I was a little suspicious from reviews and pictures that it wasn't a great health food spot but decided to give it a chance. When I arrived I was a little put off because it didn't seem very clean inside and although they're preparing the food in front of you, the food is completely blocked from view, you can't even see what they're doing at the smoothie bar - so you have absolutely no clue how your food is being prepped. Question; If it's food we "can trust" and Diced is proud enough to tell us we "can trust" it why can't we see any of it? (Subway, Chipotle, etc. and your average coffee and sandwich shop prep the food in front of you) However, despite those drawbacks there seemed to be a steady trickle of customers so I was encouraged, and I ordered a wrap. Despite lots of employees standing around, only three seemed to be actively working. It took an abnormally long time to get my smoothie and wrap for so many idle employees on hand. I took my wrap to go, and it was pretty tasty. I was really enjoying it. I had a few bites and put my attention back on driving. About 10 minutes later, I parked my car and reached over to seal the container my wrap was in. A quarter inch long cockroach was climbing on my wrap. Finally checked this place out a few months ago and was fairly impressed. It's right across MDC, in a small shopping center right next to a Sushi Sake I believe. The concept is simple, you choose between a salad, wrap or bowl and then decide on your rice, beans, protein, veggies, cheese and sauces of choice. Being a vegetarian, it would've been nice to see maybe tofu, or seitan or some kind of "meat" alternative. But they do offer a variety of fresh veggies and vegan sauces, so that's definitely a plus. I was impressed with the flavor. The chicken was not dry, as many places I've ordered a chicken wrap from have had. I also got some spinach chips with what looks like a pico de gallo dip. It is very good and it's easy to put together a fresh, tasty vegetarian or vegan meal, but all of the sauces, except for the vegan one, are mayonnaise based. And their portions are enormous. Those bowls have at least 2-3 servings of rice in them. They also sell Coke products. So it's only as healthy as you make it. The interior has a cool, clean look to it. The staff is always friendly and good about preparing each individual bowl/wrap exactly as ordered. My one issue with this place is the water. They give you small plastic cups with water that you can't refill on your own. You have to either interrupt a cashier or flag down an employee while they're bringing other customers their food to get you another cup of water. Maybe the water can be moved somewhere else so there's easier access to it? Leaving my kid alone at the table or going thirsty aren't fun options. read more
