In the good 'ol days, a Dick Smith's store used to be bulging with interesting gadgets and hard to find things, staffed by people interested in what they sold.
The rot started when it was bought by Woolworths (they have since sold it on). Now they are staffed by retail hacks who are not interested in helping, don't really know the stock. There is something about the stores I now find frustrating, and the Ingle Farm one is no exception. Walk in and the staff run like you have ebola, only to emerge when they hear the credit card sliding from your wallet, and the store doesn't seem the carry the full range of anything.
If you do manage to buy anything there it is very expensive. You want Uncle Jamie's advice? Buy over the Internet. There are now plenty of Aussie companies offering the same stock at a better price online. I only go there now if I am desperate to get something on the same day. read more
