could address and remedy the problem but had chosen to ignore it so I went back through the online order history on my app. I discovered two more drinks (one Sprite and one iced tea) that they'd also charged me double for without any explanation so I called the Dickey's corporate office in Texas and reported this branch. The lady I spoke with there was appalled at my experience and when I told her that their excuse to my wife was that "we charge double for online drink orders to cover the cost of deliveries" she replied, "Oh no they don't!!" The oldest overcharge I can find in my past orders was four and a half months ago and so this is a dishonest practice they've been doing for a long time. Every person who's ever ordered online from this Dickey's location needs to go through their order histories immediately. Every time you see where they charged you $5 for a Big Yellow Cup, you have physical proof that they've stolen $2.50 from you. You need to contact corporate immediately at (972) 248-9899 and tell them to add your name to my complaint from September 22nd. They will ensure that you get a refund because they don't want the restaurant to have a class action lawsuit on its hands. read more

Bun and meat was cold on both our sandwiches. My brisket sandwich had globs of fat. They were out of lids for small cups that was the case the last time we were in. Also out of cones for ice cream. Seams to be a poorly managed location. We won't be back for a long time. read more

We ordered the two plate deal, and were heavily disappointed in many aspects. Firstly, we were called after our 15 timeline for our order to be ready, and was told they are out of turkey. So after another 15 minutes we picked up our order, and were told to wait again because our waffle fries were not cooked yet. Then after driving back to our hotel we came to find out they had not given us napkins or forks to eat the mac n cheese and salad with (which by the way was more chewy croutons then lettuce, strongly unrecommended). Too top off our experience both of our sliced brisket was overcooked and hard to eat, the only good thing was the chicken. Perhaps we got an unlucky experience, but I figured my review could hopefully save someone from a less than mediocre experience. read more
