Bigger location than the previous store that was located across from the mall. This location is adjacent to the mall and is two levels. The show department is much bigger but I still do not like having to ask employees for shoes. If this is the MO for Dick's they need double the staff as I always ha e to wait for someone to become available or even be visible. read more

(12/18/20) I visited Dicks for the first time this year at their new, at least to me, location. It's a two story monster. They have everything under the sun except knowledgeable salespeople and managers. I was looking for a magnetic latching lid for a 30oz cup. Dicks website said they were in stock at the Carolina Place location. The cashier that I spoke to didn't know and called a manager who told her that they were out of stock. She related this information to me. I told her that their website was saying just the opposite and that I'd wander the store till I found them. It turned out that on the second level, to the left of the escalators was a large display of Yeti products. I found what I needed and left. Three stars for them having what I needed, but a map of the store would be a nice addition to the website. read more

I was happy to see the Dick's from across Pineville-Matthews relocate to an open anchor spot in the mall. Seemed like the logical thing for them to do. Retail may be dying in general but seems hot in Charlotte, so the move was probably a good call. They didn't change much from the previous location, aside from getting considerably bigger. Maybe because they're in a mall but the firearms section is now completely gone. I would hesitate to list them in the hunting category now. Fishing is still here. There's also tons of home gym equipment. A few sections are fully dedicated to a given sport that's popular in the states. Think football, basketball, baseball, soccer. I was impressed that lacrosse seems to be blowing up in this country too these days. One entire floor is more dedicated to just clothing and shoes. Lots of sales and discounts throughout the year and you can often find Dick's coupons around. However, the prices are usually quite high and the coupon's applicable products quite limited. Not bad if you have a specific work out or sports item you really need. They will be some stiff competition in some segments against REI that has been here for years. read more

We got two Schwinn bikes for us. One for my son and one my husband. The sales consultant who helped us out with the order was Geno( Chris). He was patient enough to help juggle around with our choices. All our questions were clarified and explained well. We never thought that a floor agent could be so helpful from helping us choose /select our bikes to assisting us to fit within our trunk. He was indeed a polite, kind and helpful person. Glad to see this newish two-floor location open at Carolina Place Mall, replacing the one off of Pineville-Matthews which had been my go-to location for years. Service-wise however it is lacking in quantity and quality. We had to wait 10 minutes for an attendant to show up at the women's sportswear department changing room. When she did arrive, she was aloof and unapologetic. Due to lack of competition, prices are always a bit high. I prefer Academy Sports and the family owned Omega Sports at the Arboretum but glad to have this store in a pinch. read more

Came in to try on a few different sneakers brands and get a feel for what I want for my new job. Luckily the modeled shoes were mostly all my sizes because there were four or five different employees standing in the shoe section just blank staring at me, or playing on their phones. Not one of them came up to offer any type of assistance at all. After 20 min of trying on different shoes I left because no one would help me. Can't say enough great things about the two girls who were working in the men's nike department (one had really curly black hair and the other was tall with long brown hair). I needed help finding a specific pair of shorts for my husband and they went above and beyond helping me find them in his size and several colors. They were pleasant the entire time and looked like they enjoyed their jobs, while staying safe as well by wearing their mask. I tend not to have this experience, including having another girl in the clothing section with long blonde hair seeming very irritated at me for asking for help. Overall, great experience, it definitely made up for other experiences in the past. read more

Terrible. Incredibly overpriced merchandise. You can find the same brands much cheaper at other sporting good stores and online. Went to return a gift and they store credited me 50% LESS than the item price. The item was right in the front for FULL PRICE. So they are making 50% profit on my return!! Very disappointing. They also try to trick you with their "sales" and "coupons" with the very limiting fine print. I highly recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

I would give this a one star if I could. Speak to a manager apparently and I honestly thought he was an employee from his lack of experience and lack of working at dicks. I bought something and now they won't let me return it. How convenient is that. Never ever would recommend this place. read more
